Vantagraph v5.1.2 - macOS consistency

Choose a tag to compare

@Miabeyefendi Miabeyefendi released this 30 Oct 01:24
Immutable release. Only release title and notes can be modified.

macOS consistency (Spotify 1.3.6, Spicetify 2.46)

Spicetify 2.46 maps 153 legacy class names only on macOS builds of Spotify: cards, the track list, the entity header, the top bar, home shortcuts, the progress bars and the playlist page. Windows builds do not get them, so on a Mac the theme's rules written against those names reached other elements than on Windows. Boxes shifted and the top bar sat crooked. It needs Spotify 1.3.3 or newer (tested on 1.3.6.1921) and Spicetify 2.45.2 or newer (tested on 2.46.4).

🐛 Fixes

  • macOS: a new MAC section in theme.js lists those names. On a Mac the alias layer gives them as vg-mac--<name>, and the theme's own selectors (class map, aliases, user.css, the injected styles, the Marketplace copy of user.css) read that twin, so every rule reaches the same elements as on Windows. Spotify's own stylesheets are left alone.
  • The Now Playing panel is found again on Spotify 1.3.6, which dropped its NowPlayingView class.

🧪 Checks

  • The macOS path was checked on Windows with the macOS names emulated: with the fix, none of the theme's rules reaches a different element; without it, the top bar and the progress and volume bars pick up extra elements.
  • src/utils/qa/diag-console.js prints versions, platform, panel geometry and where each legacy name comes from. If the theme still looks off on your machine, paste it into DevTools (spicetify enable-devtools) and attach the output to an issue.

Vantagraph v5.1.1 - Spotify 1.3.4 support

Choose a tag to compare

@Miabeyefendi Miabeyefendi released this 12 Oct 03:49
Immutable release. Only release title and notes can be modified.

Spotify 1.3.4 support

Spotify 1.3.4 removed more class names, this time from the player bar, the root grid and the top bar. Same method as the last release: the elements are found again through markup Spotify keeps. It needs Spotify 1.3.3 or newer (tested on 1.3.4.258) and Spicetify 2.45.2 or newer.

🐛 Fixes

  • The player bar lost its layout. Spotify fixes its box at 72px, so the progress row pushed the controls against the bottom edge. The bar has its height back, with the progress row on top and the controls centred.
  • The three panel areas were no longer found because the root grid lost its class name. They are found from the left sidebar's position now.
  • The top bar buttons of the theme (Vantagraph Settings, Lyric Miniplayer) were not added at all, because Spicetify looks for two boxes by class names Spotify removed.
  • The fill of the progress and volume bars fell back to Spotify's light colour.
  • Shuffle, previous, next and repeat sat higher than play, and the progress row left a gap under them. All six controls share one centre line now.
  • The left panel was painted 2px shorter than the main view, and the main view carried a 5px inset of its own inside its box. Left, main and right share the same top and bottom edge.

🎨 Changes

  • The player bar is a card inset like the panels: the same 8px from both window edges. The gap above and below the panels equals the gap between them (8px, 10px with Comfortable density).

Important Note: On Spotify 1.3 with Spicetify 2.45.x a page reload (Ctrl+R) can end on "Something went wrong" and the Marketplace does not load the theme again. Fully close and reopen Spotify instead. This is on the Spotify / Spicetify side, not the theme.

Vantagraph v5.1.0 - Spotify 1.3.3 support

Choose a tag to compare

@Miabeyefendi Miabeyefendi released this 05 Oct 15:14
Immutable release. Only release title and notes can be modified.

Spotify 1.3.3 support

Spotify 1.3.3 renamed its CSS classes again and Spicetify's class map does not know the new names yet, so a lot of the theme's rules quietly stopped applying. This release finds the same elements through markup Spotify keeps stable. It needs Spotify 1.3.3 or newer and Spicetify 2.45.2 or newer. On Spotify 1.3.1 or older use Vantagraph v5.0.3 (Outdated).

✨ What's new

  • Cards, shelves, track rows, the entity header, the player bar and the three panels are styled again. 62 legacy class names and the three panel areas are mapped onto the current markup through data-testid, roles, encore ids, structure and exact grid areas.
  • Volume+ settings open from a right-click on the % button and from the quick volume panel. Spicetify menu items no longer show up in Spotify 1.3.3, so the profile menu entry alone left the window out of reach.
  • The lyric miniplayer settings open in a Spotify modal. Spotify 1.3.3 answers window.open with null, so the separate window never appeared.
  • A QA harness in src/utils/qa/ that drives a real Spotify: every page, panel and menu, every setting, the extensions, panel alignment and heart colours.

⚡ Performance

  • Scrolling Home went from 73 to 136-182 fps. The play buttons of about 90 cards were each holding a compositor layer while hidden; they are now hidden with visibility.

🐛 Fixes

  • The liked heart was not red in the six light palettes. The light-theme icon rule outweighed the heart rule.
  • Removing the background image left the Glass palette on. The palette that was active before comes back.
  • The left panel, the main view and the right panel now share the same top and bottom edges at every density, with and without a background image.
  • The "Vantagraph Settings" link in the lyric miniplayer settings did nothing.
  • The global search icon was not replaced by the custom one.
  • The lyrics highlight follows the accent colour again.
  • The play icon over a background image, and the settings tab row collapsing while groups were open (both were on main after 5.0.3).
  • The 60px glow behind the header artwork, the "next track" card and the card hover behave as designed again.

Vantagraph v5.0.3 (Outdated)

Choose a tag to compare

@Miabeyefendi Miabeyefendi released this 05 Oct 15:13
Immutable release. Only release title and notes can be modified.

Outdated build. Use this only if your Spotify is 1.3.1 or older. For Spotify 1.3.3 and newer install the latest release.

This is a snapshot of main at commit 6657f77, the last state before Spotify 1.3.3 support: Vantagraph 5.0.3 plus the play-icon and settings-tab-row fixes made after it. The notes of 5.0.3 are on its release page. It stays here because the Marketplace only installs the current version.

Install by hand. Download Vantagraph-5.0.3-OUTDATED-for-Spotify-1.3.1-and-earlier.rar below. It holds Themes/Vantagraph and Extensions/ laid out like the Spicetify folders, and an INSTALL-LEGACY.txt with the exact commands. The way back to the Marketplace version is in the same file.

About the file. Made with git archive of that commit (theme files, extensions, LICENSE, NOTICE), then packed with WinRAR. Nothing is built or minified, the files are the repository's own.

Vantagraph v5.0.3 - Patch (Outdated)

Choose a tag to compare

@Miabeyefendi Miabeyefendi released this 24 Sep 09:31
Immutable release. Only release title and notes can be modified.

Outdated. Made for Spotify 1.3.1 and earlier. Spotify 1.3.3 and newer need Vantagraph 5.1.0 or newer. The downloadable build for older Spotify is Vantagraph v5.0.3 (Outdated).

⚡ Performance

  • Playing music no longer weighs on the whole app. The wave bars next to the progress bar now animate in pure CSS on the compositor instead of being redrawn from JavaScript. While music plays the main thread went from 58-81% busy to 14-22%, and the UI holds 163-165 fps.
  • Smoother scrolling in long lists. The custom icon set replaced 139 :has() rules, re-evaluated for every row a list mounted, with one rule per icon. Liked Songs scrolls at 142-158 fps with no style-recalc spikes.
  • The class mapper only processes the parts of the page that changed instead of scanning the whole document on every change.
  • State icons (play/pause, heart, shuffle, home) switch instantly instead of showing Spotify's glyph for up to a second.

🐛 Fixes

  • 10 snippets repaired for Spotify 1.3: Friend Activity (Spotify renamed it "Listening activity"), What's New (it also hid the button next to it), Shuffle, Ads Banner, New Release Promo Card, Home Shortcuts Grid, Mood / Time Recommendations (it was hiding the shortcut grid), Thin Library Rows, Spacing Visualizer (showed NaN on icons) and the Encore Audit report (came out as a single line).
  • Custom icons whose original glyph stayed visible underneath, and stale icons left on buttons Spotify reuses.
  • Icons already on screen at startup are replaced right away instead of after half a second.
  • Removed a request per track to Spotify's retired audio-analysis endpoint, which always failed.

🔒 Security

  • Font name, font URL and accent colour are validated before they reach CSS or a <link> (code scanning alert #2).
  • The Volume+ settings popup no longer puts stored values through the HTML parser (code scanning alert #1).

Important Note: On Spotify 1.3 with Spicetify 2.45.1 a page reload (Ctrl+R) can end on "Something went wrong" and the Marketplace does not load the theme again. Fully close and reopen Spotify instead. This is on the Spotify / Spicetify side, not the theme.

Vantagraph v5.0.2 - Patch

Choose a tag to compare

@Miabeyefendi Miabeyefendi released this 19 Sep 18:25
Immutable release. Only release title and notes can be modified.

🐛 Fixes

Fixes the stutter on Spotify 1.3 with Spicetify 2.45.x: the slowdown comes from the Spicetify wrapper, not the theme; this release ships a guard until upstream fixes it.

Important Note: Some issues are unrelated to the theme; changes to Spotify’s structure are causing various problems on the Spicetify side. Unfortunately, this has nothing to do with the theme.

Vantagraph v5.0.1 - Patch

Choose a tag to compare

@Miabeyefendi Miabeyefendi released this 05 Jul 11:41
Immutable release. Only release title and notes can be modified.

Small maintenance release fixing two issues reported after the initial launch.

🐛 Fixes

  • Like/Save icon now reflects real state - the heart no longer stays permanently colored regardless of whether a track is in your Liked Songs. Recent Spotify builds stopped changing the button's aria-label between liked/unliked states, which broke Vantagraph's coloring; it now keys off aria-checked instead, so the icon only lights up when the track is actually saved and stays neutral otherwise.

✨ Improvements

  • Next Track Widget toggle - the "up next" card that sits above the progress bar can now be hidden. Find it under Settings → Snippets → Hide Buttons → Next Track Widget. Shown by default; the toggle persists in localStorage like every other snippet.

📝 Notes
No palette, icon, or extension API changes - safe drop-in over v5.0.0.
