Unofficial macOS driver for the Rane SL1 (Serato Scratch Live) – clearer installer and a quieter log. The sound is unchanged from 0.1.1.

What's new

  • 🧾 Installer pages (English and German): unofficial / use-at-your-own-risk notice, which DJ software works (Mixxx tested; VirtualDJ as a sound card, timecode untested), why the installer is not notarized, power and charger notes, and Mixxx setup tips.
  • 🔇 Quieter log while the SL1 hangs: repeated failures are logged at most once every 10 s, with a summary of what was suppressed.
  • 🩺 Headroom log lines show “last at 0.00 s” when there was no late access.

Install

Download OpenSL1-0.1.2.pkg below and open it – it replaces older versions. If macOS blocks it: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway. To remove the driver, open OpenSL1-Uninstall-0.1.2.pkg. Compare the files with SHA256SUMS.txt if you want to be sure.

Known issues

  • “Rane SL1” is listed in Audio MIDI Setup and other apps even when nothing is plugged in.
  • Plugging the Mac's charger in or out can make the SL1 drop off USB (plug it in before the set; ideas such as the SL1's 9 V supply are untested).
  • Mixxx 2.6.0-beta can freeze when sound settings are applied with the SL1 (under investigation).

Use at your own risk – this is an unofficial hobby project, provided “as is” without warranty. Tested on a MacBook Air 13-inch, M4, 2025 with macOS 27.0.1 and Mixxx 2.6.0-beta. Full list: CHANGELOG.
