Updating
An update keeps your settings; a fresh install erases them. Back up first (System → Backup, see Backup and Restore).
-
Upload
firmware.binfrom the latest release in System → Firmware, or - Install latest update from GitHub (explicit check, verified download, install and restart), optionally with periodic checks and scheduled installation. The beta channel also offers pre-releases.
The gateway writes the free slot, restarts into it and keeps the previous
image; if the new image does not start correctly it returns to the previous
one. The W5500 build updates only from firmware-eth.bin.
The built-in GitHub updater of v2.0.0 and v2.0.1 restarts the gateway while
beginning the update and installs nothing (with automatic installation on, it
may do so at its install hour). Upload firmware.bin in System → Firmware
once, or use USB keeping settings. From v2.0.2 the GitHub update works again.
Use the browser installer
with Erase device unticked, or UPDATE-KEEP-SETTINGS.bat /
install.sh update from Easy Install (Installation).
The v2 series uses its own version numbers. Devices that installed the 1.100 bridge find v2 updates by themselves. Devices still on 1.13 or older after the repository rename need one manual update (Web UI upload or USB keeping settings); settings, tailnet identity and saved Wi-Fi carry over.
