Install
Take the zip, or one of the single files above. The zip has one folder JPurrr-8000-v<version> with a folder per system (windows, macos, linux), the manual and an INSTALL.txt with these same steps.
- Windows: close your DAW, run the Setup. It puts the VST3 in
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3and the standalone app inC:\Program Files\Studio 87\JPurrr-8000. The setup is not signed, so SmartScreen may say "Windows protected your PC": click More info, then Run anyway. - macOS: close your DAW. The .pkg is not signed or notarized by Apple (their program costs 99 US dollars a year, and this project is free), so a file downloaded in the browser is blocked the first time. It does not mean the file is infected: check it with
SHA256SUMS.txt. Easiest, no warning: in Terminal runcurl -L -o ~/Downloads/JPurrr-8000.pkg https://github.com/SpeakingColors/JPurrr-8000/releases/download/v0.3.1/JPurrr-8000-0.3.1-macOS.pkgand thenopen ~/Downloads/JPurrr-8000.pkg. If you used the browser: System Settings, Privacy & Security, Open Anyway, orxattr -d com.apple.quarantine <file>.pkgin Terminal. On macOS 14 and older right click the file, Open, Open. Full steps: https://github.com/SpeakingColors/JPurrr-8000/blob/main/docs/macos-install.md. The VST3 goes to/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3, the app to/Applications. - Linux: unpack the tar.gz and run
./install.sh. It installs for your user only (~/.vst3,~/.local/bin), no root needed, and./install.sh --uninstallremoves it again. Or copy theJPurrr-8000.vst3folder to~/.vst3/yourself.
Rescan plugins in your DAW afterwards. Your presets and settings are never removed by an uninstall.
