Pitwall v0.4.0

Install with one command. macOS and Linux:
curl -fsSL https://github.com/Moment-Up/pitwall/releases/latest/download/install.sh | sh.
Windows PowerShell: irm https://github.com/Moment-Up/pitwall/releases/latest/download/install.ps1 | iex.
Already installed with it? Run uv run pitwall update in your Pitwall folder.
See Install with one command.

Or download pitwall-v0.4.0.zip (below), unzip it, and follow
Install from a release
in docs/install.md.

The dashboard inside the zip is prebuilt (web-react/dist): you need uv,
but not Node.js, npm or a HeroUI Pro licence. GitHub's automatic "Source code" downloads do not contain
the prebuilt dashboard; use pitwall-v0.4.0.zip.

SHA-256: e8cb4c04d87b2e0d267a5fbdd2d5891b00cbdf9da8e3c36dcd0bad317fc79d6b (also in pitwall-v0.4.0.zip.sha256).
Check it with shasum -a 256 -c pitwall-v0.4.0.zip.sha256 (macOS/Linux) or
Get-FileHash pitwall-v0.4.0.zip -Algorithm SHA256 (Windows PowerShell).

Before it was published, this zip was unzipped, installed (uv sync --all-extras) and run
(scripts/verify_release.py) on GitHub's Windows, macOS and Linux runners: it served the prebuilt dashboard
and stored and analysed a synthetic telemetry stream. That shows the zip installs and runs there; it is not a test with a game.
Windows support is CI-tested on GitHub runners, not yet validated live with a game on a Windows PC. Which
games are supported, and on what evidence: uv run pitwall capabilities.

The dashboard includes HeroUI Pro (@heroui-pro/react), © NextUI Inc., used under licence and not covered
by Pitwall's terms; it may not be extracted or redistributed separately. Third-party licences are in
THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt inside the zip.

What changed

  • A new logo: the pit wall stand, on the app icon, the browser tab, the dashboard and the README.
  • The radio coaches habits, not every corner: one at a time (two at Detailed), said once, then when it gets better,
is still there 5 laps on, or is sorted. Synthetic and recorded laps; not live.
  • A habit is said only when it costs 0.05 s a lap or more; pit, out, safety-car, flashback and invalid laps never
count as habits. Synthetic and recorded laps; not live.
  • A single lap's slip is said on the radio only when it cost 0.3 s or more; smaller ones stay on the Drive screen.
Synthetic and recorded laps; not yet live.
  • "Better" compares laps against the same reference, and for braking early needs a faster corner. Tested on
    synthetic laps.
  • "Sorted" needs 2 of the corner's last 3 laps clean, and for braking early a faster corner. A new personal best no
longer wipes the radio's memory of your habits. Tested on synthetic laps.
  • Braking calls (Focus) follow your habits, with a corner reminder ("Turn 6, apex speed, 12 down") ending a second
before braking; it never cuts the spotter. Synthetic and recorded laps; not live.
  • Drive: the coach card says what a note is (Habit · 3 of 4 laps, Focus, Once, Sorted); between runs the Ready card
says what the radio is working on. Checked in a desktop browser, not yet on an iPad.
  • Today's 3 things: One to work on is a habit that is still there (else a big one-off), and a habit you sorted counts
as went well. Tested on synthetic and recorded sessions.
  • The demo (Try a demo replay) now shows the habits story in 10 laps: a habit announced, called and sorted, then a
reminder for the next one. Settings › System lists what to look for. Synthetic.
  • A habit the radio announces gets its corner reminder on the lap you hear it, not one lap later. Tested on synthetic
    laps; not live.
  • Coaching fits who drives what: Ed's corner brief, his fault checklist and published coaching, each saying when it
applies (level, braking style, car, gearbox). Recorded laps; not live.
  • Your braking style and how often you coast are read from your own clean laps; unknown stays unknown. With the F1
braking assist on, Pitwall says some braking was the game's. Recorded laps.
  • A measured cause is said as why only when it tells its point apart on recorded laps: today just an early brake
release when coasting, on the stopped coach card and in Review. Not on the radio.
  • Review shows the other measured causes as "Also measured on this lap", never as why; How corners work lists them
apart. Unit tests; not yet seen in a browser.
  • The engineer never says a point happened because of a cause that was only also measured. Unit tests; LLM off.
  • Review › Coaching: How corners work - a corner's six phases, which techniques fit you and why, what Pitwall checks,
and where it comes from, Ed credited. Unit tests; not yet seen in a browser.
  • Review › Compare: lateral and longitudinal g for both laps (hidden when the game sends none, as GT7) and markers
where each lap braked, released, was slowest and went flat. Unit tests.
  • The engineer explains technique from the knowledge graph for your session and rejects an answer naming a
technique it doesn't have. Tested with unit tests; LLM off.
  • On the owner's 30 recorded F1 25 and GT7 captures the radio and the coach card say exactly what they said before:
the eight coached points fit every driver and game.
  • A game that sends no steering (Assetto Corsa) no longer makes you a "straight-line braker": your braking style
    stays unknown there. Unit tests.
  • "No grip loss on the exit" is named only with traction control off; a traction-limited exit only where your
reference lap did not spin or slide. Recorded laps.
  • "Slowest point came sooner" replaces "Early turn-in": Pitwall does not measure the turn-in. Recorded laps.
  • The engineer never suggests a technique that does not fit you (heel-and-toe with paddles) or tells you to brake
later, brake less or trail-brake more. Unit tests; LLM off.
  • How corners work shows how real drivers brake (2025 F1 qualifying laps from OpenF1, AssettoCorsaGym sim laps), as
real-world data, not proof about a game. Unit tests.
  • Review › Compare's corner explainer now shows the causes Pitwall measured. Unit tests.
  • Family records: everyone's best lap per track, car, session type, weather and assists, with the gaps and who held
the record when. Stays on this computer. Unit tests and real laps; not live.
  • The badge "Family record at " for holding the family record when someone else drives there too. Tested on
    unit tests.
  • Ask the engineer "What's the family record here?"; when a lap takes the record from another driver the radio says
so in one short line. Tested on unit tests; not heard live.
  • Lap cards: a lap in a small, versioned format for a possible online board later; built locally, never sent.
  • F1 25 Time Trial: Pitwall reads your session best, personal best and the rival you picked from EA's leaderboard,
and keeps the rival per track and car. From EA's spec; not yet seen from the real game.
  • pitwall tt-check <capture> says whether a Time Trial recording carries the rival ghost's inputs. Tested on
    generated laps only.
  • Family boards show the real F1 pole for your car's season (F1DB) and, in Time Trial, your EA rival, with gold,
silver and bronze bands. Unit tests and real laps; the rival from EA's spec only.
  • Review › Progress, Records: one exact family board with pickers, the record history and the times to beat, with
their bands. Unit tests and real laps; not yet on an iPad.
