License violation of Core modules design (CC-ND) #1
Comments
Thank you for your email Felipe.
These graphics were provided to me by Andrew Belt himself under licence.

The purpose of these files is to prevent anyone else having to jump through
hoops to perform a fork of the software.
I will be asking Andrew or perhaps yourself for similar unbranded graphics
for v2.
Thank you for your concern.
Jim

did you mean to post an image? I think I am missing some context here. PS: My name is Filipe, not Felipe. |
Apologies, Filipe, I've added your name to my dictionary accordingly. I had a conversation with Andrew on discord about supplying unbranded module graphics explicitly for use by forks of vcv so that they didn't have to recreate all the files from scratch or risk other legal aspects of the design. Andrew agreed and supplied the files to me by email on the 20th May 2021. The commit you reference was me applying those files to this repository. |
Ah ok, so that was the missing context, thanks for clarifying. |
Sadly looking more into this, should have noticed it earlier sorry, these new graphics are still CC-ND, so we are not allowed to make derivates. CC-ND artwork has no place on an open-source project, but that is just my opinion I guess... |
CC-ND-NC in fact. But at least forking and distributing rack itself is not an issue. I was going to suggest these graphics for Cardinal, but they're only v1 at the moment, I haven't asked for the v2. Also, sorry, I assumed you were Andrew's new graphic designer doing a copyright sweep. Was pretty annoyed at that thought. |
