Foldex is a free, open-source (MIT) Windows app that converts between 244 registered formats in 17 categories, with a PDF editor, Signature Studio, PDF tools and folder utilities built in.

File conversion

• 244 formats in 17 categories — images, documents, spreadsheets, presentations, e-books, audio, video, archives, fonts, CAD, 3D models, subtitles and more. 169 of them can be written as output; the rest are read as input only (for example camera RAW and RAR).
• Convert the way you like — hold Ctrl while dragging files in File Explorer to open the Quick panel, right-click and choose Convert with Foldex, drop files on the Home screen, or set up watch folders that convert new files automatically.
• Optional engines — many conversions work straight after installing. Audio and video need FFmpeg; some office, markup and e-book conversions need LibreOffice, Pandoc, Ghostscript or Calibre. Foldex asks on first start which to download, and you can add or remove them any time in Settings → Engines. Downloads are checked against a SHA-256 hash.

PDF editing and signatures

• Edit existing text line by line — the old text is removed and the new text written in its place; the saved file is checked afterwards. (No paragraph reflow; scanned pages need OCR first.)
• Fill standard PDF forms (AcroForm), annotate, and reorder, rotate, insert or remove pages with undo and redo.
• Signature Studio — typed, drawn or uploaded signatures placed on the page as a picture.
• Sign with a certificate (.pfx / .p12) for a real digital signature (PKCS#7, SHA-256) that viewers can verify.
• PDF tools — merge, split, compress (with before and after sizes), password protection (AES-256), text extraction and OCR using the text recognition built into Windows.

File and folder utilities

Find duplicate files (SHA-256), the largest files and files with the wrong extension · view and remove picture metadata · compare two files · batch rename with a live preview.

The installer isn't code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may show "Windows protected your PC".
