Establish working email addresses for feedback hyperlinks #57
Comments
In reviewing past email on this topic, @pdpolly mentioned that e-mail addresses associated with palaeo-electronica.org are managed through the PalAss server. So it sounds like we can set up the MX records (email handling) for a new domain to point to this server. We'll need a little help from PalAss in any case, but it shouldn't be a major obstacle to set up a couple of mailboxes in the domain of your choosing. One possible simplification would be to use calibrations@palaeo-electronica.org for feedback instead of contact@calibrations.palaeo-electronica.org. This would use the existing domain, and it's shorter besides. |
I'll check with Mark Sutton about whether such an address has already been created.... |
I just tried sending a test email using the "Comment on this Calibration" and "Contact Us" links. Both attempt to send the message to: contact@calibrations.palaeo-electronica.org My gmail account reported: DNS Error: Address resolution of calibrations.palaeo-electronica.org. failed: Domain name not found I was under the impression we had fixed this - now I am not sure whether the address is misformed or something else is wrong. |
The address needs to be corrected to "calibrations@palaeo-electronica.org". I think that address is now functioning and mapped to dan's address.

The FCDB site currently uses contact@calibrations.palaeo-electronica.org as the email recipient in several
mailto:
hyperlinks. This should be enabled (or replaced with a real working email address) before launch.I've sent a test message to this address, which was rejected with this result:
FYI, here are the current
