VDF wrapper spec v2
Corrects the threat-model section of version 1. The delay does reduce the withholding bias when it is several block intervals long (in simulation, for a miner with 33% of the hashrate on 2 minute blocks: about 70% of the bias remains at 1 minute, about 20% at 5 minutes, about 5% at 10 minutes), and window_size is not the lever for it. It still does not help against a majority miner. Parameters unchanged. See docs/VDF-WRAPPER-SPEC.md, Version 2.
Beacon spec v2
Corrects the security claims in version 1. A larger window does not bound a miner's influence more tightly and a window of one block is no easier to bias: the miner who finds the block that completes the window sees the value first and can discard the block, whatever the window size. What limits the bias is the miner's share of the hashrate, at most a factor of 1/(1-a) on the odds of a preferred outcome, provided no miner holds a majority. Adds the bound, its assumptions, recommendations, and docs/analysis/beacon_bias_sim.py, which reproduces the numbers. No parameter changes. The live largest-miner share is at https://sharecoin.cc/beacon/. See docs/BEACON-SPEC.md, Version 2.
VDF wrapper spec v1
First versioned snapshot of the VDF wrapper's usage conventions - a class-group Wesolowski VDF wrapping getrandombeacon's output to remove the first-mover timing advantage (not the already-bounded grinding bias, which this doesn't and can't shrink - see docs/VDF-WRAPPER-SPEC.md for the full explanation of what this does and doesn't solve). See docs/VDF-WRAPPER-SPEC.md for the full spec and its permanence policy. The spec file is independently timestamped via OpenTimestamps (docs/VDF-WRAPPER-SPEC.md.ots), anchoring its hash into the Bitcoin blockchain so this version can never be silently rewritten.
Beacon spec v1
First versioned snapshot of the randomness beacon's usage conventions (reference window size, lead times, intended applications). See docs/BEACON-SPEC.md for the full spec and its permanence policy. The spec file is independently timestamped via OpenTimestamps (docs/BEACON-SPEC.md.ots), anchoring its hash into the Bitcoin blockchain so this version can never be silently rewritten.
Sharecoin Portable v1.0.0
Two downloads, pick your platform:
- Windows:
sharecoin-portable-win64.zip- portable wallet + launchers, unzip and run start-wallet.bat then start-mining.bat. See START-HERE.txt inside. - Linux:
sharecoin-linux-x64.tar.gz- sharecoind/sharecoin-cli/sharecoin-util/sharecoin-qt all in one tarball (CLI + GUI wallet). See README.txt inside.
The Windows zip bundles kawpowminer directly (the official, unmodified RavenCommunity/kawpowminer v1.2.4 Windows CUDA build - see the NOTICE.txt inside its folder), so start-mining.bat works with no separate download. The Linux tarball does not bundle it - grab it yourself from https://github.com/RavenCommunity/kawpowminer/releases and verify the checksum.
Don't pass -regtest. The live Sharecoin network is this fork's own real mainnet - running the binaries with no network flag connects to it correctly. -regtest switches to a separate, incompatible test chain used only for local development.
