We've invested a lot of time Nailing Funnels. To make sure users get the most value out of it, I think it's worth documenting all the new features and use cases we can solve with funnels. I'm specifically thinking about solution-focused tutorials, e.g. understanding your conversion rates rather than just a manual of where to click on the app.

Happy to pair up with someone on this, anyone interested in pairing or picking this up?

I don't presently have too much direct knowledge about the functionality so probably wouldn't be the best main author. But I'm more than happy to be a reviewer. It would be a great opportunity to learn too.

@paolodamico - another option would be for you to provide the key points as you believe they should be documented and I can do the docs. A good way of doing this may be for you to record a video walking through the details so I've also got the UI to refer to when documenting.

I'll add this to my todo list for the coming weeks as I just finished wrapping up my first blog post. Want to make sure we document all use cases well. Will definitely ask for help once I have something a bit more advanced.

Posting here the initial draft/context from @marcushyett-ph who's helping with this. Google doc

@paolodamico there's quite a bit of content in the Google doc. What would you say the status is? Do you plan to create a PR or would you like me to pick this up using your draft and create the PR? Happy to do the latter.

The current status is looking for feedback - so would appreciate any thoughts in the doc - when we've resolved that would really appreciate your help ingesting this into a PR...

We also need to create some screenshots too - @paolodamico any project you recommend using for the screenshots (since we probably shouldn't publish data from PostHog directly).

Will try to get to giving feedback on the doc today. As for the screenshots I was thinking of generating them artificially on Figma where we show "skeletons" for most stuff and then just highlight the relevant parts. I think this will both help emphasize the most important parts but also help make sure the screenshots stay relevant even as we change the product. Perhaps @clarkus can help us with some stubs here (also happy to help here myself). At our current rate, normal screenshots will be outdated by the time we publish this 😂

@paolodamico so @joethreepwood suggested https://www.navattic.com/ My comments were...

Demand Gen: A landing page for funnels with some dedicated paid advertising that uses this may be very cool and I think could convert pretty well.

Docs: I can also see how this approach for user guides could work. We presently have embedded videos which can get out of date very quickly and re-recording them is a time consuming process. Manually creating new versions with this would be faster... I also wonder if there would be a way of automating

I'm assuming it won't work on mobile? That it captures the desktop view only and that you author the tutorial for desktop only? Navattic don't have a demo when viewing on mobile.

So, I think it's worth some discussion (GitHub issue?) and maybe we could speak to them to get a shorter-term agreement to try it out/ A/B test?

If we can come up with a static image that doesn't get outdated (through some visual magic) that'd work too.

Happy to help with assets. I do think whatever we show here is going to feel dated at some point, so while we might buy ourselves extra time with visual magic, we can't completely avoid that maintenance task. I can see a list of screenshot needed in the document. What's our timeline on this? I am wrapping up work for funnels this week and gearing up for paths and quantitative analysis. Where does this land in priority against that work?

I'd guess that we want to finish anything blocking for engineering on paths and quant analysis and then this. 100% @clarkus though I'm confident they'll get outdated later rather than sooner.

stuff about navattic

I'm catching up on emails and messages after a few days off, so apologies if this is late but: relevant issue.
