⚡️ PowerGrid 7.0

PowerGrid 7 is a rewrite for Livewire 4 and Tailwind CSS 4. It is faster, has a new filter UI, and leaves your table's look to you.

Requirements

  • PHP 8.3+, Laravel 12+, Livewire 4, Tailwind CSS 4
  • openspout/openspout:^5.0 is optional. You need it for XLSX/CSV export.

Highlights

  • Partial rendering (hot zones). Sorting, paging and filtering re-render only the parts of the table that changed: head, body, pagination, filters, tabs. This means smaller payloads and faster updates. Set POWERGRID_PARTIALS_ENABLED=false to turn it off.
  • New filter panel. Filters can be inline, in a dropdown or in a flyout. Choices are drafts until you press Apply. Active filters show as badges, and the layout is responsive.
  • Status tabs. Tabs above the table that filter it, styled per grid with classes().
  • Multi-sort with persisted state.
  • Persistence on by default for columns, filters and sorting. Use withoutPersist() to opt out.
  • Column improvements. Character limit with ellipsis and a tooltip, column source selection for auto-generated columns, configurable header elements.
  • Grid definitions. Define a grid once and reuse it.
  • Safer by default. HTML returned from field closures is escaped (escape_closure_fields). Return HtmlString for trusted markup.
  • Date filter timezone. params(['timezone' => ...]) now applies: the picked range is read in that timezone and converted to app.timezone.
  • Custom exporters are used for synchronous exports too.
  • AI-ready. Ships Agent Skills and a Laravel Boost guideline. Run php artisan boost:update --discover.

Upgrading from v6

Re-publish the config, because the v6 file references classes that no longer exist:

php artisan vendor:publish --tag=livewire-powergrid-config --force

Changes most likely to break silently:

  • 'filter' => 'outside' is gone. Use inline, dropdown, flyout or null.
  • flatpickr, TomSelect and SlimSelect are no longer loaded by PowerGrid. Install them and expose them on window.
  • onUpdatedEditable() / onUpdatedToggleable() are no longer called. Use onPluginUpdated().
  • Theme keys must be snake_case, and icons are Blade component names (svg.trash).
  • In tests, set POWERGRID_PARTIALS_ENABLED=false in phpunit.xml if Livewire::test() needs fresh rows.
