First model, first export
- Run the downloaded
.exe, install and launch RustSMF from Start or its shortcut. The source-code ZIP and tar.gz downloads are for building the app yourself. - Download Sample model above. Click Open (the folder icon) and select
rustsmf-demo.glb, or drop it into the viewport. Signal Robot needs no sidecars. - Choose Animate from the workspace chooser. Open Tools, select Wave or Turn, and press Play in the bottom timeline.
- Save Project keeps an editable
.rsprojwith the model, clips, rig metadata and supported selection/playback state. Export writes the sample as GLB; More offers explicit export formats and offline Help.
Drag to orbit, right-drag to pan and scroll to zoom. Signal Robot has five bones, three materials and two moving two-second clips.
Requirements and limits
This is an unsigned Windows x64 preview, checked on Windows 11 Home. WebView2 is required; the installer's bootstrapper may need internet access. Download hashes are in Checksums above. The installed application includes the sample under examples and dependency notices under licenses.
Imports: SMF, GLB/GLTF, FBX, DAE/Collada and OBJ. Exports: SMF, GLB, FBX and DAE. Select the model and required sidecars together. GLB is the self-contained texture path.
SMF cannot store scale animation. DAE export keeps external textures external. Duplicate GLB node names may change to keep animation bindings unambiguous. This preview covers supported bounded workflows; arbitrary assets, every FBX producer, other platforms and game-specific acceptance are not certified.
Verified build and source
The final source candidate passed all six local gates on October 11, 2026: verification (514 frontend tests plus repository/Rust gates), 134 browser checks, 11 sequential journeys, three strict visuals, desktop smoke (13 IPC mock cases) and NSIS packaging.
The attached installer is the exact package used for the separate installed Windows checks: visible geometry and animation, real Open/Save cancellation, sidecars, edit/save/reopen/continued authoring, GLB export/re-import, recovery and focus return through local UI automation. These observations are distinct from mocked IPC. Later source closeout changes affect documentation and test helpers; the shipped runtime and resource sources remain unchanged.
