@github-actions github-actions released this 23 Oct 19:17

NeuroTube v1.5.5

Release date: 2026-10-23

A bug-fix release for the account library import. Importing a signed-in account brought in the
liked songs but left the subscriptions, artists, albums, playlists, video playlists and history
empty.

Fixes

  • Every part of the import is imported again, not just liked songs. The library pages were
decoded with a JSON configuration that treats an absent key as an error. A real music library
omits responseContext.visitorData, and that one missing key failed the whole response, so the
reader saw no page at all and every part but liked songs came back empty. The library path now
uses the same tolerant configuration as the rest of the app, and the models treat their optional
fields as optional, so one absent key can no longer wipe out a whole page.
  • The import says which part failed and why. A finished import now names the parts that did
not come across and carries the error for each one, and the diagnostics report holds a
line-by-line trace of the last import — the shape and size of every response, and the error of
every part. A failed import can be read back instead of reproduced.

Notes

  • Importing only reads. Nothing is written back to the account and nothing is deleted.
  • Re-importing is safe: anything already present is left as it is, and each part is tried on its
own, so one failing does not lose the others.
  • The session is a cookie, stored encrypted on the device only and sent only to YouTube.
  • One universal APK, and the same signing key as every earlier release.

NeuroTube v1.5.4

Release date: 2026-10-22

A second bug-fix release for the account library import, and the first to bring in the account's
youtube.com data as well as its YouTube Music data.

Fixes

  • Saved playlists and artists are imported again. A signed-in music library now answers with
lockupViewModel rows in place of the musicTwoRowItemRenderer rows the import knew, and the
reader walked past the new shape. The import therefore finished with the playlists, artists and
podcasts lists still empty — the same class of bug that hid the subscriptions. Both shapes are
read now, on the first page and on every continuation.

Features

  • Your video playlists come across. The playlists you keep on youtube.com are imported as
playlists of their own, so they sit beside the ones saved in YouTube Music.
  • Watch Later and watch history come across. Your Watch Later list and your watch history are
imported as well, so a new install starts with the lists you already had.
  • The import reports everything it brought in. The finished screen now counts video playlists,
Watch Later and watch history along with the subscriptions, artists, liked songs, playlists and
    albums it already reported.

Notes

  • Importing only reads. Nothing is written back to the account and nothing is deleted.
  • Re-importing is safe: anything already present is left as it is, and each part is tried on its
own, so one failing does not lose the others.
  • One universal APK, signed with the same key as every earlier release.

NeuroTube v1.5.3

Release date: 2026-10-22

A bug-fix release for the account library import added in v1.5.0.

Fixes

  • Subscriptions are imported again. The import read the channels a signed-in account follows
from the guide and from the FEchannels page, but YouTube now renders those channels in a newer
lockupViewModel row that the reader did not know. The row was walked past, so the import
finished with the subscriptions list still empty. Both shapes are now read.
  • A long subscription list imports in full. The token that continues FEchannels also arrives
in a newer shape, so an account with more channels than fit on one page stopped after the first.
Both the older and the newer continuation rows are followed now.
  • The music library no longer stops after one page. A library page hangs its next-page token on
the section list rather than on the grid inside it, and a grid can also append the token as a
final row. Neither was read, so a large library rendered only its first page. Both are read now,
and a section-list token is only taken when the page carries a single section, so it is never
    attributed to the wrong one.
  • A continuation row no longer aborts the import. A grid ends with a bare
continuationItemRenderer row, and two fields on that row were required by the model. The row
failed to parse, and with it the whole response — so the import brought back nothing at all.
Those fields are optional now, and the token the row carries is used.

NeuroTube v1.5.2

Release date: 2026-10-22

A bug-fix release for the account library import added in v1.5.0.

Fixes

  • Saved albums are imported. The import asked the account for its songs, artists and playlists
but never for the albums it saved, so they were missing from the library afterwards. Albums are
now requested like every other section and written into the app's own stores.
  • The import no longer stops after one page. Each library section hands out the rest of its
contents as a continuation token, and only one of the two token types the endpoint can send was
being read. A section with more items than fit on one page therefore ended early — with a large
library, most of it never arrived. Both token types are now followed to the end.
  • Album and artist tiles are no longer dropped. A saved album carries its playlist id in a
slightly different place than a normal playlist, and a missing optional field on an artist tile
aborted the whole import. Both shapes now parse, and a single unexpected item no longer takes the
rest of the page down with it.

NeuroTube v1.5.1

@github-actions github-actions released this 21 Oct 18:00

NeuroTube v1.5.1

Release date: 2026-10-21

A bug-fix release for the account library import added in v1.5.0.

Fixes

  • Subscriptions now arrive. After signing in and importing, only liked songs showed up. The
account's subscription pages — the guide and the "All subscriptions" list — were being requested
while signed out, so YouTube returned an empty document and the import found nothing to add. They
are now sent as the signed-in viewer, so the channels your account follows come in as before.
  • The feed is personalised straight away. An import now teaches the recommendation engine the
channels it brought in and clears the cached lanes, so the next load is ranked for the account
you just signed in with rather than the previous identity.

NeuroTube v1.5.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 21 Oct 11:21

NeuroTube v1.5.0

Release date: 2026-10-21

A feature release. Signing in now brings the account's own library in: the channels it follows, the
artists it keeps, the songs it liked and the playlists and albums it saved, all written into the
stores the app already reads from.

New

  • Import your library from your account. On Settings → Account, with a session signed in,
the Import library row reads your account and stores what it finds. No file, no export, no
copy-paste — it is one tap.
  • Subscriptions. The channels your account follows are read from YouTube's own list, a page at
a time, and merged with the guide's short list so the most-used channels arrive even if the full
page is unavailable. They show up in the Subscriptions feed like any you added by hand.
  • Artists. The artists your account follows on YouTube Music are added as music subscriptions.
  • Liked songs. The songs your account liked land in Liked music, newest first.
  • Playlists and albums. The playlists and albums your account saved are stored with their
songs, so they open and play offline from the library.
  • The page reports what happened. While it runs it names the part it is on, and when it
finishes it lists how many of each kind were added.

Notes

  • Importing is a one-way read: nothing is written back to the account, and nothing is deleted.
Re-importing is safe — a channel or song already present is left as it is.
  • Each part is attempted on its own, so one failing does not lose the others.
  • The session is still a cookie, stored encrypted on the device only. It never leaves the phone
except in requests to YouTube itself.
  • One universal APK (arm64-v8a + armeabi-v7a), no ABI splits.
  • Same signing key as every earlier release.
  • Downloads, backups, sync and the recommendation engine are untouched.

A note on the account

Google's terms do not permit third-party clients, and an account used this way can be rate-limited
or blocked. If you want to sign in, a separate account is the safer choice. Signing in remains
optional: everything works signed out, exactly as before.

NeuroTube v1.4.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 21 Oct 06:36

NeuroTube v1.4.1

Release date: 2026-10-21

A fix release for the YouTube sign-in added in v1.4.0. Sign-in did not complete: the page opened,
but finishing the flow was impossible. This release makes it work, and keeps the session usable
across restarts.

Fixed

  • Sign-in now completes. v1.4.0 loaded the YouTube website and waited for the user to press
YouTube's own "Sign in" button. That button hands the account chooser to a popup window, which
the sign-in screen was silently dropping, so nothing happened. The app now opens Google's sign-in
page directly, with YouTube as the return target.
  • Sign-in no longer stalls part-way. A navigation filter was refusing Google's own hand-off
pages, which could strand the flow with no error message. Navigation is now unrestricted.
  • The session is captured whole. Two values the session was minted with were never read, so
requests made after signing in were still treated as signed out. Both are read from the page now,
saved with the session, and re-applied on launch.
  • Signing in or out refreshes the feed immediately, instead of leaving the previous account's
videos on screen until the next manual refresh.

Unchanged

  • The session is a Google cookie, validated against YouTube before it is saved, written encrypted
(AES/GCM, key in the Android keystore) to app-private storage excluded from cloud backup.
  • It never leaves the device except in requests to YouTube itself. There is no NeuroTube server and
no telemetry. Signing out clears it from memory and deletes the saved copy.
  • Signing key: v1.4.1 is signed with the same certificate as every previous release.
  • One universal APK (arm64-v8a + armeabi-v7a), no ABI splits.

NeuroTube v1.4.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 20 Oct 18:07

NeuroTube v1.4.0

Release date: 2026-10-20

NeuroTube can now sign in to YouTube. The account is optional: without it the app behaves exactly
as it did in v1.3.0. With it, browse and search use your account, so subscriptions, liked videos
and playlists come back personalised instead of anonymous.

Added

  • YouTube sign-in. Settings -> Account opens a Google sign-in page inside the app. The same
control appears as a card in the onboarding import step, and both can be skipped.
  • A personalised home. Once a session exists, browse and search ask YouTube for login, so the
signed-in library is what comes back. Signing out restores anonymous requests immediately.
  • The account name on the settings row, so you can see who is signed in without opening the page.

How the session is kept

  • The session is a Google cookie captured from the sign-in page and validated against YouTube
before it is saved. A cookie that YouTube rejects is discarded, not stored.
  • It is written encrypted (AES/GCM, key in the Android keystore) to app-private storage that is
    excluded from cloud backup.
  • It never leaves the device except in requests to YouTube itself. There is no NeuroTube server
    and no telemetry.
  • Signing out clears the session from memory and deletes the saved copy.

Unchanged

  • Signing key: v1.4.0 is signed with the same certificate as every previous release.
  • One universal APK (arm64-v8a + armeabi-v7a), no ABI splits.
  • Downloads, backups, sync and the recommendation engine are untouched.

A note on the account

Google's terms do not permit third-party clients, and an account used this way can be rate-limited
or blocked. If you want to sign in, a separate account is the safer choice. Signing out at any time
removes the session from the device.

NeuroTube v1.3.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 20 Oct 12:45
2ec1c29

NeuroTube v1.3.0

Release date: 2026-10-20

The package name changed from com.flowtube.app to com.neurotube.app. Android treats a package
name as the app's identity, so this is a one-time break: v1.3.0 installs as a new app next to
the old one and does not inherit its data.

Before you update, export a backup. Open the old app, go to Settings → Backup, and save a
master backup. Then uninstall the old app, install v1.3.0, and restore that backup.

Changed

  • New package name. com.neurotube.app replaces com.flowtube.app. The launcher label, the
Home header, the notification, the widgets and the About screen already read NeuroTube; now the
    internal identity matches the name.
  • Downloads in the old folders are still found. Download/NeuroTube is the current location,
and the app keeps scanning the Flow Tube folders from earlier versions, so existing files stay
listed and are still recovered after a reinstall.
  • Metadata in existing downloads is still read. Files downloaded by an earlier version carry
com.flowtube.app.* tags; those are still parsed, so titles, artists and video ids survive.

Unchanged

  • Signing key: v1.3.0 is signed with the same certificate as every previous release.
  • Media files already in Download/NeuroTube are not touched — they live in shared storage, not in
    app-private data.

Known limitation

  • The old app's private data (watch history, playlists, settings, the recommendation engine) cannot
be carried over automatically. Android does not let a new package read another package's private
storage, and the in-app updater refuses an APK whose package name differs. The backup export and
restore path is the way across.

NeuroTube v1.2.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 19 Oct 18:56

NeuroTube v1.2.0

Release date: 2026-10-19

NeuroTube is the new name. The app used to be called Flow Tube; this release renames it everywhere
the name is shown, and keeps every download and setting you already have.

Changed

  • New name. The launcher label, the Home header, the notification, the widgets, the About screen
and the update screen all read NeuroTube now. The name is translated in all 30 bundled languages.
  • New download folders. New downloads go to Download/NeuroTube, Movies/NeuroTube and
Music/NeuroTube instead of the old Flow Tube folders.
  • Old folders are still read. The app keeps scanning the previous Flow Tube folders, so a file
saved by an earlier version is still found, listed in Downloads and recovered after a reinstall.
  • Project renamed too. The README, the project website, the release asset names
(NeuroTube-<version>-universal.apk) and the Gradle project name all use the new name.

Unchanged

  • The application id stays com.flowtube.app, so this installs as a normal update over v1.1.0 and
your library, downloads, playlists and the recommendation profile are kept.
  • Same signing key as v1.1.0.
  • One universal APK for every supported device, as before.
