BODS documentation rewrite: Primer, About and Governance

Captures the 2026 Open Ownership / Open Data Services rewrite of the BODS non-normative documentation (data-standard PRs #754 and #762). Documentation-only — no schema, field, codelist or changelog changes.

Key change: which URL to cite. The default and /latest documentation URLs now resolve to /en/main, not the 0.4.0 release branch. The rewrite was merged to main and deliberately not back-ported to 0.4.0, which remains the frozen release and the only translated one (Spanish, French, Russian). Stale URLs updated throughout the skill.

Current status. Both the README and About page now state that BODS is not in active development. Implementers should be aware that changes may still be made before a v1.0 release.

New data model documentation. The rewritten Primer adds a UML class diagram and an easily-missed distinction: Declaration and Record are pseudo-objects, implicit rather than implemented as objects in the JSON schema. Also covers bi-temporal modelling, the four supported network shapes, the deliberate absence of an intrinsic 'beneficial owner' definition, and the explicit 'this is not an ERD' framing.

Governance. Adds the feature tracker, implementation proposals via GitHub Discussions with two-week review windows, release trackers, the OpenStand principles, and the new BODS development handbook.

The Beneficial Ownership Visualisation System (BOVS) specifies how to illustrate beneficial ownership structures using a BOVS Diagram. It is designed to visualise these structures as clearly as possible.

The BOVS diagram specifications are offered to anyone building visualisations of beneficial ownership structures with the aim of helping people choose how to represent different aspects of ownership. The specifications are compatible with any brand, style, colour scheme, or language, and are provided under the GNU Free Documentation License.

Add additional information about the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and the detailed country reports that it produces to show whether and how countries are compliant or not with the 40 FATF Recommendations.

When people's queries relate to FATF compliance or what legislation countries have in place which form the basis of their AML/CFT frameworks, the FATF website and their published reports are the best place to look for detailed analysis and information about legislation or regulations which are in place.

Each country has a country tag page on the FATF website where all the published reports evaluating their anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism reports are listed.
