Lumen 1.20.1
- Smoother ambient light. The colored glow behind the page now carries on under the big picture at the top, with no hard edge where that picture ends.
Which file? Most PCs: Lumen-Setup-1.20.1.exe. ARM laptops: Lumen-Setup-1.20.1-arm64.exe.
Lumen 1.20.0
- Profile PINs. Lock any profile with its own 4-digit PIN in Manage profiles › edit a profile › Profile PIN. It's asked whenever someone picks that profile or wants to change it, and a small lock shows on its picture.
- Pick a quality. A title's sources now have quality chips above the list (4K, 1080p, 720p, HD, SD, with a count each), next to the language chips. Choose one to see only those sources.
Which file? Most PCs: Lumen-Setup-1.20.0.exe. ARM laptops: Lumen-Setup-1.20.0-arm64.exe.
Lumen 1.19.0
-
Skip intros and endings. Skip buttons now also come from AniSkip for anime, and Lumen learns from you: skip an intro once and the next episodes offer it; leave during the credits once and later episodes do too. Settings › Playback lets you show a button, skip automatically or turn it off.
-
Cleaner ambient light. The glow behind the glass takes a clear color from the artwork instead of a muddy grey, and Settings, Library and similar pages always use your theme's own glow.
-
Smoother on low-power laptops. Laptops with power-saving chips (Ryzen U-series, Intel U-series, Celeron…) now get Light mode automatically, and pictures load in sizes that fit where they're shown, which makes every PC lighter.
-
Lumen for Android now has its own releases: see the Android releases on this page.
Which file? Most PCs: Lumen-Setup-1.19.0.exe. ARM laptops: Lumen-Setup-1.19.0-arm64.exe.
Lumen 1.18.0
- Cast and trailers. Movie and series pages now show the cast with photos and the official trailers. Rest the mouse on the big picture at the top and the trailer plays right there.
- Pick your movie source. Play on a movie shows its sources on the page so you choose, instead of jumping straight into the player.
- Library progress, like MAL-Sync. Anime you watch show watched/total, a red badge when new episodes are out, a countdown to the next one and a progress bar. New sort: New episodes first.
- Calendars for series and movies. Movies and Series get a Calendar next to Browse, like Anime. Every calendar now opens on a Day view with big posters, with Week one click away.
- Better translations. French, Spanish, German and Portuguese now cover the menus, pages and library that were still in English.
Which file? Most PCs: Lumen-Setup-1.18.0.exe. ARM laptops: Lumen-Setup-1.18.0-arm64.exe.
Lumen for Samsung TV 1.0.0
The first version of Lumen for Samsung smart TVs (Tizen, 2019 models and later; built and tested on a 2022 QLED, Tizen 6.5).
- Made for the remote. A focus ring follows the arrows, OK selects, Back goes back. The menu is a rail of icons down the left that opens when you move onto it.
- Plays 4K, HDR and Dolby on the TV's own player. MKV and HEVC work. Sources are sorted with 4K first, and quality chips (4K, 1080p, 720p…) filter the list. These TVs can't play DTS sound, so sources with only DTS are marked.
- In the player: Left/Right skip 10 seconds, OK pauses, Up/Down show the controls, and the remote's play, pause, stop, fast-forward and rewind keys work.
- Sign in from your phone. Choose Sign in with phone, scan the QR code and sign in on your phone (Google or email). Your addons, profiles and history come with your account.
- Profile PINs can be typed with the remote.
Not on the TV: Watch together, addon setup pages, clips, VLC and Play on TV.
Installing
Samsung only lets TVs install apps from outside its store when they're signed for that TV, so Lumen-TV-1.0.0.wgt comes unsigned and you sign it once with your own free Samsung certificate:
- On the TV: open Apps, type
1 2 3 4 5on the remote, turn Developer mode on, enter your PC's IP address, then restart the TV (hold the power button). - On the PC: install Tizen Studio with the Samsung TV extension. In Certificate Manager, make a Samsung > TV certificate profile (for example
Lumen) and add your TV's DUID when it asks (Device Manager shows it once the TV is connected). - Sign and install, from Tizen Studio's
tools\ide\binfolder:sdb connect <TV IP> tizen package -t wgt -s Lumen -- C:\path\to\Lumen-TV-1.0.0.wgt tizen install -n Lumen-TV-1.0.0.wgt -- C:\path\to -t <TV name from "sdb devices">
Lumen then sits in the TV's Apps. Keep the certificate files: future versions must be signed with the same certificate to update.
Lumen for Android 1.20.0
- Profile PINs. Lock any profile with its own 4-digit PIN in Manage profiles › edit a profile › Profile PIN. It's asked whenever someone picks that profile or wants to change it.
- Pick a quality. A title's sources now have quality chips above the list (4K, 1080p, 720p, HD, SD), next to the language chips.
- 4K first. Phones play 4K, HEVC and HDR with their own hardware, so the source list is now sorted by quality on Android, with 4K at the top, instead of the order meant for low-power PCs.
Install Lumen-Android-1.20.0.apk. If you already have 1.19.1, Lumen offers this update by itself.
Lumen for Android 1.19.1
Lumen for Android, released separately from the PC app. Install Lumen-Android-1.19.1.apk on your phone (open it and allow installing when Android asks). It installs over an earlier Lumen for Android and keeps your data.
- Tab bar stays at the bottom. It no longer jumps to the top of the screen when you scroll.
- Settings made for phones. Categories are one row of small chips that scrolls sideways, and the one you pick stays in view.
- Player. Menus open as a panel on the side so the video stays visible, Watch together and Play on TV are icons, and the controls are slimmer.
- Fill the screen. A new picture-size button switches between Fit, Fill (crops the edges) and Stretch, and remembers your choice.
- No more black screen when double-tapping the video. A double tap on the left or right side skips 10 seconds.
- Tidier pages. Genre and language chips scroll in one line, no gap under the banner on Movies, Series and Anime, smaller addon cards and calendars, and no clips section (clips are PC-only).
From now on, Lumen for Android finds its updates in these Android releases by itself. Phones with 1.19.0 need this version installed once by hand.
Lumen 1.17.1
- MyAnimeList, both ways. Link your MyAnimeList account in Settings › Anime lists: statuses you set, anime you mark as completed and episodes you finish in Lumen go straight to your MyAnimeList list, and the MAL-Sync extension follows. Sign-in happens on MyAnimeList's own page; Lumen never sees your password.
Which file? Most PCs: Lumen-Setup-1.17.1.exe. ARM laptops: Lumen-Setup-1.17.1-arm64.exe.
Lumen 1.17.0
- Mark as completed. Every anime page now has a status menu (Watching, Completed, On hold, Dropped, Plan to watch) and a Mark as completed button.
- Pictures load faster. Posters and episode pictures are saved on your PC after the first time, and the next ones start loading before you scroll to them.
- Ready for MyAnimeList. Settings › Anime lists can link your MyAnimeList account to send statuses and episodes there (and to MAL-Sync); linking switches on in an upcoming update.
Which file? Most PCs: Lumen-Setup-1.17.0.exe. ARM laptops: Lumen-Setup-1.17.0-arm64.exe.
Lumen 1.16.1
- Tidier Library. The search box and sort menu now sit neatly side by side.
- Lumen with a capital L in the logo, the opening animation and the installer.
