@Skrol-C Skrol-C released this 16 Oct 18:18

AILER P1. Public face v1.3: Quill learns to talk, the studio gets a real editor underneath it, and every corner of your world starts remembering itself.

First, an apology. This one took far longer than it ever should have. Life got loud, personal things needed tending, and the honest choice was to keep building rather than ship half a blade. So instead of a thin drip of fixes, you're getting the whole armory at once — a rebuilt editor, a rebuilt worldbuilding core, a music library, an import hub, and a Quill who finally answers questions.

Second, a promise about rhythm. Arch Creator is moving to a monthly major release with bi-weekly minor releases in between. That's an intention, not a contract — a major may occasionally slip a beat if a feature needs one more pass, and that's the point: the rhythm is there so nothing ever goes quiet for months again. Bi-weeklies are the steady heartbeat; the monthly major is the event.

Ailer Part One is the "everything connects" release. Connections, calendar, worldbuilding, music and imports all learn about each other; the manuscript gets Tiptap under the hood; and Quill graduates from a pane of static findings into something you can hold a conversation with.

Ask Quill — he answers now (Ctrl+J)

  • He lives in the pill — the gold ✦ on the BottomPill rail (or Ctrl+J) summons him over the app as a controlled overlay, no more floating sigil.
  • Navigation always works cold — "take me to Kael", "open the plot board", "chapter 12", "show me the hollow crown, please". Fuzzy matching, chapter-number patterns (digits and words), book scoping ("chapter 4 of Tidefall"), and a live hint row built from your actual project — never placeholder names.
  • He asks instead of guessing — contested names (two people called Akame) offer a "Did you mean…" list, and a navigation verb with no destination gets closest-match suggestions rather than a wrong jump.
  • He answers questions too — when Quill SUPER's mind is loaded, anything that isn't a destination becomes a grounded, streamed answer from your own bible, dossiers, bonds, notes and open chapter, with source chips and a collapsible "What I read" so you can audit him.
  • Honest when he can't — with no mind loaded he says so plainly and still takes you anywhere, instead of pretending.
  • A note on how we got here: we built a full agentic Ask Quill — tool loops, browsing, dossier tools — and it wasn't good enough. We cut it and rebuilt the deterministic navigator underneath, then added grounded answering on top. You're getting the version that survives contact with real projects.

Quill SUPER — very early beta

Quill SUPER is in very early beta. It is an on-device story mind and it will occasionally misread a passage, paraphrase instead of quoting, or run out of patience on long chapters. Everything it produces is a suggestion you can inspect, dismiss, or weave in — never an automatic edit. Sharp 3B is the default; Swift 1B runs anywhere; Grand 8B is offered when you have a GPU and the RAM for it.

  • Normal | SUPER toggle in the Quill rail — the whole pane re-skins into the aurora veil, and the setup machinery moves out of the way into a separate Mind setup window.
  • Augury (was Delve) — take a reading of any chapter. Grounded in the world bible, dossiers for everyone named in the chapter, all your relationship graphs (including family lines), rolling chapter summaries, your notes, and open gaps. Depth control: Tight ≤120 words / Standard ≤200 / Deep ≤350.
  • Ghosts — the finding becomes a ✦ sigil haunting the exact passage. Whispers (sigil until you hover) or Manifest (the example line shimmers inline). Click for a card with Weave in (drops the example line into your prose at the right spot) or Dismiss (durable — never re-proposed).
  • Findings you can trust or argue with — quote anchoring now picks the right occurrence when a phrase repeats, with a strict near-match rescue when he paraphrases, and both are labelled honestly (paraphrased / no anchor).
  • Counsel that folds — the chapter verdict sits above the findings, collapsible, and unfolds itself on each new reading.
  • Consult — the chat tab. Ask anything about your world; he researches first, then answers in prose with the sources he used.
  • Memory — the vault: curated facts, candidate chips he proposes for your approval (never auto-committed), chapter summaries, and per-world skills you author yourself. Tidy prunes the noise.
  • Partial readings are labelled — if the mind rambles past its budget, the tail is salvaged and the pane says so instead of silently dropping findings.
  • Pane fixes — Augury and Memory now scroll properly (they were being clipped by their own flex layout), findings auto-glide into view until you take the wheel, and the whole rail persists per book.

Free trials are here

  • 14-day free trial, no card needed — a gradient button on the license dialog when you own nothing yet. Server-enforced through Freemius with payment method off.
  • Everything unlocked while it runs — a "Trial · N days left" banner, a new status pill row (Keystone/Quill · status · expiry, with lifetime for the forever keys), and a countdown that prefers the validated expiry date.
  • When it ends it says so gently: "Your free trial ended. Own it forever." — and the unlock gate uses the same wording instead of a generic nudge. Trials never gate anything mid-session.
  • Honest caveat: the trial countdown needs the license worker deployed; until then the dialog falls back to the emailed key path.

Arch Studio

  • Tiptap chapter engine — a real ProseMirror editor under the manuscript: reliable undo, indent/outdent, alignment, lists, quotes, and an @mention node that behaves like a real inline object instead of a widget hack. The legacy editor is still there as a switch in Studio settings if anything feels off.
  • Ribbon rebuilt on the new engine — formatting, lists, quote, alignment, indent, ornaments, and the scene break all wired to real commands.
  • Scene-writing mode — a chapter's continuous prose viewed as scene blocks split on the ✦ ornament. Split, reorder, retitle, and join them back losslessly; no schema change, so your prose is never rewritten.
  • Find & highlight rebuilt on ProseMirror positions — jumps land exactly, mentions are skipped correctly, and the bracket/quote counts stay honest.

Music

  • A library, not a folder — named playlists that survive project switches, a queue you can reorder, favourites, and per-chapter songs so a scene can carry its own track.
  • Real metadata, lazily — filenames list instantly; title, artist, album and cover art extract on first display and cache for the session. Covers become blob URLs, and every failure falls back silently rather than blanking the list.
  • Playback guard — playback refuses to misbehave: bad files skip with a toast instead of stalling the queue.

Connections

  • Backlinks index — for every character and entity, who mentions it, across chapters and other entries. Rename-proof: chips key on id, labels resolve live, colour covers that someone changed a name.
  • "Mentioned in" panels — silent when empty, one click to jump: chapters open the book in the studio, entities and characters reuse the normal jump paths.
  • @mentions got smarter everywhere — a shared mention picker, hover cards with jumps, and mentions that survive being pasted between prose surfaces.

Worldbuilding

  • Bestiary rebuilt — one builder for creature, flora and race, with the full field set and its own presentation instead of three divergent editors.
  • Faction suite — guild, order, cult, syndicate and company, plus the pieces that make a faction feel like a power: a Throne (leader and court seats), a Round Table (members with roles and entity links), and a War Board (what they're planning).
  • Locations rework — the dossier gains routes, intelligence and chronicle chapters, all rebuilt on the shared editor.
  • Save safety, retroactively — every rebuilt builder now sits on one shared kit: local mirror, 80ms debounced commits, and save-flush registration. The old faction and fauna builders called back on every keystroke with no flush, which meant type → Ctrl+S → reload could lose the sentence. That hole is closed across the board.
  • Power systems dimmed — still parked with its Rework badge; existing entities, spellbook assignments and mentions all keep working.

Calendar & History

  • The history editor is the calendar now — inline editing, provenance, and weather overrides in one place.
  • Plot linking — scenes carry in-world dates and appear on the calendar automatically.
  • Timeline tab on the Plot Creator, with drag-and-drop, and coherence checks that quietly flag a dated scene whose in-world date runs backwards against your story order.
  • Advanced calendar settings — months (names + lengths), weekdays, seasons, eras, moons, and climate, in a proper portal editor instead of a wall of prompts.

Imports

  • One door for all of them — the Import Hub lists every supported source instead of scattering buttons.
  • Scrivener — import fixes for real-world projects.
  • Word / .docx — new, folder-aware import.
  • yWriter — beta, reusing the Scrivener pipeline.
  • Obsidian — upgraded classification and note handling; vault parsing is smarter about what is a character, a location, or lore.

Command palette & title bar

  • Ctrl+K command palette — fuzzy-jump to any book, world, chapter, entity, or command from anywhere in the app.
  • Recents in the title bar — the arch logo opens a real project menu: New, Open, Save, Save As, your recent bundles with their paths, and clear-recents.
  • Custom dialogs replace native prompts — new project and save-copy use the dark Arch prompt instead of a browser box.
  • **World-first ...

Save integrity + automatic backups. Public face v1.2.1. Quill SUPER rides along as an early preview.

This one is about trust. A flush race meant edits made right before a manual save never reached the file — they only surfaced at the next autosave, and the bundle stayed stale. That's fixed at the root, and every save now rotates a backup first, so no single write can ever strand you again.

Save integrity fix

  • Edits survive instant saves — type → immediate Ctrl+S → reload: the sentence is there. Editors with debounced drafts (CharacterEditor dossier, SpellbookView, all 12 worldbuilding builders) flush into state before any save snapshots it.
  • Honest dirty flag — if an edit lands mid-save, dirty stays on and the trailing autosave finishes the job. The UI never claims Saved with a stale file again.
  • Covers Ctrl+S, Save As, idle autosave, and quit-time flush.

Automatic backups

  • Every save keeps last-good plus the last 20 copies — central Documents › Arch Creator › backups › ‹project›, pruned automatically.
  • Bundle writes are atomic (tmp + rename) — a crash mid-save can't tear the project.
  • Settings → Backups — timestamped list with sizes, one-click Restore (your live copy is sheltered first, so a restore is itself reversible), Reveal folder, refresh.
  • A failed backup rotation blocks the write instead of overwriting your only good copy.

Quill SUPER — early preview (Quill owners)

  • Normal | SUPER toggle in the Quill pane — on-device story mind (Sharp 3B default, Swift 1B floor, Grand 8B on GPU + 16GB), Unfiltered cards by default, fetched on demand into Documents › Arch Creator › super.
  • Delve any chapter — grounded counsel plus SUPER-badged findings that also mark inline; Ask SUPER for per-finding second opinions; inspectable Memory (facts, candidates, summaries, per-world skills).
  • Preview caveats: pane layout rework, faster downloads, and file-backed memory are still incoming.

Also in this release

  • Six more audio formats (opus, oga, weba, webm, aiff, aif) with decode-failure toasts that skip instead of stalling.

REQUIEM P2. Public face v1.2: one soul, many faces — plus a freer studio, a stricter Quill, and a pill full of new tricks.

Second movement of the Requiem arc. The headline is an industry first for writing software: full-snapshot alternate versions of a character — cursed forms, disguises, after-the-fall selves — living on one soul, one id, with the dossier, cards, graph, board, and prose all following whichever face is worn. Around it: Zen mode free for everyone, Quill's hats finally gated, toasts rebuilt, sprints that survive anything, a Toolkit side pocket, a faster studio, and the Power category bowing out for its rework.

Character States — one soul, many faces (industry first)

  • Faces are full snapshots, not costumes — portrait, display name, status, role, species, age, traits, all five prose sections, plus per-face template values, link refs, and images. A face always renders complete, even as Prime keeps evolving.
  • How to use faces: open any dossier → the Faces tab → + New Face blooms a copy out of the Prime → shape it (identity, portrait, layout) → Release this face → star it to Set Active. The filmstrip cascades Prime-first; the worn face breathes a shifting-hue glow.
  • The dossier has two contents now — a Prime | Face toggle in the toolbar. Face mode is the exact same dossier pointed at the worn face (own @-links, own images, own aspects); blanks inherit Prime's. Links, graphs, and relationships stay soul-level.
  • Switch faces everywhere — the dossier side rail, any cabinet card's pencil menu, and the Faces tab share one FaceSwitcher. Cards, showcase, graph nodes, board portraits, hover cards, and @-chip avatars all resolve the worn face; names stay Prime so identity never fragments.
  • The Masquerade — cabinet Faces button opens a candlelit gallery of every face of every soul (gold Prime headers, fly-in cards, soul filter). Click a card to land in the Faces tab on that face.
  • Face layouts are their own system — per-face templates in a dedicated face library (Follow Prime, Make face-local copy with auto-clone, section add/rename/remove/reorder, Save as face template). Deleting a face collapses cleanly back to Prime; old projects backfill to inherit-everything.

Licensing

  • Zen mode is free for everyone — gate removed, panel and Terms updated. The entry intro is now a meditation breath: lotus glyph, breathing halo, staggered ripples, 2.4s enter, reduced-motion bypass.
  • Quill's hats finally gated — continuity, story, narrative, analyst, fight, and lore need Keystone or Quill (first real Quill enforcement, full lock: settings, pane, worker, Mind graph, chekhov toasts). Editor stays free forever.
  • Fight Builder rework notice — one-time boot toast; free for all when it lands, some advanced parts may gate. Panel and Terms say so.
  • Power systems bows out — the Worldbuilding Power pill is dimmed with a Rework badge; clicks toast the notice. Existing entities, spellbook assignments, and mentions keep working — only browsing/creating waits.

Toasts 2.0

  • Two zones, one bus — tray (bottom-right list) plus a bottom-centered stage stack for Studio (newest on top, +N more pill, clears the BottomPill).
  • Motion with manners — spring entrance, exit beat, countdown bar with hover-pause, keyed upserts that pulse instead of stacking, all reduced-motion gated. Auto-hide by tone (info 5s, success 4s, warning 8s, error persists).
  • Chekhov and rotten-link bursts coalesce into single counted cards; face releases and template saves arrive gold with portrait thumbnails; autosave failure swaps to a "Caught up" flash on recovery.

Writing Room & Pill

  • Sprints survive everything — deadline-based timer in a persisted store: panel close, view switches, full app restarts. Live gold mm:ss badge on the pill rail, finish toast with the word delta even when closed, result banner, custom 1–180 minute lengths.
  • Toolkit side pocket — one rail entry, three tabs: per-book quick-capture inbox, chip-aware snippet shelf (@mentions survive paste into prose), and configurable dice (Japanese/Greek/Norse/Elvish/fantasy-mix names; seven prompt genres). Last tab remembered.
  • Tooltips all ArchHover now — the new surfaces dropped every native title, plus click-dismissal everywhere (tooltips behave like native ones: never summoned by nor surviving a click) and a layout-neutral wrapper class.

Studio performance & polish

  • Typing got faster — stable mention-index identity (no more per-keystroke hydration sweeps), string-keyed word-count cache, memoized inline counts, 500ms-trailing readability. No behavior change, just less parsing per keystroke.
  • Manuscript page style leaves app Settings — the in-studio picker is now the one home for it; stored preference respected.
  • Portrait blowout fixed — grid-item minimums could burst medallions open on large images; one global guard pins every portrait frame app-wide.

REQUIEM P1. Public face v1.1: the binder learns to dance, plot cards hold their shape, and the app quietly starts counting its own heartbeat.

Part one of the Requiem arc — a passage in two movements. First, the reckoning: every wobble in the studio, every clipped card, every dead control, answered. Then, the awakening: telemetry, counsel-grade legal, and a door left open to the Discord halls.

Arch Studio

  • Drag-to-reorder arrives in the binder — grip any chapter, folder, or web page and move it to an exact position, across folders included. A glowing gap line marks the landing, a ghost follows the cursor, collapsed folders open on dwell, and Escape cancels mid-gesture. Rebuilt on pointer events after native drag proved dead in the webview.
  • Chapter numerals renumber themselves on every move; same-position drops stay silent so no phantom autosaves fire.

Plot Board

  • Cards hold their shape — character and entity rows cap at two chips plus a live +N counter instead of sprawling past the card's edge.
  • Clicking +N stretches the card wide to reveal every assignee; collapse via the minus mark, Escape, or canvas click.
  • Chips split in two duties — the name jumps (characters open their dossier, entities open worldbuilding on the right tab and world), the X removes. Missing targets sit inert instead of misfiring.
  • Multi-POV made visible — hold-split cards now carry a parent link: a POV ribbon on both cards with pan-to-sibling names, joined by a dashed tie that tracks drags. Deleting the parent frees its children to walk alone.
  • Worldbuilding jumps from plot chips land on a populated world instead of an empty overlay.

Character Cabinet

  • Cards stand at equal height — backstory clamps to four lines, traits to two, with tooltips carrying the full text.
  • Right-click any card for the showcase — the card steps forward over a blurred backdrop in a choreographed beat; click out, Escape, or X to dismiss. Left-click and drag-to-group untouched.

Title Bar & Persistence

  • The status dot tells the truth — red on edit, amber pulse through every autosave, a green confirmation flash, then silence. The manuscript idle-save shares the same lifecycle, and mood-board edits light the dot again.

Worldbuilding

  • Phenomena resonance obeys — the row, the orrery halo, and the Awaken climax all follow the selected step instead of sulking on stirring (a double-wrapped read was to blame).

Telemetry & Privacy

  • Anonymous heartbeat — install id, app version, and edition, every six hours, to our own server. No writing, no behavior, thirteen-month rolling retention, silent on failure. Counts active users on a private dashboard.
  • Opt-out lives in Settings under Legal & Policies, announced once by toast; resetting all data rotates the telemetry identity but keeps the choice.
  • Privacy Policy and Terms rewritten for the new practice, effective today.

Support

  • A Support section in Settings — the Discord halls one click away, plus the support email with copy-to-clipboard.

FINALITY — THIRD SLICE. Public face v1.0.1: dossier and chronicle polish.

Worldbuilding

  • ChronicleChapter rebuilt — custom rich-text ledger pages (quote + H2 + lists via contentEditable + execCommand) replace AspectsEditor; blockquote and heading now match the Items/Reliquary editor.
  • Add page is an Arch pill — cc-chronicle-add gains the missing dashed pill (accent border, 999px, LuPlus) so the button no longer renders as a native browser control.
  • Styled prompt everywhere — window.prompt replaced by the dark Arch usePrompt dialog (Fauna, Factions, Locations chronicle).

Fixes

  • Chronicle chapter now persists page: keys and deletes them correctly; rubrics carry the right copy.

FINALITY — SECOND SLICE. Public face v1.0: plot rethought, fights staged, templates unified, dossier and moodboard rebuilt, Quill finished.

Plot Board Rework

  • Creation is the card — double-click (or press-hold) the infinite canvas and the live draft appears where you clicked; pan, zoom, or Escape closes it. No dialogs, no menus.
  • POV cards with portrait character rows, wiki-entity links, chapters drawer, hover connect handles, and connection-context pills.
  • Readable status — ink-on-parchment pill plus recolorable cards via the dot's swatch tray.
  • Reliable switching — the editor remounts per book so maps never bleed across books; unified picker with first-click landing and chip jumps.

Fight Suite

  • Fighters gain limbs, equipment, and stage position, backfilled on old projects.
  • Ten squad templates across Heroes and Villains factions fill a side in one click.
  • StageCanvas — a draggable 12×8 tactical grid; positions save with the fight.
  • Plot Board/Fights tabs mount the builder (parked for the refinement pass); Arc fully deleted.

Templates, Dossier & Character

  • Unified Template Library (Batch 1) — one store for character and worldbuilding templates, Settings hub, slim pickers, context-aware BottomPill module.
  • Templates live in the pill — dossier panel removed; built-in House dossier pinned apply-only.
  • Dossier toolbar goes minimal, sections stack or grid per-section, cabinet add moves into the grid, group view matches the cabinet.
  • Spellcheck dictionaries bundled (fantasy/archaic/mythic).

Moodboard Rebuild

  • Rebuilt on React Flow — polaroid cards, swatches with codes, quotes, live character cards, bendable arrows, pen doodles, PNG/JPEG export, right rail and zoom stack.

Connections Web (Batch 5)

  • @mention chips everywhere — dossier species/country links, chip jumps straight into cabinets, rotten-link detection with re-link, Obsidian import keeps links as edges.

Worldbuilding Folders (Batch 4)

  • Folder groups for every category — palette headers, patterns, drag-and-drop with cursor ghost, rename popover, migration from settings.

Quill, Insights & Mind (Batch 2)

  • G7 heuristics — 8 rules across 7 hats, Chekhov tracking, alias learning.
  • Insights tab with reference-style metric rows and word tallies; Mind graph persists positions.
  • Notifications with graded sounds, toast action lists, autosave routing.

Save, Sounds & Legal

  • Save you can trust — Save As names its copy, amber saving dot, autosave unchanged; bundle-folder open.
  • Sourced UI sounds play file-first (clicks, coins, page) with synth fallback; worldbuilding intro stings.
  • Terms and Privacy describe live Freemius licensing and Spotify; attributions match the real tree.
  • Ships as internal 2.6.0 with public face v1.0; in-app notes reset at 1.0 with pre-1.0 under Legacy.

FINALITY — FIRST SLICE. The first cut of the endgame: bespoke magic, a real file system, and macOS back on the mirror.

macOS Support Restored

  • macOS builds are back — the release workflow now builds Windows + macOS (app + DMG) in parallel and publishes both to the mirror with per-platform latest.json again.
  • Windows-only dep gated — the windows crate (0.61, Win32_Globalization/Win32_System_Com/Win32_Foundation) is now cfg(target_os = "windows") only, so it never compiles into a mac build. The windows crate was aligned to 0.61 for Tauri windows compatibility.
  • Spellcheck gated — spellcheck::spellcheck is #[cfg(target_os = "windows")] in the invoke handler; mac builds skip the Windows ISpellCheckerFactory COM module entirely.

Arcane & Cultivation — Power Reborn

  • Hall of Power — power category now opens the Power Pedestal (a pedestal environment) instead of the old wizard. Pick a system type; locked types show as unavailable. Future systems (divine, primal, …) branch here.
  • Arcane (sigil circles + grimoire) — the first built system: each Arcane entity holds sigils (composed spells = concentric SigilRings + SigilRunes + SigilNodes + color/history/incantation/notes + optional schoolId) and schools (fire, wind, blood … — shared sigil template, color, info lore pages, memberLabel). Full ArcaneSystemData + GrimoireBuilder/SigilBuilder/SchoolEditor + ArcaneCabinet with GrimoireGraphic/SigilGraphic and ArcaneSealIntro / ArcaneIntro (seal/ignite climax replaces the old Power reactor). powerTypes.ts + arcaneRunes.ts stroke alphabet (kenaz/sowilo/laguz/eihwaz/ansuz/mannaz …).
  • Cultivation (realm ladder) — the second built system: a sacred-mountain ladder of CultivationRealms (sub-stages, lifespan, breakthrough, abilities, tribulation gate, reached), plus CultivationRoot (element/speed/quality), CultivationPhysique, CultivationTechnique (kind/tier/element/realm gate), CultivationPill (grade/recipe), CultivationSect (rank/holdings/doctrine), CultivationTribulation (kind/severity/transition/survival). CultivationBuilder + RealmMountain graphic + CultivationIntro (Ascend climax).
  • Removed legacy Power stack — deleted PowerBuilder (FluxReactor, PsionicWeb, MartialDojo, DivineHalo, GenericSystemMark, ArcaneRitual, etc.), PowerCabinet/PowerWizard/PowerIntro and data/power.ts/powerSuites.ts. isCultivationEntity() discriminates (realms vs sigils field) and the intro/body route accordingly (pow → ArcaneIntro, cult → CultivationIntro).

Projects Vault — Real File System

  • Bundle storage — new Rust commands projects_root / list_projects / create_project_bundle / read_project_bundle / write_project_bundle / reveal_project (Documents/Arch Creator/projects/*.arch/ with project.json index + worlds/*.json + books/*.json, safe_project_name sanitization, project_path_is_safe guard, bundleVersion: 1). projectsVault.ts frontend wrapper + isManagedBundlePath routing in App.tsx handleSave/handleSaveAs (creates a bundle via createProjectBundle when meta.filePath is missing; Save As now clones as "<title> Copy.arch" bundle).
  • Vault UI — project picker now lists bundles from the projects folder (title/author/updatedAt sorted newest-first); reveal_project opens the bundle in Explorer/Finder/xdg-open.

Relationships Graph — @xyflow/react

  • Multi-graph store — new WorldGraph (positions + per-kind character/faction/family/cross RelationshipEdge[], cross bridges kinds) with defaultWorldGraph/normalizeWorldGraph (legacy flat relationships migrates into cross). World.graph + foldersByCategory persisted per-world.
  • React Flow canvas — RelationshipsGraph rebuilt on @xyflow/react@^12.11.5 (new dep) with typed edge picker (RelationshipTypeRegistry: alliance/rivalry/family/romance/authority/trade/secret/custom → pickerToRelationshipType/findRelationshipType), pan/zoom, node pool, per-type pills, persisted positions. RelationshipsGraph.css overhaul.

Characters — Parchment Folders & Dossier

  • Character groups — bespoke parchment folder cards (CharacterGroup + CharacterGroupPattern: plain/dots/grid/diagonal/cross-dots/squares/crosshatch/chevron/stars/checker/zigzag/triangles/sunburst/waves/scales, 8 CHARACTER_GROUP_PRESETS: parchment/royal/forest/ember/ocean/shadow/rose/sand) with World.characterGroups + WorldFoldersByCategory per-category folders (replaces localStorage) + characterGroups.ts data. CharacterCabinet now groups by folder-card with pattern/icon/accent theming.
  • Dossier rework — CharacterEditor replaced the 4-chapter hub (Identity/Profile/History/Spellbook + hero resize) with a schema-driven dossier: characterTemplates.ts (CharacterDossierTemplate/CharacterAspectDef/CharacterSectionDef, DEFAULT_CHARACTER_TEMPLATE_ID, readCharacterTemplates/saveCharacterTemplate/readCharacterAspectValue/writeCharacterAspectValue/addAspect), DossierRichText (prose editor), ArchTagPicker + ArchSelect, portrait square|circle crop, species/country/language/mbti/traits/tags/familyId/groupId/dossierValues/dossierTemplateId + STATUS_OPTIONS/ROLE_OPTIONS + relationships picker (PICKER_TYPES) + import/export + per-character accent.
  • Spellbook types kept — SpellbookAttribute/CharacterAbility/SkillTreeNode/SkillTreeEdge + assignedPowerSystems stay; now driven by Arcane/Cultivation entities.

App, Persistence & Polish

  • Global autosave — App.tsx now autosaves on any worlds/books mutation (not just manuscript idle): 1500 ms debounce + beforeunload flush via dirtyRef/worldsRef/booksRef, trailing queue in autosave.ts (pendingWhileInFlight + cooldownRetryTimer, no edit dropped within the 10 s cooldown, scheduleTrailing flush). forceAutosave + handleSave/handleSaveAs now await saveProjectToLocal after disk write.
  • Demo mode — #demo hash now forces loadingStyle="world" + loading=true (ignores stored skip), seeds an Arcane demo world ("The Amber Vein" — Hearth school, Ward of Slumber/Lens of Truth sigils, Grimoire pages) + "Amber Hollow"/"Kael" + a Tidefall demo Book (worldId linked, setActiveWritingBookId), and skips the first-run tour (markTourSeen).
  • Manuscript — StatusBar/ManuscriptView polish (word counts + save state), Choose folder now uses native dialog where available.

Fixes

  • Opencode V1 postinstall stub (opencode-ai@1.18.26 479-byte placeholder → 179 MB) — now runs node postinstall.mjs so opencode --version works on Windows x64; opencode2 service stayed healthy (0.0.0-beta-17595 at 127.0.0.1:49374).

Licensing is live — upgrade in-app, activate automatically, and get macOS builds on the mirror.

Licensing (Freemius)

  • In-app Upgrade — the plan dialog opens the Freemius checkout right in the app. Pick a plan (Keystone, Quill, or the Arch bundle), enter your email, and continue to payment without leaving the window.
  • Automatic activation — after a successful purchase the app activates your license for you via a Cloudflare Worker that resolves the key server-side (the secret key never ships in the app). No long key to type; a celebration intro plays when your license lands.
  • Manual activation + restore — paste a key you already own in the Upgrade dialog or restore it from Settings; the face card shows your plan.
  • Free-tier gates — worldbuilding items, characters, and books respect the free limits and prompt the Upgrade dialog when you hit them.
  • Bundle plan — one Arch purchase unlocks both Keystone and Quill.

Releases & installers

  • macOS builds — the release workflow now builds Windows (NSIS) and macOS (app + DMG) installers in parallel and publishes both to the mirror with a per-platform latest.json.

Fixes

  • The release notes are generated from the CHANGELOG again on the mirror (they regressed to a placeholder in the previous pipeline change).

Alternates arrive — crack a category open to find a hidden world.

Alternates

  • Alternates — long-press a category pill to crack it open in place (shake + crack lines + flash) and reveal a hidden alternate category. The pill morphs into the alternate and its icon carries a shifting hue so it reads as separate. Click the morphed pill to jump back.
  • Relationships graph — the first alternate: a full canvas board (bigger than the plot board) where you drag world entities + characters as nodes and connect them with typed edges — Alliance, Rivalry, Family, Romance, Authority, Trade, Secret, Custom — with a relationship-type picker, pan/zoom, and a node pool.
  • World.relationships — edges persist in the project file (optional, backfilled).

Phenomena

  • Phenomena category — a new Worldbuilding tab for the strange events and world rules that shape your setting: a custom Orrery builder (resonance mechanic, trigger-type emblems, zoomable hero), the "Watcher's Seance" tab intro, and the Awaken climax intro.
  • Trigger glyphs — the five trigger types (Calendar Event, Threshold Reached, Entity Action, Environmental, Custom) now use custom icons instead of emoji.
  • Ghost intro sound — a new recorded clip plays on the Phenomena tab intro.

Polish

  • Editor formatting — the page editor now renders rich typography (serif, headings, blockquotes, lists) and the format toolbar lights up on hover/focus, matching the other builders.
  • Panel borders + divider — the Phenomena trigger card and ledger pages got the bordered, accent-tinted treatment with a divider between the trigger group and the condition fields.

Cleanup

  • Removed the legacy FamilyRelation/Connection types and the CharacterEditor "Relationships coming soon" placeholder — the new graph is the single source of truth.

PRE-RELEASE — bring your world in: Obsidian & Scrivener imports, smarter Worldbuilding, and a fresh voice for your creations.

Importing

  • Obsidian vault import — pull a vault folder in and notes auto-sort into Characters, Worldbuilding categories, or Manuscript chapters (by content), with a preview to correct any misfires. Frontmatter is read then stripped; wiki-links are removed.
  • Scrivener project import — bring a .scriv project in: the Draft becomes your Manuscript (in binder order, with folders as acts/sections), Research becomes Worldbuilding entities (auto-sorted, with a preview), and the Scrivener Trash lands in Arch's Trash. Notes/comments/snapshots are skipped.
  • Themed folder picker — the Obsidian/Scrivener "choose folder" step now uses the native Windows folder dialog with an in-app picker confirmation, replacing the browser-style upload bar.

Worldbuilding

  • Save Template — capture the field/page structure of any entry (names + order, including your custom pages) as a reusable template, per category. A floating Templates control sits in the cabinet and inside every builder; create a new entry from a template and it opens the native builder pre-filled — no more retyping your custom layout every time.
  • Folders everywhere — every grouped category can create New Folder, and each entry has a "move to folder" control so you can actually reorganize your entries into cabinets. Empty folders now render, and the add button always shows (even when a category is empty).
  • Factions rework — the detail panels (Identity, Charter, Minutes, Member) now render in-flow beneath the crest instead of floating as popups; click the table's outer rim (founding/charter), center (identity), or a seat to switch what's shown.
  • Fauna & Flora: Races — a new Races pill and full builder (homeland, lifespan, physique, society, culture, magic affinity, relations) with its own animated race-herald crest.
  • Restored add buttons across Items, Religion, Language, and Lore; removed duplicate add buttons on Families and Factions.

Under the hood

  • New look: updated app icons (logo refresh).
  • Native folder reading via tauri-plugin-fs for imports.
