Boxroom-TV 4.0.1
Boxroom-TV 4.0.1
This Stable release promotes the 4.0.1 Beta 4 code line.
- Uses BOXROOM's native Video media type while retaining Boxroom-TV's recursive library scanning, NFO metadata, seasons, broader format support, VLC playback, and remote controls.
- Detects native BOXROOM video-capable displays through
Interactable_TV, including the Arcade Machine and future compatible TVs, monitors, and cabinets. - Keeps the previous ID-based display detection as a compatibility fallback.
- Includes shared display ownership for BR-Libretro so video and emulation do not compete for the same screen.
- Uses the Beta 4 initialization path without the explicit assembly-wide
PatchAllcall. - Includes the packaged VLC runtime, LibVLCSharp, VLC Unity plugin, and yt-dlp tool required by Boxroom-TV.
Build, package contents, checksum, and installation compatibility are release-gated separately from live in-game playback acceptance.
Boxroom-TV 4.0.1 Beta 3
Boxroom-TV 4.0.1 Beta 3
- Detects native BOXROOM video-capable displays through
Interactable_TVinstead of relying on a fixed list of placeable IDs. - Adds Boxroom-TV playback support for the new Arcade Machine.
- Automatically supports future TVs, monitors, arcade cabinets, and similar displays when BOXROOM marks them as video-capable.
- Keeps the previous ID-based detection as a compatibility fallback for older supported displays.
- Includes the shared Boxroom-TV display lease used by BR-Libretro so video and emulation do not compete for the same screen.
The generic display resolver was verified against the newly extracted BOXROOM source. The Release build and deployed DLL were verified; final playback on the Arcade Machine still requires an in-game test.
Boxroom-TV 4.0.1 Beta 2
Boxroom-TV 4.0.1 Beta 2
- Updates BOXROOM's native Display Your Videos catalogue page while Boxroom-TV is installed.
- Documents recursive subfolder scanning, optional
cover.jpgand NFO metadata, the native Video Container, and the correct TV/remote workflow. - Replaces the vanilla unsupported-format warning with accurate VLC-powered format guidance.
- Shows native Video case and total video-file counts on the catalogue page.
- Prevents stale FMOD PCM from accumulating while a TV is distant, inaudible, or disabled.
- Resynchronizes VLC audio and video to the same playback timestamp when returning to audible range.
- Retains the larger PCM jitter buffer needed for smooth, clip-free playback.
The distance-return synchronization fix was confirmed in-game before this Beta was published.
Boxroom-TV 4.0.1 Beta 1
Boxroom-TV 4.0.1 Beta 1
This beta merges Boxroom-TV with BOXROOM's new native Video system while keeping the richer library and playback features.
- Uses BOXROOM's native type-2 Video cases, Video Container, shelves, inspector, art editing, and save identity.
- Recursively discovers local video files and reads companion NFO metadata and artwork.
- Retains URL/remote playback through VLC, with selectable audio and subtitle tracks.
- Migrates legacy type-1200 references, loose cases, shelf entries, and the old Movies Box to native Video equivalents.
- Prevents BOXROOM's native
Interactable_TVscreenshot-cycle fallback from painting game artwork over an active VLC video. - Reacquires the renderer's live screen material if
GameImagePainterreplaces it, then reapplies the VLC texture. - Keeps native screenshot cycling available whenever no VLC source is loaded.
The merged native-video path has passed build and package validation. VLC video decoding and FMOD audio were confirmed in-game; the screen-material ownership fix is shipping in Beta for final in-game visual confirmation before Stable.
Boxroom-TV 3.4.6
Boxroom-TV 3.4.6
- Ignore TV interaction shortcuts while BOXROOM is in Build Mode or another non-interaction tool is active.
- Prevent a placement click from attaching Boxroom-TV components to a television preview while BOXROOM is constructing it.
- Retain the 3.4.5 change that delays VLC/FMOD initialization until playback is requested.
This fixes the reported crash when placing a television and keeps normal placed-TV interaction unchanged.
Boxroom-TV 3.4.5
Boxroom-TV 3.4.5
- Opening an empty TV remote no longer initializes the native VLC and FMOD playback stack.
- VLC now initializes only when local or online video playback is actually requested.
- Preserve automatic resume for televisions that already have saved playback.
This reduces the native crash surface on systems where VLC initialization fails while still allowing the remote and online-video controls to open.
Boxroom-TV 3.4.4
Adds synchronized temporary playback for integrations, one shared VLC decoder with follower textures, positional FMOD audio from the nearest display, full display-state restoration, and decoder recovery across room changes.
Dependencies: ModsPanel 2.6.2+, BR-MediaAPI 1.0.1+.
Boxroom-TV 3.3.1
Fixes sequential episode advancement, VLC 4 time units, live timeline refresh, Next/Previous remote refresh, dropdown layering through ModsPanel 2.5.1, and native BOXROOM camera locking while the remote is open.
Dependencies: ModsPanel 2.5.1+, BR-MediaAPI 1.0.1+.
