Cloud quality and TLOD in non-expert mode #278

Re 1, no there is currently no way to disable cloud quality increases in non-expert mode, as most users like it that way and you can have it off in expert mode if you don't like it. Re 2, I'd have to see a log file to tell you why your TLOD stays so low, but it is usually because you aren't achieving or exceeding your target FPS often enough, which does sound strange for such capable hardware. Attach one of your latest log files, located in %appdata%\MSFS_AutoFPS\log, with a representative flight in it and I will take a look and tell you why that is happening. As you have already mentioned, expert mode is the next likely step for you. It is not as daunting as is appears as you can leave most settings as is and only change the ones you are comfortable with. Each major setting has a short tool tip summarising what you would be adjusting. If you get into any trouble and want to reset the current profile to default, just have MSFS running and NOT in a flight and click on the Reset button. |

Haven't been using AutoFPS for a while but thought I would give it another go, comparing it to the Dynamic setting in MSFS 2024 I've been using for while now.
Completed two flights today in the PMDG 737-800 in VR using a MeganeX Superlight 8K, using the latest version of AutoFPS (v0.5.3.0). In the past, I always used Expert mode and the Auto TLOD mode. Today, I thought I would start by using AutoFPS in non-expert mode to see how it did by itself and without me messing around with all the settings.
Overall, it was a fairly good experience and I especially noticed how some (not all) of the micro-stutters in turns during taxiing was gone. In cruise, the performance was good too but there were 2 things I wanted to ask about. And sorry if the answer is buried somewhere in the documentation. I tried to find the answers in there before posting here. Maybe I overlooked it.
The cloud quality was automatically increased from my normal High setting in MSFS 2024 to Ultra. I don't like that but would rather have the cloud quality set without any switching between different quality settings. Is there a way to stop that from happening in non-expert mode?
Looking at TLOD which I have set to 100 in MSFS 2024, in AutoFPS, it remained around 25-50 and occasionally up to about 70-80 but never reached 100. Let alone 200 which I thought was the default max setting for TLOD in AutoFPS when using standard mode but apparently not. I have my FPS set to 60 in NFR and 45 in VR (half the refresh rate of my MGX 8K). My PC is a 9950 X3D paired with a 5090 and 64 GB DDR5 6000Mhz RAM. Why was the TLOD value so low in AutoFPS even midflight at my cruise level where the FPS target was easily achievable?
Will do more testing tomorrow and maybe I need to start messing around with the Expert mode again but wanted to ask in here first. Would be very nice if I could achieve really good results without having to mess around too much with the myriad of different settings found in Expert mode and trying to figure out what combination of settings works best.
