The current implementation of #495 and #534 only shows statistics when the user clicks on a button. This also overlays the selection view.

Desired solution

Create a three column layout (as an option?) that always show tree view, selection view, statistics next to each other. It should be possible to change the width of a column in the same way that tree view/selection view can be resized (click+hold the gray block at the bottom between the two views).
