OpenPin is a drop-in OpenStreetMap map for any website: no API key, no Google, no build step. Copy one folder, add one <div> and one <script>.

Live demo & theme builder

Install

Download openpin-1.0.1.zip below, copy its openpin/ folder to your site, then:

<div data-openpin data-lat="30.79694" data-lng="-86.68139" data-zoom="14.7"
     data-label="Baker Feed &amp; Country Store" style="height: 480px"></div>
<script type="module" src="/openpin/openpin.js"></script>

What's in 1.0.1

  • Map credit: the (i) attribution on every map now starts with "OpenPin by SputnikFX", which links to sputnikfx.com. Text you set with attribution / data-attribution appears after it.
  • Rename: the package now uses the OpenPin name everywhere: the openpin/ folder, openpin.js, openpin.css, data-openpin, window.OpenPin, the .openpin / --openpin-* CSS names, and the openpin:ready / openpin:error events.
  • Demo site: the theme builder has the OpenPin logo, a favicon and a "SputnikFX" credit in its footer.

Features

  • 4 themes (country, coastal, mono, midnight) and 22 colors you can override.
  • Loads only when the map scrolls into view, with a fallback address and OpenStreetMap link if it can't load.
  • Doesn't take over page scrolling (Ctrl/⌘ + scroll zooms the map).
  • Supports several pins, and the map fits them all on screen.
  • README.md is for people setting it up; AGENTS.md is for AI coding agents.

Includes MapLibre GL JS 6.3.0 (BSD-3-Clause). Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, with tiles from VersaTiles.
