First release candidate of UnrealProjectBootstrap, a lightweight Windows utility that discovers an Unreal Engine C++ project, checks build prerequisites, incrementally builds its Editor target, and launches Unreal Editor after a successful build.

  • Installation: Extract UnrealProjectBootstrap-v0.1.0-rc.1.zip directly beside your .uproject, preserving the Scripts/ folder. Close the project's Editor and run OpenProject.bat as your normal Windows user. Missing Microsoft build tools require explicit consent and UAC approval.
  • Environment: Windows x64, Windows PowerShell 5.1, and an already installed UE5 engine with build tooling. The primary tested configuration is UE 5.8.4. A C++ target explicitly declaring TargetType.Editor is required.
  • Validation: All four packaged files match the committed Git contents. Existing validation includes 74 test assertions and a prior successful UE 5.8.4 incremental Editor build. No Unreal build or software installation was performed for packaging.
  • Limitations: Clean-machine installation, actual UAC/reboot handling, and other UE5 versions have not been fully verified end to end. Blueprint-only projects, inherited/computed Editor targets, UE4, and ARM64 are outside scope. Project/engine paths containing ! are rejected.

The ZIP includes the MIT license and copyright notice. See the repository README for options and troubleshooting.
