I see commands like this nix-shell --indirect --add-root gcroots/dep used to make Nix shells not be garbage collected, but neither options are described in the nix-shell manpage so I'm not sure where to get information on what they do. If someone has a resource explaining these options, I would be glad to submit a PR.

--indirect at least was also removed from nix-build (#1913). I feel like it's existence with these commands may have always been unintentional.

@velovix the nix-store manpage explains the use of the options, although they're only documented for nix-store and nix-instantiate (which points to the former)...

Would it be a good idea to do like nix-instantiate does and simply reference the nix-store documentation for these flags?
