LayerShop 0.17.0 Preview 1
LayerShop is a Photoshop-style image editor with generative AI built in. It is based on PhotoCraft by the ArtCraft team, and this preview includes PhotoCraft 0.17.0.
It runs on Windows 10 and 11 (x64) only.
New since 0.10.0 Preview 3
Regions: lay out a picture before it is made
- AI Gen › Create has a new Regions tab. Draw boxes on the canvas, say what goes in each one (an object, a character, or exact words to render), and describe the whole scene. The model places things where you drew them.
- Works with the models trained on boxes: MOSS Image, Ideogram 4, FLUX.3 Klein and FLUX 3 (Black Forest Labs' API). FIBO 2 takes regions too, but only follows them roughly, and the panel says so.
- On the canvas: drag to draw a box (it shows its colour and size as you drag), drag a box's label to move it, drag a corner to resize it, double-click to type what goes in it. The eye button hides the boxes so you can see the picture.
- In the list: drag rows to set what's in front, and the pencil (or a double-click) sets a region's description, type, colour and fill.
- The copy button puts the exact layout the model will receive on the clipboard.
- A layer made with regions keeps its layout. Select it and the Regions tab shows its boxes and scene; your changes are kept in that layer.
Load from layer
- The old Load Prompt icon is now a Load from layer button next to the model. It brings back the prompt, the model the layer was made with and, for a layer made with regions, its boxes.
FIBO 2 Dev, a new local model
- Bria's FIBO 2 creates and edits pictures. The setup wizard offers it (unticked, about 13.6 GB; licensed for non-commercial use only).
- The wizard now installs ComfyUI 0.43.0, which FIBO 2 needs. If you run your own ComfyUI and it is older, the wizard tells you which models won't run.
Update check
- Help › Check for Updates asks GitHub for a newer LayerShop and offers to download it. It also checks quietly once at launch; turn that off in Preferences › General.
- Earlier previews don't have the check, so this is the first release that can tell you about the next one.
Fixed
- LayerShop no longer swaps its own ComfyUI for a newer copy found elsewhere on the PC (for example ComfyUI Desktop's), which stopped local AI from starting.
The editor underneath
- PhotoCraft 0.17.0: several hundred editor improvements and fixes from upstream since 0.10.0.

LayerShop 0.10.0 Preview 3
LayerShop is a Photoshop-style image editor with generative AI built in. It is based on PhotoCraft by the ArtCraft team, and this preview includes PhotoCraft 0.10.0.
It runs on Windows 10 and 11 (x64) only.
What's fixed since 0.10.0 Preview 2
FLUX.3 Klein downloads again
- Black Forest Labs renamed FLUX.3 Klein's files on Hugging Face on 17 October, so the setup wizard could no longer find the model. Signed in, you saw "huggingface.co no longer has the file (404)" right under "Signed in as …", which looked like a sign-in problem but wasn't one. The wizard now downloads the file from its new name.
- Two other model repositories had been renamed too (Z-Image Turbo and the FLUX.2 VAE). They still worked through redirects, and now use their new addresses directly.
- If a model's file ever moves again, only that model is marked Not available in this version, with an explanation, and Install offers to go ahead without it. It no longer shows up as an error over your sign-in.
Signing in to Hugging Face is in one place
- The panel under the model list is now the only place to sign in, and it stays in view however far you scroll. It shows Sign In with Hugging Face, then Accept the Licence for the model, then who you are signed in as. Each model's row just says where it stands.
- A sign-in that has expired, or that you disconnected on Hugging Face (Connected apps), is no longer shown as "Signed in as". The panel says why and asks you to sign in again. Hugging Face sign-ins for LayerShop last up to 30 days.
Also
- Your own ComfyUI: Scan Server sets up FLUX.3 Klein files under Black Forest Labs' new names with the right settings.
- A walkthrough video in the README.

LayerShop 0.10.0 Preview 2
LayerShop is a Photoshop-style image editor with generative AI built in. It is based on PhotoCraft by the ArtCraft team, and this preview includes PhotoCraft 0.10.0.
It runs on Windows 10 and 11 (x64) only.
What's fixed since 0.10.0 Preview 1
Editing with a selection paints inside the selection
- A local AI edit with a selection now changes only the selected area. Before, the model saw the selection plus a margin with no mask, so it could place its subject anywhere in that crop, and the layer mask then cut it off (for example a stag's antlers sticking out past the selection's edge).
- The model still sees the surrounding picture, so the edit blends in, and the change fades in softly from the selection's edge. Selecting the whole picture edits it all, as before. Cloud models are unchanged.
Your own ComfyUI starts the right installation
- If an earlier version of Find Installation had saved an older ComfyUI copy that sits beside Comfy Desktop, LayerShop now notices that a newer installation uses the same folders and starts that one instead. Before, the old copy stopped at every start.
Also
- A new README, issue templates for bug reports and feature requests, and a security policy with a private way to report problems.

AI Generate says what it is doing
- A local render now reports each step as ComfyUI takes it: loading the model and its text encoder, reading the prompt, loading into memory, "Rendering: step 7 of 20", finishing the image. Before, it only said "Generating…" until the image arrived.
- Starting ComfyUI shows what it is doing too ("loading PyTorch", "loading add-ons"…), with a clock.
Local AI setup
- The window opens straight away. Checking your PC happens after it opens, with its steps shown in the middle of the screen (hardware, looking for ComfyUI, download servers).
- Choosing how to go on is two big buttons, Use My ComfyUI or Install New ComfyUI, whether or not a ComfyUI was found. Cloud Models Only is a button too.
- MOSS Image can be installed. On graphics cards with less than 16 GB, a Light preset (MOSS Image alone) is suggested first.
- Memory and the Windows paging file are checked; Windows error 1455 (paging file too small) is explained.
- A PC without a graphics card the engine can use is told so on the first screen, with an opt-in install that runs on the processor (very slow: for trying the setup out).
- The engine no longer needs the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable to be installed.
- While the engine starts, What's happening? shows its own output. A failed setup shows its whole error, to read or copy.
- Run Setup Wizard Again… in the empty AI Gen panel.
Using your own ComfyUI
- Find Installation picks the ComfyUI that is actually running, including installations made by the new Comfy Desktop, never an older copy beside it.
- When ComfyUI fails to start, the message names the cause instead of its last lines of output.
- Connect also tries ComfyUI's other usual port (8000 for Comfy Desktop, 8188 for the portable build).
- Manage Models says why a model can't run.
From PhotoCraft 0.10.0
- Hundreds of upstream fixes and improvements to the editor, file formats and tools.

LayerShop 0.9.0 Preview 1
LayerShop is a Photoshop-style image editor with generative AI built in. It is based on PhotoCraft by the ArtCraft team, and this preview includes PhotoCraft 0.9.0.
This is the first preview. It runs on Windows 10 and 11 (x64) only.
What's in it
- AI Gen panel (Window › AI Gen). Create makes a new image from a prompt. Edit changes the picture you have (Change, Restyle). The result goes on a new layer, masked by your selection.
- Local models through ComfyUI, or cloud models with your own API key (OpenAI, Google Gemini, xAI, Black Forest Labs FLUX and more). Set them up in Edit › Preferences › Generative AI.
- Set Up Local AI (File menu): a wizard that installs ComfyUI and the recommended models for you, or connects to a ComfyUI you already have.
- Generated layers remember their settings. Click one in the Layers panel and the panel loads its model, prompt and settings again. The settings are saved in .pcraft, PSD/PSB and layered TIFF files.
- Everything in PhotoCraft 0.9.0.
