While the splitter will probably work, bear in mind that the sensitivity of electret mics is related to the drive voltage. Since this voltage is fed via a series resistor, it will be lower than expected when you have 2 mics in parallel. |

Hi everyone, I’m looking to build my first BirdNET-Pi and I have a few questions.
I’m planning to purchase a Raspberry Pi 4 (8GB version), and I’d preferably like to use Wi-Fi for the connection.
For the microphone setup, I’m wondering if it’s possible to use two microphones spaced apart. I plan to 3D print an enclosure (or build one using hardware materials, possibly printing in ASA).
At first, I was thinking of building a portable setup using a 6–8 inch enclosure, powered by a small battery pack. For internet connectivity while on the go, I’d use a hotspot puck to provide wireless internet access.
Now, going back to the stereo microphone idea: would it be possible to use a 3.5mm Y-splitter cable feeding into a USB UGREEN DAC dongle, and would that allow me to merge the two microphones into one input source?
