make​: Fatal error​: Command failed for target `miniperlmain.o'

The same thing happens when I do "make test" or "make install". I tried going to the "t" directory and running "TEST" which doesn't execute. When I do "./perl harness", it says "perl not found". I would appreciate any insight you could provide. I'm using Sun's compiler.
