Payoff is technically not ransomware. Ransomware implies that you can potentially get your data/files back from paying a fee. Payoff does not have any features for decryption or payment of any kind.
It encrypts the contents of your home directories (documents, desktop, pictures, etc) and external drives (D:\, X:\, etc) using AES encryption. It also changes your background to a basic ransom note.
NO! As funny as that would be, they would lose access to ALL of their personal files... Permanently!
If you accidentally ran this on your host machine, i hope you had the password printed to the console. If you have the AES password you can easily write a decrypt function using the file encryption library. Otherwise... you're better off wiping your drive and switching to linux so this never happens again.
