Blockinator CoreDNS 1.0.0 — Native DNS policy integration

The first release brings Blockinator’s client scopes, blocklists, whitelist rules, schedules, and query logging to CoreDNS.

Features

  • Applies policy before DNS caching, rewrites, and resolution.
  • Supports NXDOMAIN, REFUSED, NODATA, and zero-address blocking responses.
  • Checks policy on every query, including queries with cached DNS answers.
  • Configurable fail-open or fail-closed behavior, timeout, concurrency limit, and server ID.
  • Authenticated HTTP/HTTPS requests with certificate verification.
  • Connection reuse and rate-limited failure logging.

Installation

Download the Linux AMD64 or ARM64 archive and its matching SHA-256 checksum. Verify and extract the archive, then follow the included README to configure your Blockinator endpoint, policy API key, and Corefile.

Each package includes CoreDNS 1.14.7 with Blockinator compiled in, an example Corefile, documentation, licenses, and build metadata. A Go compiler is not required.

Both architectures passed native builds, race tests, and live UDP/TCP integration tests.
