Optimum 0.3.22 targets Vintage Story 1.22.7. This release is mostly about making the installer work on more machines.

What's new

  • Installer on Windows: if the install used to stop with "Could not open output file", that is fixed. Optimum now unpacks the game in a short folder and checks that this will work before it downloads anything. If one location doesn't work, for example because of Controlled Folder Access, it tries another and tells you what to change if none does.
  • Git on Windows: if Git is missing, the installer can fetch a portable Git by itself, without admin rights.
  • Downloads: the installer shows how big the download is and how much disk space it needs. When the server allows it, a dropped connection resumes instead of starting over, and a download you already finished is checked and reused.
  • Smaller screens: the installer window can be resized, opens maximized and fits small displays. You can type the install path yourself, including hidden AppData folders, and it tells you right away if the folder isn't writable.
  • Linux: one-click mod install from ModDB now works. The installer can also set up missing prerequisites with apt, dnf, pacman or zypper after you confirm, and there is a Nix shell for NixOS.
  • macOS: the installer now finishes the source-built install and shows manual steps for any missing tool. It never runs Homebrew for you.
  • Settings: in the Extra tab, options that can't be used with your other mods are now marked, with the mod that caused it. Your saved choice is kept.

Compatibility fixes

  • DarkVision terrain no longer fails to patch on opaque blocks.
  • The status overlay compiles again when the game's thread pool API lacks the Optimum extras.
  • Windows build errors from decompiler SDK references (CS0234) are gone.

For developers

  • New numeric benchmark snapshot in OptimumDiagnostics.
  • Release pages list a SHA-256 hash for every file, plus VirusTotal reports for the installers.
