Release list
0.1.17
-
(Experimental) Added Discord Rich Presence, which will display the status of the game you are playing on Discord, alongside GOG Galaxy. This is completely optional via the plugin settings.
-
Improved game recognition (artwork / name lookup)
-
Sequel numbers are now decisive: "Shrek 2" no longer matches "Shrek 3", and "Resident Evil" no longer matches "Resident Evil 4". (examples).
-
Roman and Arabic numerals are treated alike ("Shrek II" = "Shrek 2"), and "Shrek2" (no space) is understood. (examples).
-
Games with long subtitles match whether or not you type the subtitle.
-
IGDB alternative names are also compared (e.g. "GTA V").
-
If the first search finds nothing, the plugin retries with a few variants (no subtitle, swapped numeral), up to 8 searches per game. This applies to both IGDB and Steam.
-
When nothing matches, the log now shows the closest candidate and its score.
-
-
Launching a game no longer freezes Galaxy while checking that the game's files exist (for example, a sleeping external drive).
-
Launching two games at the same moment now starts only one; the other is refused with "A game is already running".
-
General code review.
Tip
To update the plugin, there is no need to disconnect (and not recommended) and reconnect it. Simply replace the LocalGames folder with the new one.
0.1.16
-
Code cleanup and optimization
-
Game arguments are now passed exactly as typed, including values with quotes and spaces.
-
A game that is removed and added again keeps its identity and playtime.
-
The settings page is more responsive and is only available while it is open, and it is protected against access from other web pages.
-
Fewer disk checks in the background.
-
Clearer messages when a game cannot start or the configuration cannot be saved.
-
Rows with only a name are no longer dropped silently, and only full paths are accepted.
-
Fixed a settings page problem where a game with correct paths could stay on “Add the .exe” / “Add XMCL details”, not be marked “Found”, and not be counted. The page now retries when the plugin does not answer a file check, and shows “Checking…” instead of an empty state while it waits.
-
-
Changes to the configuration UI
-
Minor aesthetic changes.
-
A search box appears once you have five or more games, so you can find a game by its name or path.
-
-
The character limit for game names was increased from 30 to 50.
-
Removed "Start in folder" argument for exes file.
-
Your game list is now backed up automatically. If the list file ever gets damaged, the plugin restores your games from the backup instead of starting empty.
-
The settings page now tells you when a newer version of the plugin is published on GitHub, with a notice at the top and a link to the release. Nothing is downloaded or installed automatically.
-
You can now configure games directly without having to disconnect and reconnect the plugin. This allows you to edit everything without the tedious task of reconnecting the plugin—though it isn't perfect:
-
Sometimes it may appear as "Unknown game." The solution is simply to rename it—doing so once is enough, and this may only happen the first time.
-
It doesn't have cover art because GOG doesn't recognize it, so you can add whatever cover art you like; the same applies to the name—doing it once is enough, and it shouldn't reset.
-
You'll have to hit "Launch" every time you want to configure it. It doesn't save playtime or any other data, but well, it's just one extra step you have to do.
-
I didn't add an option to make this setting optional; however, if you don't like it appearing next to your game list, you can hide it or assign it a tag so that it always stays separate from the other games.
-
-
(Experimental) An option to import Minecraft (Java Edition) instances from the XMCL launcher has been added. As this option undergoes testing, more options will be added.
- There will be a button allowing you to switch between different launchers (currently only XMCL); this button will also include the Minecraft Bedrock version—if it is installed on your PC, the system will automatically detect it, and you will be able to import it.
Warning
For this update, it will be necessary to reconnect the plugin to avoid issues. Backup your game_times.json file to keep your game time safe.
