@RepressedAlliance RepressedAlliance released this 02 Nov 08:27

AI agents on Windows fill RAM during long jobs and can't release it themselves: trimming other programs' memory needs admin rights. memreduct-mcp lets an agent ask the Mem Reduct you already run to clean, through its hotkey, with no UAC prompt and no dialog, and reports how much came free.

Install

  • Claude Code: /plugin marketplace add RepressedAlliance/memreduct-mcp, then /plugin install memreduct@memreduct-mcp (includes a skill that tells Claude when cleaning is worth it).
  • Codex, Cursor and other MCP clients: npx -y memreduct-mcp (npm).
  • Claude Desktop: download memreduct-mcp.mcpb below and open it.

Requires Windows, Node.js 18+, and Mem Reduct running with its Clean memory hotkey enabled. See the README.

In this release

  • Tools: memory_status, clean_memory (before/after RAM, Mem Reduct's own figure, cooldown, needed_mb), memreduct_setup_check.
  • Measured: 8 idle Claude Code sessions (40 processes) went from 2.81 GB to 0.42 GB working set after one clean, 1.02 GB five minutes later. Commit charge is unchanged; cleaning frees physical RAM, it does not end processes.
