RGLauncher Windows Edition 0.4.0-beta.10
RGLauncher Windows Edition 0.4.0 beta
- Customize the desktop with movable sections, shortcut bars and widgets; save and reopen named layouts, with separate layouts per display.
- Use the built-in taskbar in Static, Dynamic or Traditional mode. Dynamic reveals at the screen edge without reserving space for normal windows. The Windows system tray and desktop controls remain available.
- New installations start in Glass with the Dynamic taskbar, a smaller desktop layout and no animated backdrop. An optional tutorial introduces the customization controls.
- Follow the active Wallpaper Engine wallpaper's colors for accents and surface tints. Library filters show All, Recent and installed launchers by default; genre filters remain optional.
- The launcher monitors for hangs and restores the Windows shell before recovery. Fullscreen detection works per display and ignores idle GPU overlays and ordinary maximized windows.
- Improved game discovery to exclude identified DLC and content stubs, and hand Epic games to the Epic client using their full launch identity.
- Added RGLauncher branding to the customization tutorial and an RG app icon adapted from the RG Tabletop artwork.
This is a beta. Existing settings, custom games, layouts and license data are retained. The reported Epic launch error and some multi-monitor interactions still need live testing.
RGLauncher Windows Edition 0.3.0-beta.2
Fix default browser detection on current Windows versions.
- The dock now queries Windows' effective HTTPS association instead of relying on the legacy UserChoice registry entry. That entry can still say Edge after Firefox becomes the default.
- The dock icon and launch target follow the browser returned by Windows. Changes are picked up while the launcher runs and checked again when clicked.
- Verified on a machine where the old registry entry says Edge and the effective default is Firefox.
Includes the pages and themed widget blocks from 0.3.0-beta.1. Existing beta installs receive this release through Settings > Updates.
RGLauncher Windows Edition 0.3.0-beta.1
RGLauncher 0.3.0-beta.1
- New Hub, Media and Creative pages alongside the Library. Enable or disable pages, change their order and choose which opens first in Settings > Pages.
- Create custom pages and populate them with reusable widgets; choose each widget's size and order.
- Build your own widgets in Settings > Widgets using themed blocks, live data and actions. Preview Cyberpunk, Glass, Terminal and Minimal together, duplicate built-in widgets, or share widget JSON.
- Media widgets use Windows' current media session and speaker controls. Creative widgets discover installed creative apps, recent project shortcuts and Wallpaper Engine colours.
- The Library now includes a Launchers card with detected client icons, individual launch buttons and Launch all.
- Ctrl+Left/Right switches between enabled pages; scrolling over the page tabs also switches pages.
- Fix deletion of the only enabled custom page, keep preview controls from changing system volume, and reject malformed widget imports.
RGLauncher Windows Edition 0.2.0-beta.2
Second beta of RGLauncher Windows Edition.
New
- Five ways to browse your games, switchable in Settings > Appearance: Carousel, Strip (one flat scrolling row), Grid (a tile wall), Shelf (titles standing on lit shelves) and Fan (a hand of cards on an arc). Grid and Shelf scroll by row; the mouse wheel, arrow keys and Up/Down all work.
- Wallpaper Engine colours: the launcher can pull its accent from your wallpaper's artwork. "Follow wallpaper" re-tints whenever the wallpaper (or a playlist) changes; or pin the palette of any installed wallpaper.
- The program is now
RGLauncher.exewith its own icon. Existing installs migrate on update and the old copy is removed.
Fixed
- The dock's browser button now follows your default browser (icon, name and launch target) when you change it.
- Digital-rain backdrop showed garbled characters; fixed.
- Crash: the launcher could die with an out-of-memory error from WPF's render channel after long uptime and many setting changes. Card textures are now released straight away, the backdrops reuse their drawing objects instead of creating thousands per second, and the app recovers from the error or restarts itself cleanly. Crash logs now include what the app was doing at the time.
Known rough edges
- Not yet code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen will still say "unknown publisher" (More info > Run anyway).
- Multi-monitor handling has only been tried on a single display.
RGLauncher Windows Edition 0.2.0-beta.1
First beta of RGLauncher Windows Edition.
Install: download WallpaperLauncher.exe below and double-click it. Windows SmartScreen may warn because the app isn't code-signed yet: choose More info > Run anyway. The app offers to install itself for your account, starts at sign-in and keeps itself running. No admin rights needed.
License: 7-day free trial, then the launcher locks until a license key is activated (Settings > License). Beta testers get a free key.
What's in it
- Four design languages: Cyberpunk, Glass, Terminal, Minimal
- Animated backdrops (particles, aurora, digital rain, synthwave grid, stars) with mouse parallax; they pause when a game or maximized window covers the screen
- Settings window and tray icon; per-monitor on/off and Full/Ambient layout
- Scans Steam, Epic, GOG, EA, Ubisoft, Battle.net, Riot and Xbox libraries
- Stays put through Show Desktop (Win+D); real desktop icons stay hidden while it runs
- Watchdog: restarts itself within a minute if it ever dies
- Built-in updater (Settings > Updates) on the stable or beta channel
Known rough edges
- Only tested on one machine so far; please report anything odd (crash details are written to
%APPDATA%\WallpaperLauncher\crash.log) - Multi-monitor handling has been tested on a single display only
