New in 0.7.0
- A new look that matches the website. Glance now uses the same design as its website: the Urbanist font, ink and violet colours, rounded panels and pill-shaped tabs, in light and dark. To go back to the Windows look, open Settings → Customise → Design and choose Windows.
- Muse in Ask AI. Meta's Muse is now one of the companies in the Ask AI sidebar. It runs Muse Code, Meta's coding agent, signed in with your Meta account, or shows the Meta AI website in the sidebar. Install Muse Code first; Glance starts the rest.
- Make Glance your own. A new Customise tab in Settings holds the theme, design, tabs and toolbar options. Pick up to three colours on a colour wheel, like Zen Browser's, to paint the window in a gradient, with sliders for strength and film grain and some ready-made gradients. The first colour is also the accent colour. Text and icons stay readable whatever you pick, in light and dark.
- Tabs down the side, and tabs that collapse. Show your open files down the left side of the window instead of across the top (Settings → Customise → Tabs). Either way, View → Collapse Tabs (Ctrl+Shift+B) shrinks them to their icons.
- Rounder toolbar. The tab bar and toolbar are pill-shaped, with more room between the toolbar and the page.
Install help
Windows. Run the installer; it installs for your account only, without administrator rights. SmartScreen warns about an unknown publisher because releases aren't code-signed yet: click More info → Run anyway. To open PDFs or images with Glance, pick it in Settings → Apps → Default apps → Glance. Needs Windows 10 (1809+) or 11; the installer fetches WebView2 if it's missing.
Ubuntu or Debian. sudo apt install ./Glance-…-linux-amd64.deb (or the arm64 file).
Fedora. sudo dnf install ./Glance-…-linux-x86_64.rpm (or the aarch64 file).
Any Linux (Flatpak). flatpak install --user ./Glance-…-linux-x86_64.flatpak (or the aarch64 file). PostScript files need the .deb or RPM.
Check a download. Its SHA-256 hash is in SHA256SUMS.txt: run Get-FileHash in PowerShell, or sha256sum -c --ignore-missing SHA256SUMS.txt on Linux.
Which processor? Most PCs are Intel or AMD. ARM means Snapdragon laptops, Surface Pro X and similar; on Windows, Settings → System → About → System type says which.
