simply does not work?

I install this plugin. (I am on Windows). I choose the Edit / Trailing Spaces / Delete command.

Nothing seems to happen. Trailing spaces are not in fact deleted. Although I don't see any visible error message.

Is there anything I can easily do to provide more debugging info? (I do not have experience developing ST plugins).

Is this plugin still in fact supported/maintained by anyone?

Huh, I think the problem might have been that "Modified Lines Only" started on by default. Recommend that this be OFF by default, it is not expected.

But I got it working now, after I made sure 'modified lines only' was set appropriately.

I still can not get highlighting of trailing white space to happen. no matter what I do, after trying to toggle highlighting, I go back and look at the config file, and it again says: "trailing_spaces_highlight_color": "" (even though I reset it to something else, it resets itself, somehow)

I'm seeing the same in ST2.

When I select "Toggle Trailing Spaces Highlighting" from the command palette I see "Highlighting of trailing spaces is disabled!" in the status bar.

I also see "trailing_spaces_highlight_color": "" in my User preferences regardless of what I set there.

I guess it stopped working about a week ago.

Manually reverting to bf1d260 works here. If I get time later I'll look further.

Can reproduce on ST3. No combination of trailing_spaces_modified_lines_only as true or false solves the problem. Also tried with "trailing_spaces_regexp": "[ \t]+" as suggested in another issue, but still didn't change anything. Result is that the plugin is totally unusable.

FTR, this didn't work for me after installing. ST console had tracebacks "TypeError: cannot concatenate 'str' and 'NoneType' objects" (which sadly I didn't copy before restarting) - after a restart it then worked fine. Sorry there's not much useful here, but still thought it worth mentioning...

It is also my experience that restarts sometimes helps. But not always.

Stopped working a few days ago for me also. If I change any settings, nothing takes effect. Selecting "Highlight regions" in the menu doesn't change the checked state for that menu. Nothing works, plugin is not disabled. Uninstalling and reinstalling changed nothing. Not sure what else I can do.

Does applying the change in #45 help? There seems to be a major issue affecting first load, which might be contributing to this.

FYI: The revert to bf1d260 fixed the following bug for me (which was only preventing the higlight of the trailing spaces, cleaning of them was still working):

Any idea when this is going to be resolved? Neither delete nor highlight work in either modified only mode, or not. Nothing seems to work.

EDIT: Sprung into life when sublime got restarted.

@jeffgirard I believe you're experiencing a separate issue related to ST3.

@lukebarton if you have a few mintues to test, would you try removing the plugin, deleting its preference file from your User folder, and trying out this version (pull request #45), as I believe it fixes the first-load issue you encountered.

I'm on ST2 and experiencing the same issue after install, it simply did not work even if I unchecked Modified lines only. After restart, it seems to work fine now. I don't have the expertise to revert to another version manually as I am using the package manager GUI to install plugins. At any rate, for now it's working, thanks.

@geoffstokes I had this issue (with ST2). Deleting my preferences file and install your version fixed it :)
