Maverick 1.0.51 - hidden startup and host compatibility

Choose a tag to compare

@ReLLL ReLLL released this 01 Nov 11:39

Maverick starts hidden when the host launches. Enabled decoding and CW autosave continue in the background; use Open Maverick Decoder in the sidebar to show the window. The Windows preview also creates its native window hidden and preserves explicit Open after worker recovery.

macOS installation now checks exact host/header compatibility, dependency fingerprints and native symbol binding before replacing files. Dependency paths are repaired only in a staged plugin copy. Unknown host builds are rejected; a changed host keeps the module inactive before it touches UI or decoder state. Existing configuration and plugin backups are preserved.

Downloads:

  • Brown Apple Silicon package: tested SDR++Brown 1.2.1, August 4, 2026 build.
  • Standard Apple Silicon package: reviewed SDR++ 1.3.2 October 23, 2026 nightly, plus a separate legacy 1.2.0 payload selected automatically by the installer.
  • Windows SDR# x64 .NET 9 preview: plugin binaries and Install.cmd/PowerShell installer, with matching runtime source archives.
  • Exact project source and SHA-256 checksums.

macOS packages require Python 3 and Apple's Command Line Tools. Quit the selected host before installing. For relocated applications, pass --app; use --check for a read-only loader preflight. Host bundles and signatures are never modified. Other host revisions may need matching builds.

Validation: 15 core tests, 31 installer/compatibility tests, 15 AddressSanitizer tests, three matching ImGui suites, and three macOS real-host lifecycle checks passed. Extracted macOS packages passed loader checks and revision selection. Native Windows and managed adapter builds passed; Windows runtime execution was not repeated for this patch. Windows remains a preview with the previously documented emulation and high-rate queue-gap limits. No new RF reception-quality claims.

See README.md and docs/validation.md at this tag for installation details and test limits.

Maverick 1.0.50 - SDR# Windows preview and new branding

Choose a tag to compare

@ReLLL ReLLL released this 19 Oct 13:57

Maverick Text Modes Decoder: CW / RTTY / JS8 / Olivia / PSK31 / PSK63

Previously CW Notebook. This release introduces the Maverick name and a Windows SDR# preview while preserving the existing SDR++ and SDR++Brown integrations, settings and CW logs.

  • Receive CW transcripts alongside digital frequency tabs, spectrum discovery, priority pins and local RX SNR.
  • Install the Windows preview with the included Install.cmd, or copy its complete MaverickDecoder folder into the SDR# Plugins directory. The installer checks integrity and backs up existing binaries.
  • Keep existing macOS receiver preferences, disabled modes and sidebar layout when migrating old display labels.
  • Use the README for installation, feedback and the companion Kondor Weak Signal Modes Decoder for FT8, FT4, WSPR, FST4/FST4W, JS8 and Q65 reception, DX mapping and logging.

Downloads

  • macOS: separate brown and sdrpp Apple Silicon packages, macOS 15+. Tested hosts are SDR++Brown 1.2.1 (August 4, 2026 build) and SDR++ 1.2.0 (May 28, 2024 build), on macOS 26. These community plugin binaries are not Developer ID signed/notarized; do not interchange the two host builds.
  • Windows preview: SDR# x64 .NET 9 revision 1.0.0.1921. Tested under Windows 11 ARM64 / Parallels x64 emulation with synthetic CW/RTTY in the actual host and separate native decoder tests. Reception gaps occurred under emulated all-mode load; broader real-radio testing is needed. This is not a Windows SDR++ build.
  • Matching project source, Windows runtime sources and SHA256SUMS-1.0.50.txt are included. The runtime-source archive is for license compliance and rebuilding; normal installation uses the preview ZIP without that suffix.

Digital tabs remain memory-only: copy wanted text before closing tabs or quitting. CW has recoverable Markdown logs. Full tested limits and source provenance are in docs/WINDOWS.md.

Validation: both macOS host builds and native ImGui suites, core/installer tests, memory checks and macOS/Linux CI passed during preparation. Package manifests and SHA-256 hashes were checked before publication.

CW Notebook 1.0.49 - digital modes and callsign flags

Choose a tag to compare

@ReLLL ReLLL released this 19 Oct 03:14

CW Notebook 1.0.49 brings BPSK31/63, JS8 and Olivia reception to the public release, alongside CW and parallel RTTY.

  • Monitor the full captured spectrum with shared analysis and bounded decoder slots. Radio's tuned passband and pinned signals receive priority; frequency tabs keep received streams separate.
  • Receive BPSK31/63, all five JS8 speeds and seven common Olivia formats. JS8 header callsigns, grids and remote reports appear when transmitted.
  • Read signal-qualified local RX SNR for every mode. Keep the last signal reading through noise-only gaps, with reception age/time and mode-colored tabs.
  • Use paged Settings, optional offline callsign flags, clickable QRZ tags and HAM QSO highlighting. Annotations leave received text and CW logs intact.
  • Avoid misleading RTTY country annotations when a one-off token adds a leading letter to an otherwise repeated, recognized call. Received letters are never removed or corrected.
  • Close CW with its tab X to stop its private receiver and learning; enable CW to reopen it while retaining confirmed text and logs.
  • Copy reception metadata or use Explain with AI from digital tabs, matching CW's browser/clipboard workflow.

Includes the development work from 1.0.43 through 1.0.48. Digital text remains memory-only: copy wanted reports before closing tabs or quitting. Weak, overlapping or unsupported signals may be missed. Callsign country is an offline prefix estimate, not verified identity or location.

Packages: Apple Silicon, macOS 15 or newer. Use brown only with SDR++Brown 1.2.1 (August 4, 2026 build), or sdrpp with SDR++ 1.2.0 (May 28, 2024 build). Host plugin ABIs differ; do not interchange binaries. Binaries are community builds, not Developer ID signed or notarized.

Quit the selected host before installing. Verify the ZIP against SHA256SUMS.txt, then run the included installer with the matching host option. The installer backs up configuration and the previous plugin outside the host app bundle. See the packaged README for commands and rollback instructions.

Validation: fifteen core targets, five installer checks, full ASan/UBSan checks, both matching host builds and both native-ImGui suites. Brown 1.0.49 was installed and observed receiving live RF, with all 34 saved CW log prefixes preserved. Six-mode native replay was tested during this development cycle. These checks do not establish universal RF sensitivity or long-soak stability.

CW Notebook 1.0.42 - parallel RTTY and AI explanations

Choose a tag to compare

@ReLLL ReLLL released this 17 Oct 05:18

CW Notebook 1.0.42 adds simultaneous full-capture RTTY decoding alongside CW, with automatic priority for the tuned Radio passband and an Explain with AI menu in every RTTY tab.

  • Receive RTTY in frequency tabs with 170/200/425/450/850 Hz shifts, 45.45/50/75/100 baud and both polarities.
  • Give all eligible streams inside Radio's filter first priority as tuning, mode and bandwidth change. Continue scanning the capture with at most 16 decoders and 32 retained tabs.
  • Use independent CW/RTTY checkboxes, stable signal selection, pins/ignores, compact RY display, reception-metadata copying, modal settings/help and a fixed status bar.
  • Keep activity circles green for one minute after confirmed activity; returning activity restarts the minute.
  • Explain displayed RTTY text with ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, including frequency, band, baud, shift, polarity, time and approximate configured receiver grid. The complete prompt is copied; Gemini and long transcripts require pasting. You still press Send in the browser.
  • Preserve CW decoding and recoverable Markdown logging. RTTY text remains memory-only; copy it before closing tabs or quitting.

Separate Apple Silicon packages require macOS 15 or newer and the matching host: SDR++Brown 1.2.1 (August 4, 2026 build), or standard SDR++ 1.2.0 (May 28, 2024 build). Never interchange binaries. Tested on macOS 26; older supported deployment versions and Intel hosts are not validated.

Validation covers 40 format combinations, simultaneous signals, tuned priority under capacity pressure, weak-pair discovery, repeated-letter rejection, acquisition gaps, UI/clipboard behavior and memory checks. This does not guarantee decoding every weak, overlapping or nonstandard signal. The community plugin is not Developer ID signed or notarized; never modify the host's signature.

Quit the matching host before installing. Download its ZIP and SHA256SUMS.txt, verify the archive, then follow the included README. Configuration and previous plugin backups are automatic.

CW Notebook 1.0.35 - Brown and SDR++

Choose a tag to compare

@ReLLL ReLLL released this 13 Oct 10:27

CW Notebook 1.0.35 adds standard SDR++ support while retaining SDR++Brown as the primary native host.

Downloads and installation

  • Choose brown for SDR++Brown 1.2.1 (August 4, 2026 build). Quit Brown, extract the ZIP and run python3 scripts/install.py --binary cw_notebook.dylib.
  • Choose sdrpp for standard SDR++ 1.2.0 (May 28, 2024 build). Quit SDR++, extract the ZIP and run python3 scripts/install.py --host sdrpp --binary cw_notebook.dylib.
  • Apple Silicon, macOS 15 minimum deployment target; tested on macOS 26. Other host revisions may need matching-header rebuilds. Do not interchange binaries. Keep the included host manifest beside the binary.
  • Download both ZIPs to verify the combined SHA256SUMS.txt with shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS.txt, or verify the entry for your selected ZIP.

Changes

  • Standard SDR++ retains full-filter CW/USB/LSB/DSB/AM decoding, timing recovery, Markdown logs, selection, clipboard and browser AI explanations. Its notebook updates with the sidebar hidden.
  • Brown retains its native receiver commands, draw event, grid and HTTP diagnostics. Standard SDR++ uses its native radio interface and an optional receiver grid.
  • Each host keeps independent logs and decoder preferences. The installer rejects mismatched host manifests/profiles and preserves disabled-module and instance settings.

Verification and limits

Seven portable C++ targets, five installer tests and both real-ImGui suites passed. The standard hook/transcript suite also passed ASan/UBSan. Actual host IQ replays decoded the complete test body in all five modes; Brown also passed AM audio tones and Pause/mode recovery. Startup prefixes sometimes contained errors. Controlled replay checks do not guarantee on-air transcription accuracy. Installed binaries were verified byte-for-byte.

The tested older SDR++ host can crash in its spectrum calculation when Radio's filter extends beyond the captured RF spectrum. This was reproduced without CW Notebook. Keep the full Radio filter inside the capture. No host app or signature was modified.

Separate packages contain no recordings, private profiles or logs. Community plugin binaries are not Developer ID signed or notarized. See README for architecture, compatibility and build instructions.

CW Notebook 1.0.34

Choose a tag to compare

@ReLLL ReLLL released this 13 Oct 05:22

CW Notebook now decodes Morse inside CW, USB, LSB, DSB and AM, using Radio's full selected passband. The new Explain with AI menu opens ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini in your default browser with the displayed transcript and reception context.

  • USB/LSB capture follows the selected sideband; DSB captures both sides. Mode changes restart timing acquisition and separate new text while keeping confirmed text and intentional Pause.
  • AM offers Keyed RF carrier (default) and AM audio tones. Audio pitch is not reported as an RF carrier offset.
  • AI context includes frequency, band vicinity, configured Maidenhead grid, local date/time, weekday, WPM, mode/filter and carrier offset. Original text stays unchanged. ChatGPT prefilling was verified; normal site login and Send controls still apply. Gemini and long transcripts use the complete copied prompt for pasting. Claude prefilling may vary by browser session. No API keys or background uploads.

Installation

Download and extract the macOS Apple Silicon ZIP. Quit SDR++Brown, then run from the extracted folder:

python3 scripts/install.py --binary cw_notebook.dylib

Restart Brown and enable CW Notebook. Existing logs are preserved; the installer backs up the previous plugin and configuration. See the included README for usage, source builds and rollback.

Compatibility and validation

  • Binary: macOS Apple Silicon (arm64), deployment target macOS 15.0. Tested on macOS 26 with SDR++Brown 1.2.1 built August 4, 2026; matching source revision 679f48deee5299a199d15d30e6e785fac6054896. Older macOS versions are not verified.
  • Seven C++ test targets, three installer tests, ASan/UBSan and the real-ImGui transcript regression passed.
  • Controlled IQ replay in Brown decoded the test body in CW, USB, LSB, DSB and both AM inputs, including 12 kHz sidebands and the host's 15 kHz AM maximum. Startup-prefix errors still occurred; this is not a claim of perfect on-air decoding.
  • Normal RTL-SDR reception resumed with the selected filter, advancing samples and no reported drops/errors.
  • Plugin SHA-256: 105200bdfa19caa9898aeaaf89d9aa5ddf41d61905ad63cbc5c57cab3a488f25. Verify the ZIP with the accompanying SHA256SUMS.txt.

Independent community plugin; Brown is not modified or re-signed. This is not a notarized standalone application. Maintained by ReLLL under GPL-3.0-or-later; upstream credits and notices are included.

CW Notebook 1.0.32

Choose a tag to compare

@ReLLL ReLLL released this 10 Oct 01:38

CW Notebook 1.0.32 improves speed estimation, preserves measured key/gap durations during learning, and makes the decoding controls easier to use.

Changes since 1.0.25:

  • Reduce false fast-WPM locks caused by noisy marks and discarded long dashes. Sustained timing evidence can correct an established automatic estimate; manual locks remain fixed.
  • Show a clearly labeled provisional draft after about two seconds of detected keying. Preserve measured intervals for confirmed replay, including long receptions. Retuning clears uncommitted timing and starts fresh.
  • Follow Radio's CW filter bandwidth and provide separate Transcript, Decoder and How to use tabs.
  • Improve optional timing and fade recovery while retaining the original transcript. No station templates, vocabulary substitutions or guessed callsigns.

Validation: five core test targets, three installer tests, AddressSanitizer/UndefinedBehaviorSanitizer and the real-ImGui transcript test passed locally. Twenty-eight private recording starts avoided the reproduced false fast estimates. Three live startup/relearn trials at 22.193 MHz acquired approximately 20-22 WPM with no reported packet drops or errors. Fading still causes character errors; acquisition is not guaranteed within three seconds.

Compatibility: Apple Silicon, macOS 15 deployment target; tested on macOS 26 with SDR++Brown 1.2.1, August 4, 2026 build. Matching Brown headers: 679f48deee5299a199d15d30e6e785fac6054896. Other host builds may require rebuilding. This community plugin is not Developer ID signed or notarized.

Installation or update: quit Brown, download the ZIP and checksum file, verify with shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS.txt, extract, then run python3 scripts/install.py --binary cw_notebook.dylib from the extracted folder. Restart Brown. The installer backs up the previous plugin/configuration; logs and preferences remain.

Source and binary are GPL-3.0-or-later, maintained by ReLLL. Credits and third-party notices are included. The package contains no private reception recordings or logs.

CW Notebook 1.0.25

Choose a tag to compare

@ReLLL ReLLL released this 09 Oct 09:36

CW Notebook 1.0.25 fixes stalled transcript updates, slow acquisition after retuning, and windows that were difficult to recover.

Changes since 1.0.19

  • Incoming text continues while selecting or scrolling. Follow text controls scrolling only.
  • Retuning relearns speed and tone, preserves earlier text, and starts the next reception on one new line.
  • Slow-CW acquisition rejects short startup interference. A short, clean CQ can finish decoding without waiting for another transmission.
  • Original decoding remains the default. Optional timing recovery has its own clearly labeled transcript; no vocabulary guesses or substitutions.
  • A stalled-stream watchdog reconnects the private decoder channel while respecting Pause and receiver stop.
  • Reopening or re-enabling the plugin centers and raises its window. The new Bring transcript to front button keeps reception running.

Compatibility and installation

Apple Silicon, macOS 15.0 minimum build target. Tested on macOS 26 with SDR++Brown 1.2.1, August 4, 2026 build, using Brown headers at 679f48deee5299a199d15d30e6e785fac6054896. Older macOS versions and other host builds are not validated. This community plugin is not Developer ID signed or notarized.

Download the ZIP and SHA256SUMS.txt, verify the ZIP checksum, extract it, quit SDR++Brown, and run from the extracted folder:

python3 scripts/install.py --binary cw_notebook.dylib

Restart Brown. The installer backs up the existing plugin and configuration; logs and decoder preferences remain. Python 3 is required. See the included README for full installation and rollback instructions.

Validation

Core, recovery, installer, AddressSanitizer/UndefinedBehaviorSanitizer, and real-ImGui transcript/window tests passed locally. Live reception and disable/enable window recovery were checked in the installed host. Synthetic tests cover slow CW, startup pulses, short CQ, retuning, silence, and timing disturbances; they do not establish perfect on-air decoding.

Plugin SHA-256: 1e2ffc33dc7012c739f9550276d623a51f51e0d809f9776597e03d2d18944631.

GPL-3.0-or-later. Maintained by ReLLL; upstream credits and notices are included. Issues and pull requests are welcome.

Release preparation also fixed a persistence-test assumption: original text is checked across autosave boundaries, with an explicit mid-message save. Decoder behavior matches the locally tested 1.0.24 candidate.

CW Notebook 1.0.19

Choose a tag to compare

@ReLLL ReLLL released this 09 Oct 05:05

CW Notebook 1.0.19

First public release: a CW decoder and Markdown notebook for SDR++Brown.

  • Decode Morse with automatic or manual speed and carrier tracking.
  • Select and copy decoded text, or copy a timestamped reception summary with frequency, speed and carrier offset.
  • Save Markdown logs, rename them, and clear the display while archiving the previous log.
  • Keep the receiver frequency stable while using the notebook window.

Download cw-notebook-1.0.19-macos-arm64.zip and SHA256SUMS.txt. Verify with shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS.txt, extract the ZIP, close Brown, then run python3 scripts/install.py --binary cw_notebook.dylib from the extracted folder. The installer backs up the existing plugin and configuration. See the included README for updates, rollback and receiving instructions.

The binary requires Apple Silicon and macOS 15 or later. It was tested on macOS 26 with SDR++Brown 1.2.1 and built against Brown revision 679f48deee5299a199d15d30e6e785fac6054896. Other Brown builds may require rebuilding from source. This community plugin is not Developer ID signed or notarized.

Local validation passed: decoder regression tests, address/undefined-behavior sanitizers, installer tests, and a live host load with audio processing and no reported dropped blocks. Weak, fading or overlapping signals can still produce decoding errors.

Source is available at this release tag under GPL-3.0-or-later. Contributions are welcome; see CONTRIBUTING.md. CREDITS.md and THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md acknowledge SDR++Brown, SDR++, Dear ImGui and the other upstream projects.
