Describe the bug

The documentation says:

Edit /etc/nix/nix.conf

https://nixos.org/manual/nix/unstable/advanced-topics/post-build-hook.html#updating-nix-configuration

but the file is read-only.

Steps To Reproduce

  1. Go to '...'
  2. Click on '....'
  3. Scroll down to '....'
  4. See error

Expected behavior

Have working instructions.

nix-env --version output
