Hi, i am a pfsense user. I have the last stable version of this magnificent Firewall(and more), but i'm dealing with an issue about BindDNS package and the name.conf file. The thing is that i have a WAN subnet with /29 and when i define my reverse zone, everything goes well, but when i restart de service using the pfsense interface something goes wrong with the name.conf file because for some reason this file has an error in the line 48, the /240 doesn't have to be there:

  1. zone "240/x.x.x.190.in-addr.arpa" { 47. type master; 48. file "/etc/namedb/master/Externa/240/x.x.x.190.DB";

the correct way will be:

  1. zone "240/x.x.x.190.in-addr.arpa" { 47. type master; 48. file "/etc/namedb/master/Externa/x.x.x.190.DB";

and because of that i have to fixit manually every time the service restart. All of this is happening on Unix/linux, and for Unix/linux the / symbol is a delimiter for files path, and that is the reason why the reference to the area is lost, because with that description, it tries to find the area in the / 240 directory which does not exist
Can you helpme ?
thanks in advance

Changes since 1.4.0 from the RELEASE_NOTES file
        NOTE: In response to CVE-2019-20790, opendmarc has changed
                how it evaluates headers added by previous
                SPF milters. Users are encouraged to read the
                CVE-2019-20790 file in the "SECURITY" folder
                for more details. (#49, #158). Originally reported by
                Jianjun Chen, feedback by Simon Wilson and
                David Bürgin <dbuergin@gluet.ch>.
        NOTE: OpenDMARC's internal SPF handling will be removed
                in a future version. Users are encouraged to
                build linked against libspf2. Many pre-built
                packages provided by OS packagers already do this.
                (See https://www.libspf2.org)
        Addition of defines for MUSL C Library. (#129/#133). Patches by
                Marco Rebhan.
        Updated opendmarc.conf manpage and opendmarc.conf.sample to point to
                https://publicsuffix.org/list/.
        Added a CONTRIBUTING document.
        Fix two #ifdefs in arc functions for strlcpy. (#138). Reported by
                Leo Bicknell.
        Fixes to MySQL Schema (#98/#99). Patch by Bond Keevil.
        LIBSPF2 calls would not compile on OpenBSD due to OpenBSD not
                having the ns_type definition in arpa/resolv.h.
                Added detection to configure script. (#134)
        Reworked hcreate_r calls to use hcreate, to compile natively on
                OpenBSD and MacOS. (Part of #94) Reported by Rupert
                Gallagher.
        Add compatibility with AutoConf 2.70. (#95)
        Documentation updates about SourceForge being deprecated. (#101)
        Only accept results from Received-SPF fields that indicate clearly
                which identifier was being evaluated, since DMARC specifically
                only wants results based on MAIL FROM.
        Many build-time fixes (#100, #91, #90, #86, #85, #84, #83, #82, #81)
                Patches provided by Rupert Gallagher (ruga@protonmail.com)
        Added config option HoldQuarantinedMessages (default false), which
                controls if messages with p=quarantine will be passed on to
                the mail stream (if False) or placed in the MTA's "hold"
                queue (if True). Issue #105. Patch by Marcos Moraes, on
                the OpenDMARC mailing list.
        Remove "--with-wall" from "configure". Suggested by Leo Bicknell.
        LIBOPENDMARC: Fix bug #50: Ignore all RRTYPEs other than TXT.
                Problem reported by Jan Bouwhuis.
        LIBOPENDMARC: Fix bug #89: Repair absurd RRTYPE test in SPF code.
        LIBOPENDMARC: Fix bug #104: Fix bogus header field parsing code.
        LIBOPENDMARC: Fix bug #161: Don't pass the client IP address through
                htonl() since it's already in network byte order. This
                was causing SPF errors when the internal SPF
                implementation was in use.
        LIBOPENDMARC: Fix numerous problems with the internal SPF
                implementation.

# hms 1.1.0

## Breaking changes

- `"hms"` objects no longer have a common type with `character` and `numeric`. Combining such values previously threw a warning, now throws an error (#94).
- `vec_cast()` and `as_hms()` throw error instead of a warning if input can't be parsed (#68).

## Features

- New `unique.hms()` method (#98, @joethorley).
- `as_hms()` is a generic again (#81).

## Internal

- Avoid `LazyData` in `DESCRIPTION`.
- Bump required versions of ellipsis and vctrs to avoid warning during package load.
- Using lifecycle package (#94).

# hms 1.0.0

## Life cycle

- hms is now marked as "stable".

## Breaking changes

- `"hms"` objects no longer have a common type with `character` and `numeric`. Combining such values previously threw a warning, now throws an error (#94).
- `vec_cast()` and `as_hms()` now throw error instead of a warning if input can't be parsed (#68).

## Features

- `as_hms()` is a generic again (#81).
- `round_hms()` and `trunc_hms()` gain `digits` argument (#78, @hglanz).

## Bug fixes

- `as_hms()` and `vec_cast()` now correctly treat objects of class `"difftime"` with `integer` mode (#84).

## Internal

- Using lifecycle package (#94).
- hms has been re-licensed as MIT (#86).

# hms 0.5.3

- Use `vec_default_ptype2()`, remove `vec_ptype2.hms.unspecified()` (#80, @romainfrancois).
- `vec_ptype2.hms.default()` forwards to `vec_default_ptype2()` for compatibility with vctrs 0.2.1.
- Remove `as.data.frame.hms()`, handeld by vctrs.

# hms 0.5.2.9000

- Internal changes only.

# hms 0.5.2

- Work around parsing error that occurs on DST changeover dates (https://bugs.r-project.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=16764).

# hms 0.5.1

- Lossy casts from `character` vectors to `hms` now also trigger a warning if the cast succeeds in the first element of the vector but fails for other elements.

# waldo 0.3.0

* `compare()` is now considerably faster when comparing complex objects that
  don't have any differences (thanks to strategic use of `identical()`) (#86).

* `compare()` gains two improvements to low-level diffs:

    * Structurally identical data frames (#78) and numeric matrices (#76) gain
      a row-by-row diff that makes it easier to see where exactly values differ.

    * An element-by-element diff will be automatically used if it's shorter than
      the "smart" diff. This improves diff quality when comparing two vectors
      that aren't really related (#68).

* `compare()` gains a `list_as_map` argument thanks to an idea from @dmurdoch.
  It allows you to compare the behaviour of two lists when they are used to
  connect names to values (i.e. the list is operating as a map or dictionary).
  It removes `NULL`s and sorts named components (#72).

* The objects involved in `compare()` (as opposed to the caller of `compare()`)
  gained much greater ability to control the comparison.

    * Objects can now contain a `waldo_opts` attribute, a list with the same
      names and valid values as the arguments to `compare()`, which overrides
      the default comparisons (@dmurdoch).

    * `compare_proxy()` is now called earlier (before type comparison) making
      it more flexible (#65).

    * `compare_proxy()` gains a second argument, `path`, used to report how the
      proxy changed the object. This makes it easier to see when and how a proxy
      is used (#73).

    * Proxies now exist for comparing RProtoBuf objects, converting them to
      proto text format (#82, @michaelquinn32).

* Comparing a list with symbol to a list without that element no longer errors
  (@mgirlich, #79).
netbsd-srcmastr pushed a commit that referenced this issue Nov 29, 2021
# desc 1.4.0

* DESCRIPTION objects created with the `!new` command now omit `LazyData: true`
  to match new CRAN checks (#105, @malcolmbarrett)

* `description$write()` now writes out the file in the correct encoding
  (#109).

* `Authors@R` fields are now formatted differently when normalizing a
  DESCRIPTION file (#78).

* New `description$get_list()`, `description$set_list()` and
  corresponding `desc_get_list()` and `desc_set_list()` values to query
  and create comma separated fields (#86).

## Breaking change

* `desc_get_field()` gains a boolean `squish_ws` parameter to normalize
  whitespace within the retrieved value. It defaults to the value of `trim_ws`
  (`TRUE` by default). Example with desc's current DESCRIPTION:

  Old behaviour:

  ```r
  > desc::desc_get_field("Description")
  [1] "... DESCRIPTION files.\n    It is intended for packages ..."
  ```

  New behaviour:

  ```r
  > desc::desc_get_field("Description")
  [1] "... DESCRIPTION files. It is intended for packages ..."
  ```

  If you want the old behaviour, just set `squish_ws = FALSE`.

- Update README.md to include the documentation (@mimoo, @dinosaure, 65a5c12)
- Remove deprecated function from `fmt` library (@dinosaure, #121)

### v1.0.1 2020-02-08 Paris (France)

- Fix `esy` support (@dinosaure, #115)
- Fix big-endian support (@dinosaure, #113)

### v1.0.0 2020-11-02 Paris (France)

- **breaking changes** Upgrade the library with MirageOS 3.9 (new layout of artifacts)
  Add tests about compilation of unikernels (execution and link)
  (#105, @dinosaure, @hannesm)
- Fix `esy` installation (#104, @dinosaure)
- **breaking changes** Better GADT (#103, @dinosaure)
  As far as I can tell, nobody really use this part of `digestif`.
  The idea is to provide a GADT which contains the type of the hash.
  From third-part libraries point-of-view, it's better to _pattern-match_ with
  such information instead to use a polymorphic variant (as before).
- **breaking changes** key used for HMAC is a constant `string` (#101, @dinosaure, @hannesm)
  The key should not follow the same type as the digest value (`string`, `bytes`, `bigstring`).
  This update restricts the user to user only constant key (as a `string`).

### v0.9.0 2020-07-10 Paris (France)

- Add sha3 implementation (#98), @lyrm, @dinosaure, @hannesm and @cfcs

- Move to `dune.2.6.0` (#97)
- Apply `ocamlformat.0.14.2` (#97)
- Fix tests according `alcotest.1.0.0` (#95)

### v0.8.0 2019-20-09 Saint Louis (Sénégal)

- Fake version to prioritize dune's variants instead of
  old linking trick
- Use `stdlib-shims` to keep compatibility with < ocaml.4.07.0

### v0.7.3 2019-07-09 Paris (France)

- Fix bug about specialization of BLAKE2{B,S} (#85, #86)
  reported by @samoht, fixed by @dinosaure, reviewed by @hannes and @cfcs

Upstream changes:
1.715     2023-05-04 13:09:22-05:00 America/Chicago

  [Fixed]

  - Fixed Multiplex adapter losing context details. Normally, the
    Log::Any::Proxy joins all of the arguments passed in to a logging
    method if the adapter it's using does not support structured data.
    Multiplex supports structured data, but one of the adapters inside
    may not. So, the Multiplex adapter must also perform this
    concatenation to avoid losing those additional arguments.

    Thanks @jrubinator and @GrantStreetGroup for discovering this bug
    and providing the fix! [Github #95]

1.714     2023-03-20 11:48:30-05:00 America/Chicago

  [Fixed]

  - Fixed Syslog adaptor losing ident and facility information if
    another library wrongly calls Sys::Syslog::closelog(). This is not
    a perfect solution, but a perfect solution can only ever be to fix
    the close that's calling closelog() :P

    Thanks to Tom Christiansen and @GrantStreetGroup for reporting this
    issue and providing the fix.

1.713     2022-12-12 12:44:52-06:00 America/Chicago

  [Fixed]

  - Fixed tests failing due to missing Devel::Stacktrace. This is an
    optional module, so we do not explicitly depend on it. Thanks
    @dbevans and @perlpunk for reporting this issue! (Github #93)

1.712     2022-12-09 11:05:10-06:00 America/Chicago

  [Added]

  - Added `Log::Any::Proxy::WithStackTrace` to provide a stack trace at
    the caller site. Thanks @larryl and @GrantStreetGroup for providing
    this feature!

  [Other]

  - Removed Travis, as they stopped supporting free Github repos :(

1.711     2022-11-22 11:28:01-06:00 America/Chicago

  [Fixed]

  - Fixed proxy not exposing 'category' attribute (#86). Thanks
    @andrew-grechkin!
  - Fixed not being able to get a proxy for the "root" category (empty
    string) (#90). Thanks @XSven!

Upstream changes:
1.063  2024-03-15

- Fixes #86 "-l somelib.dll doesn't work in recent PAR::Packer versions"

  par_setup_libpath() in myldr/mktmpdir.c used to set all known
  "search path for DLLs" environment variables (e.g. LD_LIBRARY_PATH
  on Linux). The search path is set up so that the first directory
  searched is a packed executable's cache directory (where the shared
  perl library will be extracted to, also all packed "external" DLLs).
  In 2017 (by 2ac7078) it was changed to only set the variable
  relevant for the OS where PAR::Packer was build on, given by
  $Config{ldlibpthname}. But some perl distributions
  (e.g. Strawberry on Windows) do not specify $Config{ldlibpthname}.

  Hardwire "PATH" for MSWin32 and otherwise complain if this Config
  variable is undefined.

  Add t/85-ldlibpthname.t: check that the value of the environment
  variable for searching for DLLs, usually $ENV{$Config{ldlibpthname}},
  starts with the cache directory, $ENV{PAR_TEMP}.

- Skip t/87-xs-cross.t if ExtUtils::Depends 0.8001 is installed.
  This version fails to build and install the "import lib"
  corresponding to XSQuux.xs.dll and hence fails to build XSBar.xs.dll.

  The test works on GitHub CI, because the "strawberry" perl distribution
  installed there comes with ExtUtils::Depends version 0.8000
  (ie. **not** current) pre-installed.

1.062  2024-03-05

- Fix #84: PAR::Packer packaged scripts lose the ability to parse UTF-8 arguments from the command line

  myldr/boot.c passes its arguments in argv (except argv[0]) down to the custom
  perl interpreter using _spawnvp(). But this argv has already been converted to the
  local code page, so the custom interpreter can't get it back using
  GetCommandLineW(). Convert myldr/boot.c to use GetCommandLineW() and
  CommandLineToArgvW() to get the "real" (UTF-16) command line and pass
  that down via _wspawnvp(). Convert shell_quote() (to escape embedded
  blanks, double quotes etc in the arguments) from using char to wchar_t.
  Thanks to @fengzyf for the report and most of the work.

- pod: explain how REGEX is applied in "--modfilter=FILTER=REGEX"

- require PAR >= 1.020

- add new test t/87-xs-cross.t to investigate rschupp/PAR#11

- move some test modules around and fix up tests accordingly

- bump version of actions/checkout

      + Fixed movability of channel & coroutine types
  * Compat:
      + Added bind_front.hpp, bind_back.hpp, invoke.hpp, mem_fn.hpp,
        integer_sequence.hpp and type_traits.hpp.
      + Added function_ref.hpp.

      + Fixed bugs/issues:
          o GitHub #285: "devector<>::push_front asserts after clear()".
          o GitHub #280: "Several containers don't support non-movable types
            when move assigning".
          o GitHub #279: "small_vector cannot go back to use stack space".
          o GitHub #277: "Remove dep on boost::static_assert".
          o GitHub #275: "Compilation fails if custom key comparison is used".
          o GitHub #273: "flat_map/vector crashes on appends (memory
            corruption)".
          o GitHub #269: "flat_multimap::emplace not sorting elements under
            GCC".
          o GitHub #266: "small_vector<T> is misaligned on the stack in 32
            bits".
          o GitHub #259: "Global variables".
          o GitHub #245: "flat_tree::insert ordered range doesn't assert
            sorting".
          o GitHub #241: "flat_map should support same interface as std::map".
  * Core:
      + Added a boost/core/pointer_in_range.hpp header with a pointer_in_range
        function template to check if a pointer is within a given range.
      + Fixed type_name for abstract classes. (#172)
      + Fixed boost/core/type_name.hpp compilation error with MSVC with
        disabled native wchar_t type. (#173)
      + Added a workaround for an MSVC bug causing empty_value compilation
        errors when it is used with a nested class. (PR#175)
  * CRC:
      + C++03 is no longer supported; a C++11 compiler is required. (This
        includes GCC 4.6 or later, and MSVC 10.0 (VS 2010) or later.)
      + Removed dependencies on Array, Config, Integer, and TypeTraits. The
        library is now standalone.
  * Filesystem:
      + is_empty operation is now better protected against concurrent
        filesystem modifications.
      + On POSIX systems, is_empty now indicates error if invoked on a file
        other than a regular file or a directory.
      + On Windows, fixed file_size and is_empty operating on symlinks rather
        than the files the symlinks refer to. (#313)
      + directory_entry::refresh no longer throws an exception if the file
        referenced by the entry doesn't exist. This makes directory_entry::
        status and directory_entry::symlink_status, as well as methods based on
        them, behave similarly to the equivalent standalone operations. The
        fact that the file does not exist is still indicated via the error_code
        returned by the corresponding directory_entry::refresh overload, or can
        be seen by testing if the file type returned by directory_entry::status
        or directory_entry::symlink_status calls is file_type::file_not_found.
        (#314)
      + Fixed weakly_canonical testing path elements for existence relative to
        the current path instead of the base path specified in the call, if the
        input path was a relative path.
      + On Windows, fixed weakly_canonical producing incorrect result path when
        the input path started with "..". (#311)
  * Format:
      + C++03 is no longer supported; a C++11 compiler is required. (This
        includes GCC 4.7 or later, and MSVC 12.0 (VS 2013) or later.)
  * Function:
      + Removed dependency on Boost.TypeTraits.
      + Brought back the argN_type typedefs that were accidentally lost in
        1.85.
  * GIL:
      + Added
          o Added tell() and error() functions to istream_device and
            ostream_device classes (PR#747).
      + Changed
          o Don't ignore custom color converter in color_converted_view
            function (PR#726).
          o Added workaround for conflict with min() and max() macros on WinAPI
            (PR#745).
          o The use of boost::filesystem in GIL is now configurable in CMake
            via option BOOST_GIL_USE_BOOST_FILESYSTEM (PR#743).
      + Fixed
          o Fixed convolution in convolve_2d (PR#723)
          o Normalize Gaussian 2D kernel to avoid darkening (PR#725)
          o Wrong buffer size in path string conversion functions for std::
            wstring is fixed, avoiding buffer overflows when using I/O-related
            functions with std::wstring paths (PR#746).
      + Acknowledgements
          o Christoph Gringmuth, Christopher Kormanyos, nicolacandussi, Dirk
            Stolle, Olzhas Zhumabek
  * Graph:
      + Major update: C++14 is the new minimum standard; this was partly
        dictated by dependencies (at least to C++11) and partly by choice. If
        you require support for an older standard, please contact the
        maintainer.

        of cheaply calculating upper exclusive bound, fix bug with Associative
        Property Map, improve space efficiency from linear in the size of the
        maximum invariant to linear in the size of g1.
      + boykov_kolmogorov_max_flow: Fix named parameter overload.
      + adj_list_edge_iterator: Fix maybe-uninitialized warnings.
      + hawick_circuits: Add a parameter to optionally limit the depth of the
        search, causing a potentially suboptimal answer to be returned early.
      + disjoint_sets: Improve performance of link_sets by removing redundant
        lookup of set representatives.
      + maximum_adjacency_search: Refactor and more tests.
      + property: Use BOOST_ATTRIBUTE_NO_UNIQUE_ADDRESS to remove wasted space.
      + labeled_graph: Fix remove_labeled_vertex so that it actually removes
        the label too.
      + r_c_shortest_paths: Fix bug that the single-solution variant did not
        always return the shortest path.
      + read_graphviz: Fix stack overflow (oss-fuzz issue 66719) and
        non-keyword subgraph parsing.
      + Many miscellaneous improvements: broken links, typos, etc.

  * Intrusive:
      + Fixed bug GitHub #86: Invalid UTF-8 character in comment
  * JSON:
      + Support for GCC versions older than version 5.0 is deprecated and will
        stop in Boost 1.88.0.
      + source_location parameter was added to throwing accessor functions.
      + Parse option to tolerate invalid UTF-16 surrogate pairs, and produce

      + Lots of minor fixes and improved code coverage.
  * Multiprecision:
      + Make sure eval_convert_to() does not terminate with super large
        numbers, see 618.
      + Fix sinc implementation to match behavior of Boost.Math.
      + Fix divide-by-zero in cpp_int modulus operations.
      + Fix underflow behavior consistency for integers greater than 128-bits,
        see 626.
  * MySQL:
      + The long-deprecated functions query, start_query, execute_statement and
        start_statement_execution (and their async equivalents) have been
        removed.
      + Breaking changes to experimental APIs:
          o The identifier class (client-side SQL formatting) has been removed.
            Use the new format specifiers feature, instead.
          o The required interface for custom formatters has been changed to
            accomodate the new format specifiers API.
          o any_connection::async_connect now requires that its connect_params
            argument be kept alive until the operation completes. The overload
            taking a const connect_params* has been removed.
          o character_set::name is now a const char* instead of a string_view,
            as MySQL character set names can't contain NULL characters.
          o any_connection internal buffer is now limited to 64MB. If you need
            to read or write rows bigger than that, increase
            any_connection_params::max_buffer_size. connection and their helper
            typedefs are not limited.
          o Renamed any_connection_params::initial_read_buffer_size to
            initial_buffer_size.
          o Renamed pool_params::initial_read_buffer_size to
            initial_buffer_size.
      + New experimental API: pipelines. Pipelines can increase efficiency by
        coalescing several requests in a single network packet. Pipelines can
        be used to run text queries, prepare, execute and close statements,
        reset session state and set the connection's character set.
      + Client-side SQL formatting now supports ranges out of the box.
        Formatting can be further customized using the new sequence function.
        Use cases like batch inserts and batch lookups can be significantly
        simplified using this functionality.
      + Client-side SQL formatting now supports format specifiers which modify
        how values are formatted. {:i} formats a string as a dynamic SQL
        identifiers, and {:r} outputs a raw unescaped
      + The static interface (static_results and static_execution_state) now
        supports Boost.Pfr types using pfr_by_name and pfr_by_position. Added
        underlying_row_t to support such types.
      + date and datetime can now be constructed from and converted to C++20
        std::chrono::local_time.
      + Added any_connection_params::max_buffer_size, which allows to set a
        limit to the connection's internal buffer.
      + Added is_fatal_error, which allows users can now distinguish between
        fatal (which require closing and re-opening the connection) and
        non-fatal error codes.
      + Added formattable_ref, a type-erased reference type that can refer to
        any type satisfying the Formattable concept.
      + Fixed an ODR violation under MSVC which could cause crashes in release
        builds when using Boost.MySQL with other code also using asio::
        coroutine in different translation units.
  * Odeint:
      + Added CMake Option BOOST_NUMERIC_ODEINT_NO_ADAPTORS to reduce
        dependencies, see 82
      + Fixed CMake detection of MPI.
  * Process:
      + Moved the old boost.process to v1 subfolder and inline namespace.
        deprecated process/*.hpp v1 headers
      + Turned v2 into a compile library.
      + Fixed usage on alpine linux / musl
  * Stacktrace:
      + Big new feature: stacktrace from arbitrary exception for Windows. std::
        stacktrace::from_current_exception() now works on Windows platform.
        Many thanks to huangqinjin for the implementation PR#159 Now on POSIX
        and Windows the from_current_exception() function returns the
        stacktrace of the current exception object as if the stacktrace was
        captured at the point of throwing the exception.
      + Fixed inclusion of rarely used Windows SDK headers which can cause
        conflict with other code using Windows SDK. Thanks to Marat Abrarov for
        fixing the issue PR#157.
      + Build option boost.stacktrace.from_exception now properly works on
        MacOS. Thanks to Peter Dimov for the fix PR#166.
      + Fixed a typo in assert expression. Thanks to Kilian Henneberger for the
        bug report #164.
      + Fixed shadowing warnings. Thanks to Nigel Stewart for the bug report #
        141.
      + Added dladdr minimal support for AIX. Many thanks to Cl??ment Chigot
        for the implementation PR#114.
      + Added Boost::stacktrace CMake alias that refers to the best supported
        implementation of Boost.Stacktrace on the platform. Thanks to Alex for
        the feature PR#167.
      + Significant improvement of CMake: multiple fixes, added many new tests,
        improved CI. Many thanks to Peter Dimov for all the improvements.
      + Fix addr2line work when the process is looked up via PATH. Thanks to
        Schreischildkroete for the bug report and to Jens Richter for fix #72.
  * Test:
      + Fix -Wundef in configuration step.
      + Fix unreachable return compilation error on MSVC.
  * Unordered:
      + Added container pmr aliases when header <memory_resource> is available.
        The alias boost::unordered::pmr::[container] refers to boost::unordered
        ::[container] with a std::pmr::polymorphic_allocator allocator type.
      + Equipped open-addressing and concurrent containers to internally
        calculate and provide statistical metrics affected by the quality of
        the hash function. This functionality is enabled by the global macro
        BOOST_UNORDERED_ENABLE_STATS.
      + Avalanching hash functions must now be marked via an is_avalanching
        typedef with an embedded value constant set to true (typically,
        defining is_avalanching as std::true_type). using is_avalanching = void
        is deprecated but allowed for backwards compatibility.
      + Added Visual Studio Natvis framework custom visualizations for
        containers and iterators. This works for all containers with an
        allocator using raw pointers. In this release, containers and iterators
        are not supported if their allocator uses fancy pointers. This may be
        addressed in later releases.
  * UUID:
      + Major update.
      + C++03 is no longer supported, a C++11 compiler is required. (This
        includes GCC 4.8 or later, MSVC 14.0 (VS 2015) or later, and
        MinGW-w64.)
      + Decreased number of Boost dependencies from 39 (in total) to just 5.
      + Updated to reflect the newer RFC 9562.
      + Added generators for time-based UUIDs.
      + Many other improvements, see the revision history.
  * Wave:
      + Replaced one use of vsprintf with the more secure vsnprintf
      + Fixed bug:
          o #197: Improper signed overflow handling (UB and a missing division
            check)
  * WinAPI:
      + Added BOOST_USE_WINAPI_VERSION CMake option, which allows users to
        specify the Windows version for Boost to target.

Updated Tools

  * BoostBook:
      + DTD updated: constructor, copy-assignment and destructor elements are
        now allowed inside method-group elements.
      + Many fixes and improvements in Doxygen-generated documentation:
          o Fixed duplicate equal signs in Doxygen-generated enum value
            initializers.
          o Disabled alphabetical sorting of function arguments. The sorting
            can be re-enabled by setting the new boost.sort.params XSL
            parameter to 1.
          o Added support for custom class member grouping. See Doxygen tags @
            name and @{/@}.
          o Added support for Doxygen references to classes, methods, enums,
            variables, etc. (see @ref tag).
          o Added support for @remark and @Important tags.
          o Added support for @parblock tags, which can be used to place
            multiple paragraphs under a tag that expects a single paragraph as
            an argument (e.g. @returns).
          o Template parameter defaults that refer to implementation details
            are now concealed, similar to function parameter defaults.
          o Improved presentation of unnamed enums. Instead of showing a
            synthesized name such as @0, the name is either omitted or is [
            unnamed], if the name is necessary to introduce a link to the enum
            documentation.
          o Changed the "See Also" (@sa) blocks to be displayed inline, similar
            to "Returns".
          o Fixed presentation of multiple exception specifications (@throws).
          o Added support for free form description of throwing behavior. If
            the exception type after the @throws tag is "~" then the exception
            type is omitted from the output, and the following description is
            displayed directly in the "Throws" section.
          o Removed redundant spaces in return types and template parameters.
  * Build:
      + Includes release of B2 version 5.2.1.
netbsd-srcmastr pushed a commit that referenced this issue Oct 6, 2024
Highlights
 - Added support for 32X emulation (with a caveat regarding performance)
 - Significant audio quality improvements for Genesis / Mega Drive and SNES
 - Support for loading directly from .zip and .7z files
 - Lots of Genesis / Mega Drive bugfixes

32X Notes
 - All released 32X games plus Doom 32X Resurrection should be playable except for the 6 FMV games that require the Sega CD 32X combo
     - Doom 32X Resurrection features that require Sega CD do not currently work (CD-DA music, offloading some audio processing to the Sega CD 68000)
 - SH-2 CPU cache and basic SH-2 memory access timings are emulated, so overall SH-2 speed should be moderately accurate (though still faster than actual hardware in some cases)
 - SH-2 emulation is currently not optimized well - full-speed 32X emulation requires a CPU with decent single-core performance, and fast-forward speed will be very limited
     - For a comparison point, the Steam Deck CPU barely runs 32X at full speed from my testing
     - This will likely improve in a future release - the current implementation is pure interpreter because that was easiest to implement and it (surprisingly) still runs at full speed with a fast enough host CPU

New Features
 - Added support for loading directly from .zip and .7z compressed archives for every console except Sega CD (#91)
     - Archives containing multiple images are only partially supported; in this case the emulator will always load the first file with a recognized file extension
 - (SNES) Added an audio enhancement option for cubic Hermite interpolation between decoded ADPCM samples, which usually makes the audio sound sharper and less muffled
     - The difference is most noticeable in games that use low sample rate audio, such as the Donkey Kong Country trilogy
     - This is off by default because it pretty radically changes the sound in some games
 - (Genesis) Added an option to have no controller plugged into one or both of the controller ports, for games that behave differently based on the presence or absence of a controller (#113)
 - (NES) Added support for the UNROM 512 mapper (iNES mapper 30), a homebrew mapper used by a number of games including Black Box Challenge and Battle Kid 2 (#73 / #86)
     - This mapper unusually supports flash memory mapped as PRG "ROM"; for the games that have this (e.g. Black Box Challenge), it's emulated by persisting the entire current contents of PRG ROM to the save file whenever the game modifies itself
 - (GB) Added partial support for the Hudson HuC-3 mapper, used by Robopon and a few Japan-only games (#89)
     - "Partial" because the builtin speaker, the IR sensor, and parts of the event/alarm functionality are not emulated
 - GUI: Added a new "Open Using" menu option to open a file using a specific emulator core, rather than always choosing the core based on file extension (#121)
 - GUI: Added an option to explicitly set the UI theme to light or dark rather than always using the system default

Improvements
 - (Genesis) YM2612 DAC crossover distortion (aka the "ladder effect") is now emulated, which significantly improves music accuracy in a number of games; this is extremely noticeable in Streets of Rage, Streets of Rage 2, and After Burner II, among others
     - There is also a new option to disable ladder effect emulation, since the effect was less pronounced on later console models (and also because I think it's neat to hear how it affects the sound by toggling a checkbox)
 - (SMS/GG/Genesis) Replaced the PSG and YM2612 low-pass filters with much more aggressive ones; this should generally improve audio quality, and in some cases will remove erroneous buzzing/popping noises that were present before (e.g. in The Adventures of Batman & Robin) (#108)
 - Improved audio output behavior for all emulator backends, which should significantly reduce the likelihood of audio pops caused by audio buffer underflow
 - GUI: Added help text to most options menus
 - GUI: Improved performance when the main list table is large

Genesis / Mega Drive Fixes
 - Fixed the PSG's noise channel not oscillating when the period is set to 0 (which should behave the same as period of 1); this fixes missing high-frequency noise in Knuckles' Chaotix among other games
 - Fixed a degenerate case for performance when a game repeatedly writes the same value to specific VDP registers during active display, as After Burner Complete does
 - Fixed some 68000 CPU bugs discovered while working on 32X support
     - Implemented line 1010/1111 exception handling for when the 68000 executes an illegal opcode where the highest 4 bits are 1010 or 1111; Zaxxon's Motherbase 2000 depends on this to boot
     - Fixed divide by zero exception handling pushing the wrong PC value onto the stack; After Burner Complete frequently divides by zero and depends on correctly handling the exception
     - Fixed the DIVS instruction finishing way too quickly in some cases where the division overflows a signed 16-bit result but the CPU doesn't detect the overflow early
 - Fixed an off-by-one error in determining whether to set the sprite overflow flag in the VDP status register; this fixes flickering sprite graphics in Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle (#125)
     - This was a regression introduced in v0.6.1 as part of the changes to get Overdrive 2's textured cube effect working
 - Adjusted how writes to the controller CTRL registers ($A10009 / $A1000B) affect the controller's TH line; this fixes controls not working properly in Trouble Shooter (#110)
 - Made it possible for games to read the VINT flag in the VDP status register as 1 slightly before the 68000 INT6 interrupt is raised; this fixes Tyrants: Fight Through Time and Ex-Mutants failing to boot (#127)
 - Implemented undocumented behavior regarding how the Z80 BIT instruction sets the S and P/V flags; this fixes missing audio in Ex-Mutants, which relies on this behavior in its audio driver code
 - Implemented approximate emulation of memory refresh delay
     - This is emulated by simply stalling the 68000 for 2 out of every 128 mclk cycles, unless it executes a very long instruction that doesn't access the bus mid-instruction (e.g. multiplication or division)
     - Memory refresh delay is not emulated in 32X mode because it seemed to break audio synchronization between the Genesis and 32X hardware in some games
 - Added SRAM mappings for several games that have SRAM in the cartridge but don't declare it in the cartridge header: NHL 96, Might and Magic, and Might and Magic III (#107 / #116 / #117)
 - Little-endian ROM images are now detected and byteswapped on load; this along with a custom ROM address mapping fixes Triple Play failing to boot (#112)
 - The emulator will now recognize the unconventionial region string "EUROPE" as meaning that the game only supports PAL/EU; this fixes Another World incorrectly defaulting to NTSC/US mode instead of PAL/EU (#122)
 - Unused bits in the Z80 BUSACK register ($A11100) now read approximate open bus instead of 0; this fixes Danny Sullivan's Indy Heat failing to boot (#120)
 - Improved VDP DMA timing; this fixes corrupted graphics in OutRunners (#118)
 - The vertical interrupt is now delayed by one 68000 instruction if a game enables vertical interrupts while a vertical interrupt is pending; this fixes Sesame Street: Counting Cafe failing to boot (#119)
 - The Z80 BUSACK line now changes immediately in response to bus arbiter register writes instead of waiting for the next Z80 instruction time slot; this fixes the Arkagis Revolution demo failing to boot (#123)
 - The emulator will now enable the bank-switching Super Street Fighter 2 mapper if the cartridge header declares the system as "SEGA DOA" in addition to the standard value of "SEGA SSF"; this fixes the Demons of Asteborg demo not working properly (#115)

Other Fixes
 - Fixed save state slots not working properly if the ROM filename contains multiple dots; before this fix, only one slot would ever be used
 - (Sega CD) When a game issues a CDD command while the drive is playing, the drive now continues to read one more sector before it changes behavior in response to the new command; this fixes Radical Rex crashing during the intro (#100)
 - (Sega CD) Writes to PRG RAM by the main CPU and the Z80 are now blocked unless the sub CPU is removed from the bus; this fixes Dungeon Explorer from crashing after the title screen (#104)
 - (Sega CD) The sub CPU is now halted if it accesses word RAM in 2M mode while word RAM is owned by the main CPU, and it remains halted until the main CPU transfers ownership back to the sub CPU. This fixes glitched graphics in Marko's Magic Football (#101)
 - (Sega CD) Various fixes to CDC register and DMA behavior; with this plus all of the above fixes, the emulator now fully passes the mcd-verificator test suite (#105)
 - (NES) The UxROM mapper code (iNES mapper 2) no longer assumes that the cartridge has no PRG RAM; this fixes Alwa's Awakening: The 8-Bit Edition failing to boot (#93)
 - (SNES) Adjusted timing of PPU line rendering to occur 4 mclk cycles later; this fixes Lemmings having a flickering line at the top of the screen during gameplay
     - This worked correctly prior to v0.7.2 - it was broken by the CPU timing adjustment that fixed Rendering Ranger R2 from constantly freezing
 - (GB) Fixed the window X condition incorrectly being able to trigger when WX=255 and fine X scrolling is used (SCX % 8 != 0); this fixes corrupted graphics in Pocket Family GB 2
 - Fixed the emulator crashing if prescale factor is set so high that the upscaled frame size exceeds 8192x8192 in either dimension
