PlaneSlate Firmware 0.9.70
PlaneSlate Firmware 0.9.70 — Micro and Mini
Fix content installation failing with "Invalid update size" when a catalog contains both the places database and Airport data. Accept the supported 8–10 catalog files; exact manifest membership, sizes, checksums and atomic activation remain validated. This fixes the shared reader used by USB and Wi-Fi content installation.
Both device builds and 42,890 native checks passed. Regression tests install 8-, 9- and 10-file catalogs for both products, including rejection of interrupted, wrong-product and damaged streams. The real published 1.0.29 content streams also passed native installation and activation checks for both products. Physical-device installation remains to be confirmed.
Install firmware first, then retry Liveries & Catalogs 1.0.29. Existing settings and installed SD content are preserved; no device is flashed by publication.
PlaneSlate Micro Firmware 0.9.69
Micro-only release: memory and long-run improvements, including expiration of recent observation and display-selection histories during quiet and offline periods. Normal touch, automatic content updates and consent-controlled reporting are retained.
The functional Micro source completed a 24-hour live test with no additional boot/crash, no recording gaps and verified restoration afterward. Release identity only changed to 0.9.69 / sequence 62; the release binary has a new checksum. Both product builds and 42,890 native checks passed. This does not establish indefinite stability or test unobserved outage/update/report paths.
Mini remains at the existing public 0.9.68 build. Its feed entry and immutable asset URLs are unchanged; this release uploads only Micro binaries.
PlaneSlate Firmware 0.9.68
PlaneSlate Firmware 0.9.68 — Night Mode for Micro and Mini
- Add scheduled Night Mode under Display: Dim display, Display sleep or Clock only, with independent night brightness.
- Disabled by default. Initial schedule: 22:00–07:00, Dim, 10% brightness.
- Use the same local timezone and daylight saving rules as the clock; support overnight windows. Without valid local time the normal display remains active. Start and end times must differ.
- Preserve daytime brightness, previous content, rotation timing and interrupted clock state. Sleep and Clock only pause rotation; Dim continues it.
- Touch wakes Display sleep for 30 seconds. Tap Clock only for a ten-second return to previous content. An explicitly enabled permanent clock remains active.
- Keep ADS-B processing, Track a Flight and Wi-Fi running during scheduled display sleep.
Both product builds, 42,258 native checks, browser settings tests and release/catalog checks passed. Physical validation of the three night behaviors and touch wake on both products follows this WLAN release.
PlaneSlate Firmware 0.9.67
PlaneSlate Firmware 0.9.67 — Micro and Mini
- Page indicators follow the enabled screens for Local Traffic and Track a Flight. Clock has its own active lime dot, including temporary and permanent clock mode.
- Fix Mini clock tap-to-close: releasing a single finger now returns to the previous screen and resumes rotation correctly.
- Balloon and airship radar symbols remain upright regardless of heading, including custom SD outlines. Other aircraft continue to rotate normally.
Both production builds, the full native firmware suite and two-product release/catalog checks passed. Please verify clock touch and rotation on your devices after the WLAN update.
PlaneSlate Firmware 0.9.66
PlaneSlate Firmware 0.9.66
Pure digital and Pilot analog watch faces for Micro and Mini, with smooth digits/hands and the existing date, weekday, seconds and 12/24-hour preferences. Tap anywhere on the clock to return to the previous content screen and continue rotation. Double-tap the page dots on normal content to open the temporary clock.
Fix airport rows rejected because JSON coordinate rounding differed slightly from the precise binary index. Distances and map positions still use the precise index; inconsistent coordinates and corrupt files remain rejected. Airport cancellation, metadata and logo cases are covered by regression tests.
Make the Look Outside livery regression independent of optional local demo artwork. It now decodes its own verified PNG and checks exact/fallback previews as well as invalid, missing and unavailable artwork.
Existing saved settings and SD content are preserved. Both device builds and full native, WebUI and package/release tests passed. The new watch faces and return tap await physical confirmation after installation; no device update is triggered by this release.
PlaneSlate Firmware 0.9.65
PlaneSlate Firmware 0.9.65
- Fix clock crashes caused by an incorrectly compiled weekday lookup on the devices.
- Double-tap the page dots to show the clock for ten seconds. Swipe up on Aircraft again switches aircraft.
- Keep clock entry, exit and minute changes visible reliably.
- Show origin and destination names above the route map, with airport codes at the map markers and unchanged map size.
Validation: both product builds and 34,063 native checks passed. All eight Mini clock combinations (digital/analog, English/German, seconds off/on) passed on real hardware without a restart; previous settings restored. Physical double-tap interaction and Micro hardware confirmation remain pending.
Existing Wi-Fi/device settings and SD content are preserved.
PlaneSlate Firmware 0.9.64
PlaneSlate Firmware 0.9.64
- Clock: digital Jost and analog designs, optional date/weekday/seconds and 12/24-hour format. Uses existing NTP time and your local timezone; valid time continues during network interruptions.
- Add Clock to Local and Track a Flight screen rotation with its own duration, disabled by default.
- Permanent clock mode with Back to the previous operating screen. Swipe up shows a temporary ten-second clock; repeat to extend, then resume the previous screen's remaining rotation time without stopping tracking or history.
- Efficient clock updates: minute changes without seconds, one-second changes with seconds enabled. Existing brightness/orientation/sleep handling applies.
- Track a Flight: independent saved map radius, default 50 km, plus optional nearby airborne aircraft, off by default. Configure under Aircraft / Track a Flight.
- Fetch surroundings only while the tracking map is visible with fresh position, using bounded refresh/backoff. Share immutable traffic snapshots, expire stale neighbors and keep the tracked aircraft visible above other markers.
Existing settings adopt safe defaults; no reset is required. Both product builds and automated checks are validated. Physical clock/touch and optional-surroundings performance await device testing. Long-term Mini stability remains under observation.
PlaneSlate Firmware 0.9.63
PlaneSlate Firmware 0.9.63
- Radar: hide the entire trail when its aircraft leaves the visible circular radar, disappears from the current traffic population, or is hidden after landing. Retain the wider bounded history so entering aircraft can arrive with a trail. Altitude colors and constant opacity remain unchanged.
- Wi-Fi: share a bounded peer sample across status, health and roaming; avoid disconnected-peer queries. Clear online state on disconnect, station stop and IP loss.
- Wi-Fi recovery: between repeated failed connection attempts, search for a stronger matching saved-network radio, preserving setup-client and installation protection.
- Mini: use PSRAM for TLS allocations, reduce metadata/route cache limits and increase the data-task stack from 32 to 48 KiB to improve resource reserves.
- Preserve the existing Wi-Fi protocol policy and Micro cache/task-stack sizes.
Both product builds and the complete native suite are checked for this release. An earlier local 0.9.63 stability build passed a controlled Mini repeater outage/recovery test without a restart; automatic return to strong reception was confirmed. Long-term resolution of the earlier intermittent crashes is not yet established. Final radar visibility awaits device testing.
PlaneSlate Firmware 0.9.62
PlaneSlate Firmware 0.9.62
- Track a Flight: retain the route map across automatic screen rotation. A started partial map can finish in the background, without increasing the per-pass download budget.
- Tracking screen 3: show origin and destination from the same resolved route used by the map, with IATA/ICAO fallback.
- Radar and route maps: retain already painted tiles while loading missing coverage, even if the compressed tile cache evicts earlier tiles. Published images remain immutable and viewport/style changes reset coverage.
- Keep complete radar maps prepared across page rotation.
Both product builds and native checks are validated locally. Device validation remains pending.
PlaneSlate Firmware 0.9.61
PlaneSlate Firmware 0.9.61
-
Aircraft: Custom Interests defaults off; My Interests appears only when selected. Existing customized weights are retained and can be enabled or disabled without deleting them.
-
Language is a global card above the Wi-Fi connection status, with immediate page translation and save/reload support.
-
Display: Live display preview, Units, Radar, Screen. Radar groups map style/key/preview, symbol style and trails. Screen groups rotation, brightness and orientation.
-
System: Device information, Firmware, Liveries & Catalogs, Device status & maintenance. Automatic content updates and voluntary missing reports are integrated into the content card.
-
Maintenance information and actions are always visible. System Health is nested and collapsed by default; its details load on opening.
-
Tracking search: incomplete route checks no longer discard confirmed flight matches. Confirmed candidates remain selectable while missing routes continue to be checked.
Both product builds and the full native suite pass. Local browser checks use an isolated simulated device; physical validation remains pending.
