HookHerald v0.4.0

Install

What's New

  • Watchers — run scripts/commands on an interval, forward their stdout as notifications into Claude Code. Configure in .hookherald.json, hot-reload on change. No PID files, no orphans — watchers die with the Claude Code session.
  • Opt-in auth — no secret required by default. Localhost is trusted. Pass --secret to hh router to enable webhook authentication.
  • Dashboard: watcher visibility — watchers shown per session with command and interval. Click a watcher to filter events by source.
  • Dashboard: live session updates — status, event counts, and errors update in real-time via SSE (no more manual refresh).
  • .hookherald.json — new project config file created by hh init. Contains slug, router URL, and watchers array. Edited directly, hot-reloaded by the channel.
  • Example scripts — ready-made watchers for Kubernetes pods, GitLab pipelines, and deployment rollouts in examples/.

  • Timing-safe token comparison (crypto.timingSafeEqual)
  • JSON parse guards on all POST handlers (register, unregister, kill)
  • 10MB request body limit
  • Version read from package.json (was hardcoded)
  • Channel shutdown guard (prevents double-cleanup)
  • macOS-compatible bin/hh (symlink resolution)
  • Slug detection fix for HTTPS git remotes

Tests

89 tests across 4 suites (up from 79), all passing.
