QChat v1.5.3
QChat v1.5.3 packages the current main build for Windows x64.
Changed
- Windows Nightly builds publish automatically from main, with a separate update channel.
- Temporary chats are ChatGPT only. Gemini gives no reliable sign that a chat is temporary, so
/tempand Ctrl+Shift+N say so on Gemini, and switching a temporary chat to Gemini makes it a normal chat with a notice. - Normal chats now fold into the orb when idle while waiting for a reply, with the same spinning arc as Work and Task. Once the words start arriving, the bar stays open so you can read them.
Fixed
- Gemini model loading recovers when switching providers, and its hidden side panel spinner no longer blocks image sends.
- Signed-in ChatGPT Work and Gemini Task mode selection follows the provider state reliably.
- A text message no longer sends images left behind by an earlier image send that never went out, and no longer goes out without its text. Leftover files are removed first, and Send waits until ChatGPT or Gemini has the text.
- Starting a new ChatGPT chat makes sure the page has really left the old conversation, so the next message can't land in an old chat.
- Replies whose text ChatGPT keeps in an out-of-view copy show as they stream instead of needing a refresh.
- An image send that times out says what it was waiting for.
- A second message in a ChatGPT temporary chat no longer fails with "Temporary chat could not be confirmed". ChatGPT drops its temporary toggle once the chat has started, so QChat remembers the chat it started in Temporary mode, even across a page reload.
- Changing provider right after picking a mode or model no longer shows a false error a few seconds later.
- A late error from a reply you already dismissed or stopped no longer shows a banner.
- History no longer says "Couldn't load earlier messages" after a load that worked.
- Opening a chat from another provider can't pick the wrong chat if the chat list changes during the switch.
- A saved shortcut that's no longer valid can be replaced, and a failed Backspace clear in Settings shows why instead of staying stuck on "Press keys…".
- A failed download or update no longer leaves a partial file behind.
- A
$&in a ChatGPT attachment's label no longer garbles the reply, and Gemini images no longer pile up in memory during a long chat.
Downloads
- QChat_1.5.3_x64-setup.exe: recommended installer, including the WebView2 runtime.

Nightly build of main at 5da1479. Includes unreleased changes. Install once to receive future Nightly updates through QChat's Update button.
QChat v1.5.2
QChat v1.5.2 improves image-send reliability on ChatGPT and Gemini and avoids duplicated reply text.
Fixed
- Image sends confirm provider submission before retrying, preventing duplicate sends when acknowledgements are delayed.
- Hidden and screen-reader-only copies of reply text are skipped when reading responses.
Windows x64 downloads
- QChat_1.5.2_x64-setup.exe: current-user installer with the offline Microsoft WebView2 runtime.
- QChat.exe: portable executable; requires an existing WebView2 runtime.
- INSTALL.txt, THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt and SHA256SUMS.txt: instructions, notices and checksums.
Quit your old QChat copy through its tray menu before installing or opening this version. Existing settings and chats are preserved. This release is unsigned; Windows may show an unknown-publisher prompt.
Validation
- All 66 offline JavaScript suites passed with real-time timers (2,186 named checks).
- Rust: 51 tests passed; one desktop-input fixture intentionally ignored.
- 115 JavaScript syntax checks passed.
- Native image-send checks passed for both providers using isolated profiles and local fixtures, covering text with images, image-only sends, multiple images and ignored first Send clicks.
- Windows installer build passed. Both executable versions, extracted payload, bundled instructions and notices, Microsoft WebView2 signature, installer privilege manifest and local SHA-256 checksums were verified.
Signed-in provider behaviour and a clean-device installation were not retested for this patch.

QChat v1.5.1
QChat v1.5.1 makes long replies and History faster, adds smoother motion, and fixes reply formatting.
What's changed
- Long replies stream more smoothly, with less time spent rebuilding and highlighting code blocks.
- Long chats open with their newest messages first, then fill in older History while keeping your reading position.
- Menus, notices, chips and Settings pages ease in and out. Picker selections slide, the picker resizes smoothly, and copy confirmations animate. Motion off and reduced motion are respected.
- Unfolding the orb restores the bar contents immediately.
- Menus are more opaque so reply text doesn't show through them.
- Reply tables honour centre and right alignment, task lists show checkboxes without extra bullets, and keyboard shortcuts render as keys.
Windows x64 downloads
- QChat_1.5.1_x64-setup.exe: current-user installer including the offline Microsoft WebView2 runtime.
Changes: #21
Full changelog: v1.5.0...v1.5.1
Validation
- All 61 offline JavaScript suites passed on Windows, including the new motion, streaming-performance and reply-formatting suites.
- Rust: 41 tests passed; one desktop-input fixture intentionally ignored.
- Native WebView2 History/reading-position checks and Find/edit/undo checks passed using isolated test profiles.
- Windows installer build passed. Both executable versions, the extracted installer payload, bundled resources, Microsoft WebView2 signature and all uploaded SHA-256 checksums were verified.
Signed-in provider behaviour, the appearance of native blur during animations, and a clean-device installation were not retested for this patch.
QChat v1.5.0
QChat v1.5.0 adds Work and Task modes, a compact picker and a minimized orb, and fixes sending images.
- ChatGPT Work and Gemini Task can be picked per chat, for accounts that have them. Each mode shows its own models, and Work has an effort control. If the site doesn't offer the mode, QChat says so and doesn't send the prompt as a normal chat.
- Model, provider, mode and effort now live in one compact picker on a small pill beside the prompt.
- Click the orb or the minimize button during a reply to fold QChat. The orb shows a spinning ring while waiting, a green "1" when the reply is ready, and a "!" if something needs you.
- Selected text shows as a one-line quote above the question.
- Fixed: sending an image no longer hangs, and its text now goes with it. A cancelled send no longer leaves an attachment behind. Gemini's thinking levels no longer appear as models.
Windows x64 downloads:
- QChat_1.5.0_x64-setup.exe: current-user installer with the offline Microsoft WebView2 runtime.
- QChat.exe: portable executable, requiring an existing WebView2 runtime.
- INSTALL.txt, THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt and SHA256SUMS.txt: instructions, notices and checksums.
Quit the old QChat copy through its tray menu before installing or opening this version. Existing settings and chats are preserved. This release is unsigned; Windows may show an unknown-publisher prompt.
Validation: the owner tested image sending, Work, Task and the orb on signed-in accounts. Mode switching, model lists and effort stepping were also driven on the live ChatGPT and Gemini pages. 41 Rust tests passed on the release version (one desktop fixture intentionally ignored). All 58 offline JavaScript suites last passed before the final image text fix. After that fix, the ChatGPT and Gemini bridge suites passed, but the full run was not repeated. Executable versions and release checksums were checked. A clean-device install was not tested.
QChat v1.4.3
QChat v1.4.3 fits the app to your screen and expands the website feature tour.
- Screen-aware defaults account for Windows display scaling. Existing custom sizes are kept; unchanged defaults adopt the fitted sizes.
- Settings > Chat > Fit to this screen recalculates size settings after moving monitors.
- Settings and sign-in windows shrink to fit the monitor work area, including highly scaled displays.
- The website adds five interactive feature scenes, smoother scrolling, expanded shortcuts and FAQ, and reduced-motion support.
Windows x64 downloads:
- QChat_1.4.3_x64-setup.exe: current-user installer with the offline Microsoft WebView2 runtime.
Validation: 40 Rust tests passed (one desktop fixture intentionally ignored), 109 JavaScript syntax checks passed, and desktop/phone/reduced-motion website smoke checks passed. All 55 offline suites passed. Extracted installer payload, executable versions, Microsoft WebView2 signature, installer privilege manifest and release checksums were verified.
Native mixed-DPI appearance, signed-in sending, a real updater restart and clean-device installation remain unverified.
