@ryanlefebvre1-maker ryanlefebvre1-maker released this 10 Oct 16:54

The fixes from your Summit feedback. Thank you Anna, Ben, Bert and Juniper & Jasmine Co for the reports.

How to get this update

Open your listing-optimizer folder in the Claude Code desktop app and say:

Update the listing optimizer to the latest release from https://github.com/Solnest-AI/listing-optimizer, then run setup. Keep my .env, branding.json, config, state and output folders.

Setup takes a minute or two. When you see the green check ✅ you're done. From now on, the end of each optimization run tells you when a newer version is out.

What's fixed

Photo scoring works again on new Gemini keys. Google closed the old photo model (gemini-2.5-flash) to keys made after the Summit. Every photo failed, and Claude had to score them all itself. The optimizer now uses gemini-3.8-flash with its "thinking" turned off, so each photo costs just the image and a short answer. If you added a GEMINI_MODEL line to your .env as a workaround, you can delete it.

Setup really tests your Gemini key now. It sends one tiny request with the same settings photo scoring uses. A retired model or a setting Google rejects shows up during setup, not halfway through a run.

No more silent fallbacks. If Google ever rejects the request itself, the photo step stops and tells you exactly what to fix. Before, it quietly handed every photo to Claude, on every run.

"No free tier" now says so. A model your key can't use for free (Pro models, for example) is reported as exactly that, not as "daily quota exhausted".

Photo #1 is your real cover. Photo numbers now follow your listing's order on Airbnb. Before, they followed Airbnb's room-by-room photo tour, so a report could call a living-room shot your cover when your real cover was the hot tub.

Fewer false warnings in the report:

  • If your PMS doesn't send your listing description (Hostfully, for example), the report no longer warns that your edits aren't reaching Airbnb.
  • RankBreeze reviews are no longer all counted as "unanswered". RankBreeze doesn't say which reviews you answered, so that number now shows as unknown.
  • The funnel section no longer prints blank lines like "City rank: # of (page )".
  • The "Before" title is your live Airbnb title, never your PMS's internal property name.
  • On a first run, the refresh schedule says "not tracked yet" instead of "no record", and the run itself counts as this month's conversion audit.

Your copy is yours. Saying "save" never tries to push to Solnest's GitHub anymore: your reports are already saved in the Listing Optimizer folder on your Desktop. Setup unlinks your folder from GitHub (only if you haven't changed any code in it).

Updates from now on. Say "update the listing optimizer". Claude downloads the newest version, keeps your keys, settings, history and reports, and runs setup. If you had edited any of the tool's files, it tells you which ones and saves your versions. Changed your mind? Say "undo the listing optimizer update".

Good to know: Gemini's free tier

A free Gemini key works, but Google's limits on it are small: about 5 requests a minute and a small daily cap. One request scores 5 photos, so a big gallery (70+ photos) can run out partway through. Nothing is lost: scores already made are kept. Run it again after midnight Pacific, or add billing to your Gemini key in Google AI Studio to raise the limits.

For Claude, updating a copy made before this release
  • The folder has a .git linked to Solnest-AI: check git status, keep any local edits, run git pull --ff-only, then run setup. Setup unlinks an untouched copy.
  • No .git and no scripts/update.py (downloaded before this release): download this release over the folder, then run setup. Nothing in .env, branding.json, config/, state/ or output/ is in the download:
    cd ~/listing-optimizer && curl -fsSL -o lo.tar.gz https://github.com/Solnest-AI/listing-optimizer/archive/refs/tags/v1.1.0.tar.gz && tar -xzf lo.tar.gz --strip-components 1 && rm -f lo.tar.gz
  • From this release on: .venv/bin/python scripts/update.py (Windows: .venv\Scripts\python scripts\update.py), then setup.
  • Never commit, push, fork or open a pull request for a student's folder.

Technical changes: #3 CI on Mac, Windows and Linux · #5 Gemini scoring · #4 photo order · #6 digest warnings · #7 report rendering (includes Juniper & Jasmine Co's funnel fix from #2) · #8 GitHub unlinking and updates.
