• Layered wallpapers can play video and sound, and react to the music playing on your Mac and to your cursor.
• The layer editor now opens in its own window, with the layer list, a large preview and the settings side by side.
• Add 3D models (.glb / .gltf files) to your own wallpapers.
• Add text, video, sound effects and ready-made looks (color adjustment, blur, glow, pixelate, glitch and more) from the editor.
• Wallpaper makers can add options that you change from the wallpaper's settings.
• Use your own web page as a wallpaper: pick a folder with an index.html and you're done. Web wallpapers can also read a folder you choose, and each display can have its own.
• Wallpapers can remember things between restarts, such as a counter or a saved choice.
• Settings can now refresh all your wallpapers and their previews at once, without asking you to approve scripts again.
• Playback controls and the settings sidebar look more like a standard Mac app.
• Your wallpapers and presets are now saved in a way that lets future versions open them safely. If you open a file made by a newer version, the app tells you instead of showing it wrongly.

Fixes

• Wallpapers with large 3D models now use much less memory (a library with several heavy wallpapers went from about 1.4 GB to about 0.7 GB in our test).
• Wallpapers that use scripts run faster and use less memory for images.
• Fixed see-through parts of a 3D wallpaper cutting holes in the background or hiding things behind them, such as the rings of a planet.
• Fixed the editor window shrinking to just its title bar after you closed and reopened it.
• Fixed the audio visualizer flickering or disappearing after quiet moments.
• Fixed looping wallpapers stopping when the loop setting was off.
• Permissions you've granted now stay granted after updates.

Notes

• Wallpapers made or saved with this version can't be opened by earlier versions.
• Not yet verified on Intel Macs or macOS 13.

What's new

• Use your wallpaper as the macOS screen saver. Install it from Settings → Screen Saver, then pick it under Wallpaper → Screen Saver… → Other in System Settings.
• When you quit or uninstall the app, your previous screen saver comes back.
• Wallpapers now fade when they change. Choose a crossfade or a fade through black.
• Choose what happens on battery power: keep playing normally, reduce load, or show a still image.
• Pause and resume the wallpaper from the menu, with ⌃⌥⌘P, or with a URL (livewallpaper://pause, resume, toggle-pause).
• Switch to a wallpaper or playlist by name with a URL (set?name=, set-playlist?name=).

Fixes

• Fixed a black screen when a still image was shown right after a wallpaper was set while paused, or when Reduce Motion was on.
