Model Forge 2.0 Alpha 7
What's new in Alpha 7
Features
- Move mode (G) — drag the model across the bed with the mouse; the move is undoable and exact in exports
- Add model to scene — merge a second STL/OBJ/STEP file beside the current model, arrange with Move, export as one file
- Print estimates for every model — estimated print time, filament grams, and layer count in the Mesh panel
- Recent files thumbnails — the sidebar list now shows a snapshot of each model
- One-click updates (Windows) — the update dialog can download and run the new installer directly
Accuracy
- Wall thickness is now ray-cast like a slicer — accurate on curved shells
Performance
- Undo no longer clones the mesh — history depth raised to 50 steps with near-zero memory cost
- Rotating/mirroring no longer rebuilds the 3D scene, and the camera stays where you put it
- Heavy analysis runs in a background worker — the UI never freezes
- Faster startup: the STEP engine only loads when a STEP file is opened
Under the hood
- 52 automated tests now guard the mesh math, running on every change
