Provisioning-fix release. Two upstream changes had broken fresh installs:
one made every transcription fail, the other blocked Linux setup outright.
Transcription broke on runtimes provisioned since 2026-09-29
PyAV 19.0.0 (released 2026-09-29) removed the metadata_errors argument
to av.open().
faster-whisper 1.2.1 passes it on every call, so every /watch on a
freshly provisioned runtime failed with:
TypeError: open() got an unexpected keyword argument 'metadata_errors'
faster-whisper declares only av>=11 and watch-local did not pin av, so
/watch-setup and setup.ps1 -UpdateRuntime resolved straight to 19.
Upstream has fixed it (SYSTRAN/faster-whisper#1495),
but 1.2.1 is still the latest release.
av is now pinned to 18.1.0, the version six weeks of green
integration runs used. A new unit test fails if av is unpinned or
reaches 19 while faster-whisper is 1.2.x.
If /watch fails with that TypeError: update the plugin, then run
setup.ps1 -UpdateRuntimeIt rebuilds the whisper venv from the pinned manifest. Runtimes
provisioned before 2026-09-29 are unaffected.
Linux ffmpeg re-pinned to a BtbN month-end build
The previous pin pointed at a daily autobuild that BtbN prunes after
~2 weeks, so fresh Linux provisioning had been failing with a 404 since
2026-08-03. The manifest now pins the 2026-07-31 month-end build (same
8.1.2 release branch), which BtbN retains long-term.
Verification
- Reproduced the
TypeErroron Windows with av 19.0.1; av 18.1.0 decodes
the same input cleanly. - Integration (fresh Linux provision + real
whisper_run.py) green on the
release commit withav==18.1.0installed. - 167 pytest + 94 Pester, all CI validators and the living-docs check pass.
