Official Release: Living Companions on Your Home Screen

The initial public release of MinecraftWidget brings animated and static Minecraft entities directly to your Android launcher with zero background battery drain.

Android 8.0 and up · MinecraftWidget-v1.0.apk · a .sha256 is attached if you want to verify what you downloaded.

New

  • Over 108 Mob Variants: Passive Allays, curious Bees, Frogs, Cats, Wolves, Pandas, and hostile mobs like Creepers, Endermen, and Ghasts with local offline assets.
  • Native Hotbar Inventory: An authentic Minecraft hotbar at the bottom of the companion app that tracks and displays all widgets placed on your launcher.
  • In-App Widget Editor: Tap any entity in the hotbar to open the live editor and reconfigure variants, background cutouts, and behaviors.
  • Horizontal Mirroring (Facing Direction): Flip your entities horizontally (left/right) so they face the direction that fits your launcher setup best.
  • Custom Tap Actions: Choose whether tapping your widget plays authentic mob sound effects (via low-latency SoundPool), triggers complete animation cycles, or applies a physics-based spring wobble.
  • Custom Background Cutouts: Display entities as clean floating cutouts (None), or frame them with Square, Rounded, Circle, or Organic Blob shapes in customizable palette colors.
  • Zero Battery Drain Architecture: Built on native Android RemoteViews and ViewFlipper. Widgets automatically pause when your screen locks or changes tabs—no background service or wake lock required.
  • 100% Offline & Private: Zero internet permissions requested, zero network analytics, and zero runtime downloads.
