Finally, version 1.0.0 🎉🎊😊

Limusic 1.0. Playlists that live on your device, romanized lyrics, lyrics sources you choose, and a new search page. Plus the safety net a 1.0 needs: an updater that can roll a broken release back, and a beta channel for release candidates.

New features

  • Playlists that live on this device, no sign-in needed. Signed in, the new playlist dialog asks where to keep it. (#251)
  • A new search page. Before you type, it shows your recent searches and YouTube's Moods & Genres. Results get chips that switch between Songs, Videos, Albums, Artists and Playlists in place, a top result beside the songs, and a shelf for each kind.
  • Romanized lyrics for Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Cyrillic, Greek and more. Apple Music's own word-timed transliteration comes first, everything else is romanized offline. One switch, and it stays on until turned off. (#202)
  • Choose and order the lyrics sources in Settings, or pick a different source for one song from "Lyrics from X" under the lyrics, with a timing nudge and a search by title. (#23, #46, #326, #331)
  • Two new lyrics sources: LyricsPlus, with Apple Music's word-by-word lyrics, and SimpMusic, matched to the exact upload that's playing.
  • A Translation switch beside Romanized shows or hides the translation some sources add under each line.
  • The now-playing view can show the queue beside the lyrics or instead of them. (#297)
  • Edit Home is a live panel: changes show as they're made, with new settings for card size, the mood chips and the artwork behind the greeting. Shortcuts can be moved or hidden like any other section. (#317)
  • Previous goes back to the queue a click replaced, and the queue panel shows "Back to " while it can.
  • A beta channel under Settings ▸ About for release candidates.

Improvements

  • Home without the rules boxing it in: the playing artwork fades down behind the chips and the first section. (#319)
  • The language picker is a searchable panel.
  • Listen Together asks for your name once, and the server address moved behind "Change server". The default server no longer shows its address or puts it in invites.
  • The updater accepts a downgrade, so marking an older release Latest rolls a broken one back.
  • A release is marked Latest only once Linux, Windows and macOS are all in latest.json.
  • Updated Korean, Polish, Russian, Turkish and Ukrainian translations.

Bug fixes

  • LRCLIB is searched before Netease, QQ and Kugou, so Cantonese lyrics no longer come back in Simplified Chinese, and English ones no longer carry a Chinese translation under every line. YouTube-style titles ("... | Lyric Video [English]") match now too. (#329)
  • QQ Music never returned lyrics: its search failed on every request.
  • Adding a song to a playlist left its track count stuck at the old number in every language but English. (#323)
  • Skipping the first track of a long shuffled playlist stopped the rest of it loading into the queue. (#316)
  • Searching a long playlist walked every page again on each visit. (#316)
  • Multi-disc local albums played their discs interleaved. (#315)
  • Track rows repainted on every scroll frame, which made the queue and Settings lag on low-end Windows machines. (#311)
  • A corrupt database made the app vanish at startup with nothing logged. It's moved aside now and the app starts fresh; a locked but healthy one is never touched.
  • The bug report's environment header wasn't redacted, so an AppImage path could carry the account name.
  • The Listen Together dialog was clipped for guests with a long track title, and crossfade is suspended inside a room.
  • The update banner has a real close button.

New contributors

  • @Tomjerri1: fixed the playlist track count for languages other than English.

macOS: the app is signed ad-hoc, so Gatekeeper says it "is damaged". Clear it with xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/limusic.app.

On Linux only the AppImage self-updates. The .rpm is a normal package, so rpm users install a new rpm.
