This is a bug report for perl from geirem@​morgoth.uio.no,
generated with the help of perlbug 1.26 running under perl 5.00503.

I have a program with two classes included through the use
directive. These classes share some internal functions which I
have placed in a separate file. When I try to load the file
with the require function, only the first of my modules actually
gets to read this file. No errors are display during compilation
and execution. I was able to get around the problem by creating
hard links to the require'ed file. Is this a problem with perl
or my computer?

I cannot recreate this with a smaller program, so here are the
headers of the files used by my program.

The require's in the classes really attempts to load the same file, but
if I break this link and use the same filename after require, things
silently go wrong.

This is not a bug.

the documentation for require clearly says​:

"Otherwise, demands that a library file be included if it hasn't
already been included."

(from perldoc -f require)

You probably want to use 'do'.

For programming help, you could try the various comp.lang.perl.*
newsgroups. But make sure you've done your homework first (i.e. RTFM
and RTFFAQ).
