The app behind starbow.com
Python 2 required. For Windows installation, it is recommended that you use the 32 bit Python build.
Copy starbowmodweb/example.config.py
to starbowmodweb/config.py
and follow configuration instructions inside:
cp starbowmodweb/example.config.py starbowmodweb/config.py
Run::
pip install -r requirements.txt
mysql -u root -p -e "create database starbow_website;"
python manage.py syncdb
python manage.py runserver
If you are not going to install the forum locally, you still need to create a database for it and load forum.sql into it:
mysql -u root -p -e "create database starbow_forum;"
mysql -u root -p starbow_forum < forum_schema.sql
Make sure to set MYBB_BRIDGE_PATH = False.
Our CSS code is compiled using SASS, Syntactically Awesome Style Sheets. To compile the SASS code into CSS, you must first install the SASS compiler.
First, install ruby if you do not have it installed.
To install sass, just run:
gem install sass
The best way to work with SASS is to have it watch the *.scss
files for changes and compile new CSS as the SCSS code is changed. To begin doing so, navigate to the scss
directory (starbowmodweb/site/static/site/css/scss
), and run the following:
sass --watch app.scss:../app.css --style compressed
This will automatically compile app.css
any time you change any *.scss
file in that directory.
Before deploying you need to copy all static files to the static directory using:
python manage.py collectstatic
