WARNING:
I am not very smart and the config file does not generate properly. An update is on the way with some additional features, but the current workaround it to open Canvas.cfg and remove the 4th line (the duplicate line).

Rubrics:

  • In the past, I maintained a remote source of rubrics that the program sources from
  • You will now have to source a copy of the rubric yourself
    • Place rubric within the same location as the script
    • You can create a folder for the rubrics if you would like, the script will search through every file in the current and sub folders
    • Rubrics are detected by having a file name that starts with Assignment and ends with -Rubric.xlsx
    • This also means that you can customize the default state of the rubric

How to create Canvas Token:

  1. Go to Canvas (Web)
  2. Navigate to Account > Settings
  3. + New Access Token
  4. Give it any name and an optional expiration date
  5. Copy the token to give to the program

How to get institution and course ID:

  1. Go to Canvas (Web)
  2. Click into any course
  3. Get information from URL
  • Institution of https://sfsu.instructure.com/courses/123456 is sfsu
  • Course ID of https://sfsu.instructure.com/courses/123456 is 123456
  • To update the config, open Canvas.cfg in your favorite text editor
    • Line 1: Institution
    • Line 2: Canvas Token
    • Line 3: Course ID
  • To fully reset, delete Canvas.cfg

Note:

  • Chrome might block the download
  • Each operating system will probably give you some sort of warning about running an unknown file. If you trust, please proceed. If you do not trust, do not use. You can download the source file directly and run it directly using Python3 if you know how.

MacOS Warning:

  • There was a bug in the code that caused CanvasToken.cfg to be created at ~
    • If there is a CanvasToken.cfg at ~ you can delete it
    • Alternatively you can move the file to the correct location (same folder as the program file)
      • Also rename it to Canvas.cfg
