ACNHRecomp 0.6.2: a real app on every computer

Important

You need ACNHRecomp-Importer to play. It turns your own copy of Animal Crossing: New Horizons into the game folder ACNHRecomp plays. ACNHRecomp-Importer is available on our Discord: discord.gg/VJW9Dtdu7a

Warning

Work in progress, made by fans: expect bugs. Back up your saves (the user folder inside your game folder) and report what you find.

What's new

  • The ACNHRecomp icon everywhere. It is on the executables (Windows Explorer and the taskbar), on every window of the launcher and of the game, in the Dock and on the Mac app, and on the Linux shortcuts.
  • Keep it on your desktop. The launcher's home page has:
    • Windows: Add to desktop, which puts a shortcut on the desktop and in the Start menu;
    • macOS: Install in Applications. The package is now a real ACNHRecomp.app; this copies it into Applications and puts it on the desktop. Then open it from Launchpad, Spotlight or the Dock;
    • Linux: Add to desktop, which adds ACNHRecomp, with its icon, to the applications menu and to the desktop.
  • Update notices. The launcher looks for a newer release when it opens and says so on its home page, with a button to download it. You can turn this off in the launcher's Settings.
  • The version in use is in the launcher's Settings and in the game's settings (F1) > About.
  • As in 0.6.1, the first start downloads Brazilian Portuguese and the 60 FPS files by itself.

How to play

  1. Get ACNHRecomp-Importer from our Discord and prepare your game folder from your own copy.
  2. Download the package for your system below:

macOS 14+ (Apple Silicon) ACNHRecomp-v0.6.2-macOS-arm64.zip Unzip it. The first time, double-click Start ACNHRecomp.command (it lets macOS open the unsigned app). After that, use Install in Applications
Linux (x86-64, glibc 2.35+) ACNHRecomp-v0.6.2-linux-x64.tar.gz Extract it, then run ./Start ACNHRecomp.sh
Android 10+ (Snapdragon) ACNHRecomp-v0.6.2-android.apk Install it and pick the game folder copied to the phone (guide)
  1. Choose your game folder in the launcher, and play. The full guide for each system is in the README.

Updating from an older version: download the new package and replace the old folder (or app). Your game folder, saves and settings are not inside it, so nothing is lost.

Known issues

  • The Android app does not download the translation and the 60 FPS files itself yet: copy a game folder that has been started on a computer.
  • On Android, a rare GPU hang (the game closes) can still happen while it loads. It is being investigated.
  • Android supports Snapdragon (Adreno) phones only (#12).
