🟢 v0.1.18 - Streamlabs Desktop (experimental), every OBS on your PC, and winget

Hi, s1moscs here!

"Does it work with Streamlabs?" keeps coming up, on Reddit and from viewers in chat. Until today the honest answer was "sort of": you could point Streamlabs at InstantClone by hand, but you lost Enhanced Broadcasting and the VOD track on the way. So I sat down with Streamlabs on a test account and kept at it until the answer became yes, with one click, and with both of those still working.

That's the big one. There's also a proper fix for having more than one OBS on your PC (my own has an installed one and a portable one, and InstantClone kept mixing them up), and InstantClone is now on winget.

Streamlabs Desktop, experimental

Connect it once, then keep going live from Streamlabs' own Go Live button. The stream goes through InstantClone, delay and all. You don't change anything inside Streamlabs and you don't have to close it.

  • Enhanced Broadcasting and the Twitch VOD Track keep working. They're Streamlabs' own switches, use them as you always did. If you go live with Enhanced Broadcasting off, the stream still comes through, as the single track you asked for.
  • Twitch is only how Streamlabs gets in. Sign Streamlabs in with Twitch and go live to Twitch, but where it ends up is your call: YouTube, Kick, any RTMP, with or without a Twitch destination. Without one, InstantClone builds the stream's tracks itself, on your graphics card.
  • Import Twitch key puts your key in the Twitch destination straight from Streamlabs. Nothing to copy, nothing to paste, and it tells you what it did.
  • It warns you when something's off: Streamlabs signed in with YouTube or Kick, or a stream that went around InstantClone (Streamlabs' own Multistream, for example), which the delay can't hold back.
  • It stays connected while InstantClone is closed. That's on purpose: Streamlabs then can't start an Enhanced Broadcasting stream, so you never go live without the delay and not notice. Disconnect gives Streamlabs its Twitch settings back.

Note

This is new, so it's marked Experimental. I've streamed through it with Enhanced Broadcasting on and off, with the VOD track, with and without a Twitch destination, and with two InstantClones on one PC. If something doesn't come through on your setup, there's a report it link under the card's How it works, and it helps a lot.

More than one OBS? Pick which

  • Your installed OBS and any portable ones show up side by side on the OBS tab. Tick the ones that should get the InstantClone service: one, some or all.
  • No typing paths for a portable OBS. If it's been open while InstantClone was running, it's already there. If not, Using a portable OBS? opens Windows' file picker: choose its obs64.exe. Moved the folder? Edit it. Done with it? Remove it.
  • "Close OBS first" now means the right OBS. Only the one you're changing has to be closed, and having Streamlabs open no longer counts as having OBS open.
  • InstantClone reads the OBS you actually use. Your profile, encoders, WebSocket password and the Enhanced Broadcasting check come from the OBS registered to this copy, then the one that's open, then the one you used last. Before, a portable OBS you opened once could quietly answer for the one you stream with.

One InstantClone per channel? They keep to themselves

If you run two copies for two channels, they no longer step on each other's Streamlabs. There's one Streamlabs per PC, so it streams through one copy. Opening the other copy used to undo that connection. Now the other copy tells you who has Streamlabs, and won't take it while that copy is open. Each copy also reads its own OBS, as above.

Smaller things

  • Setup asks the right question first: which app do you stream with? OBS is one click, Streamlabs is one click, and Custom RTMP is still there for whoever needs it, just out of the way.
  • The OBS tab shows one app at a time, OBS or Streamlabs, with the same tabs as Overlay and System. Both can still stream to the same InstantClone, and the tab says so.
  • The dashboard only names the app when it's sure. With Streamlabs connected, either app could be the one going live, so it says "your stream" until the stream arrives, then "Streamlabs".
  • On winget: winget install Soulhackzlol.InstantClone works, Update now still updates in one click, and winget list and winget uninstall keep up. A copy in a folder that needs admin rights tells you how to update instead of "Access is denied".
  • Fixes:
    • The header's "Egress 0/2 live" no longer counts destinations you removed while offline.
    • No more false "OBS has Enhanced Broadcasting on but is not using it" warning while Streamlabs is live.
    • Setup's app names aren't cut off on a phone anymore.

The full list is in the changelog.

Updating

Same as always: the update prompt picks it up, and your settings, destinations, integrations and overlays come along. Nothing to redo, and if you don't use Streamlabs, nothing changes about how you stream.

Thanks

I repeat myself a LOT but really... Thanks to all streamers, esports players, and really everyone who supports and gives me feedback! This app is built for you!

InstantClone is open source and the build isn't code-signed, so Windows Defender may show a false positive on first download OR even block it.
You can verify the file against SHA256SUMS.txt, scan it on VirusTotal, or build it yourself.
